Complete insanity....It certainly looks leaps and bounds above titan quest, thats for sure.
The only thing required to get in the beta is having a game registered and signing up. So if you have D2, that is enough to get the beta through opt-in. Location seem to be more important, since the last wave was 100k invites to US accounts.Hi, guys! My account just got activated and this is my first post on NeoGAF.
I was very lucky! I registered on friday and Im already in. I have been lurking for months now and thought it would take a long time to be able to post.
So, could you guys answer me this: I have an Radeon HD5450 1GB. Will that allow me to run Diablo 3 well?
Also, if you havent bought WoW or Starcraft, is there a chance you can get into the beta?
Thanks for the help. Happy to finally be here and be part of the discussion!
Servers are only NA. Invites have been sent to other regions as well. Hard to know the breakdown, but most of them are probably sent to NA accounts. The beta is only NA at this time right?

HD5450 is enough to play the game at "low" according to the list that was going around at the beginning of beta. Not sure if that is still valid for release though.

It is only weird in the context of starcraft 2 and bnet2. Diablo 3 is not going to be region restricted (since latency does not affect the games as much as for starcraft). The only restriction is that you can only use your local RMAH, but you can play in all regions (seperate characters of course).Yep, even us euro players play on the US servers. Also, you can post on the US forums with your EU account, kinda of weird when you think about it![]()
I beat the beta and it was fun and made me want the full game. However I have no idea why it took so many years to make? I'm guessing they would prototype, play it, scratch it all and start over..that or it was one of those things were assets just didn't hold up as years went by and they had to just keep updating and rebuilding from playtests. Either way It's cool and it's more Diablo and I can't complain but its not like "OMG this is why this took forever to come out. IT'S AMAZING"

A friend offered me to borrow his acc.
I need the beta client though. Where could one acquire such a thing?
Edit: He told me not to download it through the battle.net acc page, because it could trigger a ban.
Something like that. Not sure if true though. Got the client now.Why would it trigger a ban? You're only allowed to download the client from battle.net on one computer?

Is stuttering a common issue for anyone else? I experience significant stutter on both my laptop and PC (which should both run this without any problems whatsoever). It feels like you need to experience some animations before they stop stuttering. I went into a dungeon and found an enemy I had not yet encountered in my play session. Upon hitting it, the framerate dipped so low that I died before it recovered.
You don't have to take one of those basic skills. I don't as Wizard. Is there any point to using the "swing weapon" ability instead of using the energy/mana/whatever generating moves by default?? As a Monk I see no point in swinging my fist weapons/bo staff/etc. when I could be generating Spirit for my more powerful moves...
Do weapon effects like vampiric and +damage modifiers only apply if you use the default swing weapon attack?
Yeahhh just got kicked out of a single-player run because of a lost server connection.. not entirely thrilled with the battle.net requirement right now.
Awesome beta - feels like Diablo in the finger tips. Blizzard does control better than anyone else.
Maybe I'm crazy, but the graphics don't seem much better than Torchlight even. Not that it matters or anything, but yeah, not impressed.
The fact you don't allocate skill points really bothers me. Makes the game really straightforward - the fact it's so easy doesn't help either. In the past you could make various builds for each class, now it will just be the skills you choose and that's over. How is that better than Diablo II? That's actually worse. I like the game so far but the lack of a challenge and depth of character builds is shameful.

I'm tired of people bitching about this game being easy already. The demo has one difficulty level and yes, it is easy. The final game will have harder settings to choose from.

Yeah you'll be fine. I have a laptop with 310M. And it runs great on medium/low. You can probably run on high with no problem.
Although I 100% understand this is early Act 1 normal and it's mostly a tutorial, after having played Dark Souls, I kinda want a Diablo game from Blizzard with hard mode right from the start.I'm tired of people bitching about this game being easy already. Maybe Diablo 4...
you can always try hardcore mode from the start. I know I will when the game launches...
So far my time with the game and playing with fellow gaffers has been great. I think the art direction, atmosphere, and gameplay mechanics are the appropriate evolution for the series and still provide for a "one more run" experience. I really feel that anyone letting these things hinder their experience because it's not enough like diablo 2 are being blinded by nostalgia.
The game saves every 5 seconds or so, you're unlikely to have lost progress.
Loving Witch Doctor so far, at 12.
Can't wait to dig into the other classes. Maybe I'm crazy, but the graphics don't seem much better than Torchlight even. Not that it matters or anything, but yeah, not impressed.
Anyone having trouble logging on? It sticks at authenticating credentials, then times out.
