That means more gaming options, especially with multiplayer gaming gone mainstream. This type of game is undoubtably more niche today than it was 11 years ago with diablo 2. With all the fps games, WoW and everything else people play, im wondering whether or not a isometric camera hack & slash can compete on the same level. True, it will have all those fans who have fond memories of diablo 2, but i have a hard time seeing this resonate with the crowds who dont really know or remember the franchise. It might do better in numbers, but i dont think it will be the phenomenon that diablo 2 was.

Starcraft 2 will have a hard time outselling starcraft 1, and i think the same can be said of diablo 3 compared to 2

I really don't think so.

SC1 sold 11 million but that figure was achieved 10-11 years after release and it's for both SC1 and the BW expansion.

SC2 sold 4.5 million as of February. With the expansions it should easily sell on par with SC1+BW.

For Blizzard, the Monk is the Paladin... so no, it will definitely not show up. How the mighty have fallen indeed. I literally went into depression-state when the Monk was announced, I knew already at that point that we'd see no playable Paladin class :(
I don't know. They said they haven't completely ruled out the Necromancer for future expansions even though the Witch Doctor exists.

Blizzard giveth and then taketh away. They are taking down the servers to apply a patch and wipe all characters. Should be back up by 8 PT.

Monk looks pretty awesome.

In fact SC2 sold 4.5x what SC1 sold in the first four months.

4.5 million vs. 1 million. SC2 figure is from August to December, SC1 figure is from April to June.

Standard SATA HDD but I look after my shit. I'm looking at getting a SSD soon though!

you and me both, but I fear I still won't be able to justify the cost. I just want one small SSD for my currently being played games to sit on.

I hope we're on track for a December release.

The game looks fucking finished and it's not like there's a need for SC2 level balancing.

A couple of months for the beta and the full game coming out in December is a pretty reasonable guess I think. :D

It's a couple hours of content, times five classes (times two genders if you want).

The intent of the beta is purely to test hardware, server stability, the launcher, patcher, and other very technical bits. We frankly have more than enough testers in-house to test a game like Diablo III for bugs and balance (I fully expect someone to quote this when the game releases with bugs or imbalance). We really need help from the beta to see how it runs on a wide variety of systems, and how the servers hold up with a large amount of people.

Cutting it off at the Skeleton King gives enough gameplay to hit those intents of the beta, and it's a great place to stop as it's also right before some huge spoilers. The game has a fairly straightforward campaign, and so keeping that under wraps is extremely important to us, and we think you'll ultimately appreciate us protecting the sanctity of the release experience. :)

This is important here! Open the floodgates Blizzard! Beta keys for all!

Apologies with bumping this with no new relative news but after seeing a couple of new videos, I am so GOTDAMNED HYPED!

This is looking like some straight crack. D:

If it makes you feel better, I'll use your key in your stead.
Not only do I not have a key, if I did not not have a key you wouldn't but not succeed in prying it from my cold, dead hands.

The NDA hasn't been lifted. Hell, the beta proper hasn't even begun yet, its still all Blizzard employees. The people leaking shit are unscrupulous employees.
