I am I supposed to be getting my butt kicked this early in the game? I mean its taking a bunch of hits for me to take down a simple skeleton or Imp. Currently level 7.

Looks like I went to sleep around the right time. 23 almost done with ACT 2, witch doctor.

Love love love the gfx for witch doctor but a lot of my spells seem useless. Haunt, Explosive Skull, Insect Swarm, Spider Jar seem useless. Plague of Toads/Poison Dart, and the Flamebats seem much much better.

The "single-player" is essentially opting out from having other people with you, more or less. You can play through the game by yourself but it will be online.

Excellent. Thanks. I couldn't figure out what everyone was talking about. And its just mobs then?

If anyone selected their password and CTRL C'ed in order to quickly paste it in repeatedly DONT. You're just copying stars! You have to type it everytime (I think)

I just got in EU!!!!

Odd, it doesn't do that for me. It just pops up the little box in the lower right with the voice. Have you changed anything in the settings?

From what I remember in the beta, some entries are just Journal with no voice-over. I'd assume that's the "problem" here but, hell, I haven't started playing yet so I may be off :x

What crazy mystical unicorn currency does your country deal in? In the USA the CE is $40 more than the Standard Edition.

Haha, mystical unicorn currency indeed, alas it was only twenty American dollars more.I myself was confused at how little you had to put in for the CE edition. What was the price of a CE edition in the states?anyone?

Wait...you don't have to start off on normal? I can use my same character though and just start over in nightmare right?

You have to start on Normal. Once you beat normal, that character can go to Nightmare. Repeat for Nightmare -> Hell and Hell -> Inferno. Think of it as a progression series for the character rather than "difficulty modes."

edit- I know the damned thing's a fusion of single and multiplayer. Why isn't there just an option to play in a closed single player environment while servers are down? And then restablish a connection for drop-in games when the servers are back up?

Save game/character editing. They would have to keep both 100% separated to allow you to have an offline character. No way, could or would they let you connect an offline chracter to bnet.

No, what are you, and what weapon(s) do you have equipped? Monks, Wizards, and Witch Doctors still need to equip weapons for damage even though they don't use them directly.

Yeah man, when I opened it up I was expecting the layout to be similar to the WoW CE layout...

It's so damn nice, everything feels like an actual product!

I know what you saying it almost feels as if its one of those rare CE where you actually get a little more for the price you pay, its up there with the best I have seen for the price.

I can't even start a single player game. Either it gets stucks on "retrieving hero list" during login or gives a bullshit error code about joining a public game when I click on the first act.

Ugh.

Is there any way to repeat quest dialogue or something? It's really annoying to be playing a game and have some fuckface that joined your game skip the dialogue on you... I mean it's the first day! Listen to that stuff! Watch that shit! Savor the game! People seem to be playing this with the same sense of urgency as they played Diablo 2 at the end of its life. I'd play by myself so I could hear the quests, but the game is so much more fun with other players rather than computer guests.

Gotta love the corporate apologists seriously going with the "always online DRM = makes it a multiplayer game!" line.
It's more like no one ever bothered with Diablo II single player, and it might as well be a multiplayer only game.

If the servers were down, and there was a single player option, I still wouldn't be playing it.

To expand on this, the "difficulty modes" are heavily level-tied. Nightmare mobs will be about 30+, so it wouldn't make sense to be able to start nightmare at level 1. It wouldn't just be *harder*, it would be impossible to succeed.

Ok. Fine. Totally understandable.

Why isn't there a single-player option to let people play the game now? A mode where the characters are 100% separate from the battlenet world/characters.

My anger isn't directed at you, just at the situation. Sorry.

This is why I won't even play with my best friends until I've been through everything once, let alone the average b.net public game primate

Lots of people played D2 offline, myself included.

I'm actually doing work over here trying to pass the time. :|

I keep looking at the clock too much so it just feels it it's never going to end:

No offenses were taken whatsoever.

My solution to the frustration:

I'm playing single-player (occasionally with friends) for my first run through because as shitty and stupid as the story is, I have such a long history with the lore that I'd like to see how it plays out. Diablo PUG's always skip the dialogue (as they should), so for me, currently, this might as well be a single-player game.

damn i wanted the kill
diablo
achievment with the date 15 May 2012 :(

Should probably spoiler tag that, dude...
I know I know, it's Diablo and we all knew he'd be in the game. But still.

Not everyone looks at the achievements before beating the game.
