Man I'm ridiculously surprised at the rune-stone variations, seriously each skill is in fact 5-6 different ones.

Blizzard really have gone a bit bonkers by making some of the skills totally different to their default style. I love it!

Yeah I mean the depth of character customization is going to be genuinely limitless, I seriously need that beta :(

Yoshi... when can I come visit? Yoshi? You alive bro?

Just so I get this right, there's no more allocation of skill points right? You simply unlock everything and pick 6 active ones at any given time? They're power is increased only by inserting high level rune stones in the skill?

What is also weird, I have not seen any shots of any Rare weapons (D2's Golden weapons) or even the Green Set items. Cannot wait to see what other things they add to weapons to further alter characters. I wonder if the kept some of the weapons having Skills built into them?

You level up, stats increases like WoW (Distributed to your characters based upon what they need) and you unlocks the various skills as you progress. Power will increase based upon stats, gems and the various weapons/Armour etc that might increase specific stats/weapon damage.

Skills increase in power as you level up. They're augmented by runes. Sometimes this means making the skill more powerful, other times it means completely changing what the skill does to make it a better skill for certain situations.

Beyond that, it is unknown yet if there will be specific item attributes which will increase skill power or not... but I wouldn't be surprised if there were.

We feed on what Blizzard give us. They show us Maps, we drool over maps. They show us Artisans, we droll over them. Diablo is all about loot and yet they have not shown any of it. :D

Correct. There is some discussion about enforcing some sort of limitations on where/when you can alter your skill points, but currently you can skill swap at any time. Runestones (and your character level + gear) are the only variables regarding skill power.

Right, thanks for all the replies guys.

I guess I kinda like that decision, I was always way too anal about planning where and when the skill points would go instead of just enjoying them and experimenting a little.

God, why did I think that silly rumor of the beta starting this week held any weight whatsoever..

This is self-torture by now.

I heard a 16th at earliest. It's only the 15th here in the future (ie Australia)

40hr work week keeps me too busy to worry about a beta.

In diablo 2 you could reset both stats and skills :)

I wish I worked 40.

Here is a rather interesting Demon Hunter Build I came up with that centers around Slows/Traps.

Essentially, Low cost for caltrops for aoe slows, 3 spiked traps at once for aoe damage, drop a turret which tethers a damaging chain to yourself, then toss in vault with tumble for a lot of mobility. Entangling shot will be the main shot which tethers 9 mobs at once and multi can provide ranged aoe with discipline regen. Toss in passives for reduced disc, longer traps/turrent and extra damage to slowed mobs.

You can really just pick an ability/effect and build synergy around it! It's fucking awesome and god I wish at least lvl 1 runes were in the beta!!!

only those not in the beta are allowed to complain ;)

Yeah I totally cant get into the skill calculators. It's good as a way to see the skills and their runestones respective effects, but I have no way to know how it actually plays, it's just a list of skills I may or may not have at level 30.

Class Popularity in Beta

Not official- based off unofficial poll of reddit users.

if that's accurate is pretty neat that it's as evenly distributed as it is. That said, I'm not surprised by wizard being on top. Having seen some of the spells, it definitely seems to be the class with the most spell based bling.

i'm playing diablo 3 beta... at work...
*alt-tabs*

man, I wish, mostly because the monitors are huge and they are beast machines.
But most of all, as I've said earlier in this thread, there is a 21" Cintiq which would be incredible to play Diablo on. The pen would be destroyed though.

Back at work. Watching reading everything Diablo related. Youtube blocked. Just streams all day while working.

I will hate all days until this comes out and if I get to beta, for the first time, I will take holiday...

*hopes to really get there to use one gif that sums the feeling which I will have

When you click on the blue gem in the lower page of the skill calculator it will create a random(or maybe not random) build for you.

I'm playing D2 now and not happy with the Necromancer I have right now. So you are saying I can reset and re-allocate everything!!```??

Yeah, but not when I was actively playing it :P.

Go see Akara, she should be able to do so.

Once per act I believe, for doing the Den of Evil quest. It was only added in a patch 2 years ago or so.

Omgggggg

Are the skeletons any good. I feel that the golems were nice meathsields, but they don't dish any decent DPS. I guess corpse explosion is important for the AOE damage...

I was bored, waiting for the Beta and tried Torchlight demo. Pretty fun. Should I dip 15$ ?

even if the beta comes out very soon, and even if you get into it, you'll still be able to finish torchlight before d3 is out at retail.

I bought Torchlight last weekend after trying the demo for the first time. Well worth it for me so far.

Dip it is then.

Second question: Why people seems so eqger to choose one class ? There's only 60 levels right ? And from the streams, you seem to level pretty fast ! Why would you need to commit to only one char ?

It does not work that way. Leveling will slow down drastically pretty soon. Start a new game in Diablo 2, and you can be lv12-15 within an hour. (With /players 8, within 15 mins).

Yea Arnold isn't actually kidding. You level up fast in DII too in the early stages. If people have to play multiple times to get to level cap of 13 in beta that's actually good.
I remember Blizzard saying that DIII Level 60 =/ DII Level 60.
I think they said something like 0-30 normal, 30-50 nightmare and 50-60 hell.

you've gotta have a favourite!

I plan to play all the characters at some stage, but there will be one I prefer over all else.

There's also a horadric cube recipe based on drops from hell act bosses.

Skeletons are boss. Max Skeles, Max Skeleton Mastery, Max Corpse Explosion, profit.

Demon Hunter build without Rockets? blasphemy!

So...

Amazon + Assassin = Demon Hunter
Necromancer + Druid = Witch doctor
Paladin + Assassin/Barbarian = Monk
Sorceress = Wizard
Barbarian = Barbarian
