Not a solution, of course, but with Global Play you can go get some game time in on the EU or Asia servers while waiting. Options->Account.

Is that character stuck with those servers or can they be transferred later? I'm 99% sure it's the former but I just wanna make sure.

Watching method fighting the last boss on hell difficulty atm. Really hope Blizzard nerf the ability to spam res during combat, do it like in WoW where if you keep dying within a short span of time, you will start having to wait a bit before you can res. It's the sole reason method are actually able to fight the boss atm. They were just down to 1 guy alive out of 4, he manages to res one with luck, then 1 guy hass the boss on him, while the other guy resses the others, it's lame imo.

Diablo gaf, I really am sorry.
I had a just a brief moment to play D3 for the first time with a guest pass. In fact, this is the first time I have ever played a Diablo game. I put in about 40 minutes and had to head out to dinner. All the while at dinner I was thinking how enjoyable those brief minutes were. Such a seemingly simple mechanic of moving/attacking is, ironically, extremely fun and requires some tactic.

Getting home from dinner, I bid my wife a good night and head over to my mac to get another sweet taste of this game...but am of course met with server errors.

My heart truly goes out to you Diablo Gaf. I, having played it for just moments already have a flicker of an addiction blooming deep inside. I can not even imagine how difficult this must be for the many who took work off or stayed up into the middle of the night praying it will work.

My deepest condolences goes out to you.

I hate the menu music in that game. I remember finding it incredibly and unpleasantly jarring each time I entered the menus and the music changed. And the way I play JRPGs, I basically live in the menus.

You understand how time zones work, right? It's 2:25 PM in Japan now. Since I signed up on a US version of the game and started my characters on that server, I will be playing in about an hour, 2:30am eastern. Hopefully these issues won't continue that late/early.

Pretty typical French Canadian (or is he straight French) online gamer from my experience. We had a small contingent of Fr. Canadians in my WoW guild while I was playing, and Athene embodied each and every one of them.

Yep. Honestly, anyone who has played WoW knows Blizz's track record with big launch days.

I fully expected to not be able to play at all the first few days. I'm not saying it's right, but it is reality.

If so, it seems like the runes unlocked at a later date would be better so your essentially playing the same character everyone else is playing and are exactly as powerful as any other same class character at the same level. Am I not understanding this correctly?

Damn I remember this guy. They had some kind of hero worship going on with him at the WoW forums a while back. I think he's always the first person worldwide to hit the new level cap when a WoW expansion launches.

Runes you unlock won't necessarily be better. You just unlock more options, basically.

In my experience the later runes are not always better and neither are the later skills. I'm only level 14 but I've found myself switching skills and runes depending the enemy types that I'm facing and the terrain.

Its about combining various skills/runes in combination with the gear you are wearing.

Interesting. I'll have to play more to really get a grasp of it. I got a taste of it in the beta but it was limited. I'm playing a wizard like I did in Diablo 1. I am excited to see how he plays. Hydra is my favorite spell. Too bad you can only cast 1 at a time!
