one is an mmorpg, the other is an instanced dungeon crawler. false equivalency, much? the always-on connection is a security measure. not that i care either way. it's a sp game, it's a multiplayer game, it's fucking both.
 
What the hell is this, I get home from work and can't play a single player game because of server stress? Fuck this shit Blizzard.
 
Been playing a bit of act 1 normal. So far, champion packs and rare mobs + minions are fucking lethal, they will fuck you up if you don't take them really really seriously. The game is hard, people that complained about difficulty are gonna have to eat a ton of crow.

Uhm, why is the version installed with the EU installer set to American servers by default? Seems pretty stupid, since most people likely won't even check that option.

I am a bit confused about this.

So I thought that Diablo did have a single player game where it was just mobs? But I keep seeing people say it doesn't. When I look it up it also says single/multi. What is going on exactly. It doesn't have a single player with just mobs? Sorry there is too much back and forth and the website and descriptions of the game say one thing but I keep seeing people say something else. I want to get it but only if it does have a single player mode.

I probably won't have my game until tomorrow, but I'm torn on what character I want to be. I am leaning toward the monk. I don't really want to be a barbarian because they just use strength and don't want to really be a wizzard because they relay on magic and spells, that why I'm leaning toward the monk. Seems like he's kinda in the middle. Anyone have any suggestions?? Or tips on things to focus on while leveling up, things that worked for you??
 
So impressed wit the CE edition, even filmed the unboxing dramatic style.I cant believe that its was only 20 dollars more than regular and you get so much goodness!!!! no brainier on my part.

The "single-player" is essentially opting out from having other people with you, more or less. You can play through the game by yourself but it will be online.

It's just two disingenuous arguments butting heads, pay no attention
Argument A: It's always online and therefore it is a multiplayer-only game
Argument B: It is instanced and soloable, and therefore it is by definition single player

It's an attempt to get leverage in the debate over the DRM.

Yeah man, when I opened it up I was expecting the layout to be similar to the WoW CE layout...

It's so damn nice, everything feels like an actual product!

On Leah
she is the daughter of diablo
On the Stranger
he is the arch angel tyrael, who shattered the world stone at the end of D2. The quest to find the shards of the sword, are the 3 shards of his sword

It does...Diablo III just has always online DRM/always on online so friends can join any time during your SP game or you can join them any time.

Diablo I and II separated both single and MP, while III fuses them. You can play 100% solo if you want, but you will have to be connected to the internet to play.

What crazy mystical unicorn currency does your country deal in? In the USA the CE is $40 more than the Standard Edition.
 
Got past the "Retrieving Hero List" only for my hero to show up blank with no profile and everything. Logged out and now I'm stuck at "Retrieving Hero List."

Christ, I'm disappointed.

edit- I know the damned thing's a fusion of single and multiplayer. Why isn't there just an option to play in a closed single player environment while servers are down? And then restablish a connection for drop-in games when the servers are back up?

I just finished ACT I.
Man that cut scene at the end was amazing. The butcher was pretty damn tough as well. Who knew Diablo 3 would have an interesting story, and great cut scenes. I'm really enjoying the hell out of this game. I hope the next few Acts were as good as the first one.

There's nothing to 'focus' on anymore. You don't put skill points into anything. Just pick whatever you want whenever you want it.
