Didn't get into this beta either. I would like to get into one. Just one fucking beta.

I'm just glad I have numerous games to occupy me.

Fuck, my friend with the beta details is on vacation for the next week. :/ He's trying to get my key, but he's kind of preoccupied with, y'know, family that he hasn't seen in 7 years.

do we know if public non-press keys have gone out yet?
More and more it seems like it's still F&F and press, but press are allowed to stream now.

Although a blue post yesterday said something about keys going out today. So not sure.

Except almost every single soul on this earth along side with their dog and cat also owns anywhere from 80-100% of blizzard library.............so your and my chances of getting in to beta based on product adoption/purchase is slim to none :(

/wrist

I said as much. :p

Probably a dumb question, but how do I purchase the original Diablo these days? They have not made this easy

They don't sell it through battle.net, but I assume you can get a 2nd hand version of it somewhere.

I just looked now and there is nothing on gog.com or elsewhere. Just shareware versions.

Good luck though.

Diablo 1 was never made buyable in digital download form .

A shame, I would nostalgia hard playing that, I guess Blizz are not so bothered about having it on their store, would it need DOSbox or something?

It has serious issues running on ANYTHING nowadays.

Force plays the monk like I plan to: dashing the fuck everywhere, possibly with jizz in my pants.

Isn't that how everyone will play Monk? At least the first time.
Every video I see with Monk it's dash there, dash here

In one package.
Thanks. I just logged in to my account and noticed I can clearly download both PC/Mac client for all of the games on my account - so at least I won't have to wait if it doesn't work out right time wise. :)

He is playing it right. Dash for mobility and dodge. Cool to see you can dodge boss attacks with it. Low Spirit cost will probably be nerfed in the first patch :[

Not that I've seen. More streamers now are people who are producing good content and streaming longer though so it is getting better.

The impact effects in this game are so amazing. D2's are just incredibly dull in comparison. And am I seeing correctly that there's no chance to miss?

That is a good question. I don't know.
In early D II it wasn't a big issue, but iirc hit chance maxed at 95%. Was pretty annoying to miss enemies in Diablo II really.

Yes, there is something wonderful about seeing monsters going flying across the screen. They seemed to have nailed the combat to make it fun and interesting, while still retaining brutal impact. :D

Also to people in the beta:
What is the party exp increase and sharing system like?
How far does a party member need to be to gain experience?

In DII it was something like 2.5 screens iirc?

I know I will probably be the last one in this thread to notice this, but I just read in RPS that you can't pause the game even in singleplayer, what the hell, is this something for the beta only?

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/22/how-diablo-iiis-drm-will-affect-you/
I played D2 single player so little I literally cannot recall if you could pause it then but in multi you couldn't. So this is no real issue for me, besides just recall back to town and you're safe, good as pausing it.

I actually never played SP in DII. A friend introduced me to it and I just straight jumped on Bnet. SP is kinda useless when you have bnet

There really isn't any need to pause, even in single player. Just walk away from an area with monsters, or teleport to the town real quick.

Most of the videos show a lot of dashing because it's such a prominent skill at lower level. Not only is it faster than just walking at times, but I use it to get out of w group of monsters that are kicking my ass. The best use for that skill is to zip around and snag health globes while fighting...at least that's what I use it for!

On battle.net you don't pause games, you pause life.

House on fire and need to put it out? Spilled a drink and need to clean it up? Phone ringing and need to answer? Someone at your front door and you need to see who it is?

Screw that! It's blizzard time!

Open inventory -> town portal scroll -> enter portal -> game autosaves -> go idle. That process takes approximately 5 seconds.

Sort your priorities out. If you keep playing a video games through any of these and not portal back to town, you're an idiot.

In Diablo 2 though even if you're playing on your own, you still want to be playing on Bnet.
Dont see any benefits of playing solo on BN, its just worse experience, there are spam bots, there are lags, there are server maintenance, there are ladder reset, there is char limit per account and in singleplayer You can more easily manage Your inventory with save editor programs or mods.

FieryBalrog said:
Keeping a server running and up to date is pretty expensive (when you account for both the time and money), which tends to fuck with the prevalence of it. A lot of people are into hacking something for the fun/challenge/"making a statement", but way fewer people are into extending that work and effort for multiple years for free.
No, its not that expensive and we are still talking about D3, so any mmo things dont apply.

Ps. Still dont know what's terrible about WoW servers. I know that there are worse and better, but earlier someone mentioned that all of them are bad, why?

I am very sad seein the usual mess turning up by the DRM D3 thread.

I am really sad.
Yep.

I even made, what I think, is a solid post explaining why these decisions are being made and it's being ignored. Some people just want to bitch because they don't have anything better to do than to rage against the machine.

Since I played next to no single player I'm not sure if this affected single player or not, but the updates that introduced events like uber diablo and uber tristram were exclusive to b.net right? Maybe there'll be more stuff like that, then again if that was also in single player then I can't think of much else that b.net single would have in advantage of offline single player in D2.

What does this mean? I'm playing SP but it says I'm connected to battle.net (Gateway: Europe, or something like that) and I can still pause the game with the ESC key.

Mods, You could even have ladder settings in SP/LAN.

You cant on BN, if it just saying Gateway: Europe it means that You can connect there.

Yeah, I saw that post, but hey... this is what happens to reason.

Does it make a difference if I select that? Will I have to start over or can I take my character over with me?

You will have to start over if you start playing in (closed) Battle.Net. Your situation is the exact reason Blizz gave for making D3 online only.
