"Übel-Maul" "Stink-Schild der Zerstörer" "Baumkopf-Holzfaust" is good/accetable in your book?

for everybody who doesn't speak german - it translates to "Sick-Mouth" "Stinking Shield the Destroyer" "Treehead-Woodenfist"... and it sounds just as shitty in german

Baumkopf-Holzfaust is legendary.

No, you're right, I forgot that there where some pretty bizarre names. I remembered the voice overs - mostly Deckard Cain, whose voice was well chosen. Bleibt ein Weilchen und hört zu...

Man this game is so amazing. It is absolutely gorgeous. The outside environments all have a painted sort of look to them, it's a really cool effect that I never really noticed in videos but is obvious when playing it. The other really stand out thing for me was the animations and spell effects, even simple things like the waypoint teleport is really awesome.

That is awesome, congrats on getting to play. The visual package as a whole is extremely good for how little horsepower you need. Great art and animation go a very long way in making a visually appealing game.

sry - but everything looks imba if you outlvl an area...
Honestly I don't know if the skills are tweaked for the beta, but everything felt imba. Almost every skill will pretty much one shot any non unique monster. Also, I don't know if its because I was low level, but mana was basically unlimited, I would never run low unless I spammed a ton of abilities, but if I did I just had to wait a few seconds and I was full again.

Yes, if you use higher level wizzard in the newb areas. Same as with all Diablo games.

Sometimes it is fun to take a higher lvl character back to a lower lvl area and lay waste to the bastards that were a PITA first time through. I'm looking at you Flayers and Undead Stygian Dolls!

Ah I wasn't quite sure what lvl area that wizard was in. Apparently a lower lvl :P

While we're all talking about how awesome this part of the beta is.

Where the hell is this? Any confirmation yet of this kind of zone actually being ingame?

Jesus, wizard beam of the imba confimed?

He's over leveled and over geared. In the comments for that sorc video he says:
Well ya, there is like 1h30min of gameplay available in beta and i played like 14 hours, lol. You would not normally be level 13 or have this much gear, clearly
And besides, In D2 everything was over powered. I could melt any monster in the game with my lightning sorc.

If that is a lvl 13 Wizard pretty much everything normal mob he was fighting in that video were 4-7 levels lower.

Looks like it could be, but gotta remember that he's playing in normal mode with just one player, so killing monsters with conditions like that are generally very easy.

The Demon Hunter is the worst in this regard, 4xBola Shoot and you're out of Hatred.

Forgive my ignorance, but when/did they send out the public beta keys? I would like my hopes and dreams to be crushed as soon as possible so that I can move on. lol

Yeah, that was part of the fun for me in DII, achieve a character lvl and a level of gear where you actually had mana to use your skills. Here it seems you don't have to use your skills sparingly at all (in the beginning at least).

Wonder how they're going to balance that, or if this is it.

Not yet. Friends and Family beta only, so far.

I didn't go through all the spoilers, but is it true about
the dota type game in D3?
I saw someone post it in this thread, but I didn't want to seen any other spoilers, so I decided just to ask.

Its listed in the datamined stuff as a gametype. That dosnt mean that it will come to the final game etc.

Looks like Chrono Island from Chrono Cross.

It appears that the official Beta Feedback and Bug Report forums are now hidden for those who aren't in the Beta.

Kind of disappointing, as I enjoy reading that stuff, even if I don't have access, or can't post.

Exactly, It's very strange Oo.

That's why I think hungering arrow is 10 times better (guided arrow + 50% pierce). Evasive fire is also great to use the discipline energy.

Yeah, that sucks. I enjoyed reading those too.

edit: I can still see them. Make sure you don't have the beta section minimized (+) button to the right where it says "BETA"

Checked the name out.

Peter Lee, alias Drawgoon, is an environment and scenery artist who works for Blizzard Entertainment, and a member of the Sons of the Storm.

Peter Lee is one of Blizzard's artists working on Diablo III. Peter is responsible for much of the concept art so far released, especially of cities and natural landscapes, which seem to be his specialty.

So this could very well be an environment, reminds me of Kurast Docks

http://www.diablowiki.net/Skovos

The city is located on an atoll in the Sea of Light, and seems to primarily be a trading harbor for the rest of the Skovos Isles. Skovos' society was, supposedly, founded by a human and angel.

It was revealed during Blizzcon '08's Lore & Art Panel for Diablo III that Skovos will not be visitable by the player during the events of Diablo III, but that internally they fleshed it out quite a bit so that it could be made reference to by people in the game world.

Whoops, guess it was minimized, or I missed it since I had taken another link to get to the forums (from a Blue tracker).

Maybe in the expansion(s) then? Really looks like a fun place to visit/explore.

Someone never played hell difficulty.

Even then if you had a Lightning/Frost Nova Sorc you could plow through most anything, only time I ever died solo was when I got overwhelmed in Hell cow runs, I guess sometimes on Baal. It's all dependent on the gear you have though. That type of Sorc just has really good AOE and DPS though, I could do the same things with my Amazon IIRC.

If I get into the beta, awesome! I can explode some heads as a Monk and get an early taste of Diablo 3. If not, I am cool, since I got away for 2 months and come back early December, so the wait for full D3 won't be too hellish (hoho)

I'm not even going to worry about getting into this beta, I know I will sooner or later, and honestly could care less if I do or don't.

It'd be nice to get in, but if it doesn't happen that's okay. Normally I'd be wanting to get in like no other, but since the beta has such a little amount of content, I feel like I can wait for the game to release before playing.

Have to agree somewhat. I do really want to play to get a hands-on taste, never having been to Blizzcon or the like to play a demo there. However, I don't mind waiting a little while, seeing how there is such a small portion of the game included in this beta - I'd gobble it up quickly and be hungering for more - after playing it myself I'd probably be insatiable, compared to just drooling watching the streams.

Well the last one is basically the same as the english:

I guess you guys didn't get to uber tristram or play long enough to encounter any element-immune monsters.

I think it depends on the time they played. I remember there wasn't any immunities at one point and then they patched it in and it was like WHOA. Total game changer. I never died anyways, played hardcore =D

I'm kind of at a point where I don't really want to play it because I want to go in fresh, BUT if I do get into the beta then I'm obviously going to play the hell out of it.

I was just poking fun at the "could care less" bit. :P

Yeah I played way back, when SOJ's were currency was when I played a TON. Once things shifted to runes I kinda quit or played a lot more casually.

TheExodu5 said:

This is what I tell myself so I don't obsess over it.

Heh, the economy in Diablo 2 was broken as it always revolved around duplicated currency. One of my biggest reasons for anticipating D3 is an actual stable marketplace that revolves around legitimate currency. No more balancing the game around Infinity and other high-rune runewords, which were essentially impossible to get without duped runes.

Terrordactyl said:

I mean it's supposed to be "couldn't care less", not "could care less". The latter implies that you do care, hence my poking fun at it. :P
