DF: Upscaling Face-Off: FSR 3.1 vs DLSS 3.7/ XeSS 1.3 - Has AMD Improved?

My only experience mixing them so far was Rift Apart which works fine. I just tried Spider-Man Remastered for about an hour and didn't have any issues on 4060 Ti 16GB.
Ratched works fine (DLSS+AMDFG)!!

Mine is a 3080ti, so I don´t have DLSSFG... when I mix DLSS and AMDFG game runs flowlessly all maxout 120fps... but it lasts 3-4 minutes then crash with DXGI Hung error! If I only use AMDFG it doesn´t crash... right now i´m using AMDFG +DLAA Anti Aliasing and turning off Ray Tracing to get a fixed 120hz, both miles and remastered.

Why?

DLSS oftentimes looks better than native and you get huge performance gains.
Better than native is absurd. I agree it can be good enough to not fuck the iq to the point of being a distraction. But native is always better, the reconstructed image sometimes barely resembles the creator intent. It's like saying that N64 texture quality is better than PS1 because of the filters. Yes, AA and everything else creates a smoother image, but at what cost?

That's a bummer. What's weird is that those are all Insomniac games and I believe ported by Nixxes. You'd think it would be consistent. Later tonight I'll try it out on my 3060 laptop to see if I get crashes on an Ampere GPU. Are you getting crashes with XeSS or IGTI + FSR3 FG, or just DLSS?

I find FSR3 frame gen to be really good. I can't really see much of a difference between DLSS FG and FSR FG, and from what I've seen it's about 10-20% more performant. Rift Apart looks awesome playing at high frame rate.

DLSS is much better than TAA at preserving detail in the image, which you can see if you use it at native resolution (DLAA). As you lower the base resolution used by DLSS, that advantage diminishes until you reach a point of rough equality. It doesn't seem crazy to me that at half resolution say (Quality mode) DLSS might seem subjectively better in certain titles, especially those with bad TAA implementations.

With DLL swapper you can manage to make any game have better DLSS than native with TAA for sure.

Death Stranding was the first time for me that DLSS proved it's worth. Definitely looked better than native.

That's provably false. For the record, "native" doesn't really exist without some form of anti-alisasing be it built-in TAA or other forms of AA that all have their own issues. It's often the most stable and its issues are more acceptable, but it most definitely isn't absurd to suggest that DLSS oftentimes looks better than native. It does happen. DLSS is much better at reconstructing finer details and distant edges and thin lines. It comes at the expense of more ghosting and other image artifacts. In Death Stranding, DLSS straight-up dunks on native res for resolving small text and thin objects like wire and fences.

The champ of the champs now is DLAA but it's even costlier than native. However, it resolves almost every issue DLSS has without falling for the pitfalls of other ubiquitous solutions like TAA.

Most of the time, from a purely qualitative perspective, native with good TAA is more often than not better than DLSS but not by a whole lot despite running much worse. It makes DLSS the preferred alternative in most cases. There's almost no reason to use DLSS when it's available except for when it's broken.

they will get inevitably better to the point no one will know, we're not there yet, but I can play a game upscaled from a decent source resolution and forget about it while playing.
They always introduce blur in motion until we start playing crt again it has issues

This can't come soon enough, they're getting killed by the competition. In the meantime, hopefully they can speed up the incremental improvements.

DF is so fucking boring nowadays with all this upscaling face offs and iPhone game comparisons along with their podcast having to listen to John Wingemin drone on about CRT's and Alex look completely uninterested in 95% of the topics because he simply doesn't play modern games outside of his comparisons. Then there's the in built ads and fucking merch flogging. Who actually goes around with a DF meme hoodie which costs £60 and is a £15 primark hoodie in actual quality.

I much preferred it when it was two worthwhile videos per week.
