To maintain a meaningful economy online, the servers have to do that work. You can see what happened when they didn't with D1 especially, but even D2 where some work was duplicated on the server. Maintaining an offline mode would mean essentially maintaining two very different versions of the game. You might suffer from the delusion that that's simple, but it's really not.

DRM is a nice bonus for them, but I think it's pretty obvious that they just prioritized the integrity of the online game over your desire to play the game disconnected.
 
Anybody know if there is a way to rebind the Alt key? I think it's really great that you can set it as a toggle on/off now but it's super annoying that it actually toggles if you alt tab or if you want to do an item compare with your offhand...

anyone done a cursory dps analysis between dual wielding two hand crossbows, or single wielding and using a quiver as a DH?

i cant figure out how dual wielding would help you, seems to attack at the same pace as just using one weapon... obv the increased stats would make it gud but attack speed seems the same
 
Just started the game. Like others have mentioned, latency is high (300ms). Also the game was super stuttery until I switched to full screen windowed mode. Thank god for that option. I still have no idea why some games are like that.
 
Anyone play the game WHILE the game was installing? There is a yellow marker which says that the game is playable once you go past that bar on the installation menu. I was wondering if someone has played the game while installing and how the experience differs.
 
Lvl 11 Wizard. Not finding it as fun as I had hoped..kinda wishing I chose Monk. Can anyone confirm if Wiz gets funner later on?

my friend was playing wiz, was pissed off with it until about level 13ish 14ish. then he started killing shit.

all the classes become more fun around that level, when you unlock three or four skills which are actually worth using. game really opens up then.

There was alot of skipping and stopping when I tried so I just waited till it was completely done.
 
Game's fun times so far, fairly simple, but I expect it to ramp up (level 5 wizard atm).

The disconnects are infuriating. I just got disconnected during a battle with some named blues. I'm sure I'll log on to find myself dead.

I wasn't expecting MMO rules and MMO problems with this shit.
 
So, uh, I just reconnected. All my character progress is intact (level, experience, loot gained)....but my map has been wiped out and I'm back, storywise and exploration-wise...at the start of the Cathedral level 1?

Fuck me. What is this.

How are you ever supposed to be able to confidently keep playing knowing that you might have to repeat a whole fucking dungeon at any given moment?

God damn.

Should I be 'saving' periodically somehow? I was under the impression that, since we're ONLINE all the fucking time that the one benefit we'll get is that all types of progress are automatically being recorded and saved, just like a persistent online game.
 
lol what the fuck is happening, I can run around the current map I'm in, but nothing is functional, enemies aren't moving, attacks do nothing, passage ways don't work, just nothing going on, even pressing escape and leave game doesn't do anything.
 
I'm not unlocking achievements, for some reason. Doesn't seem I'm alone in this either. Oh well. There will always be subsequent playthroughs to do them.
 
So am I going to ever get my achievements back or they going to reset every single time? I'm missing all of my act 1 achievements.
 
useless apartment managers decided to close shop 2hrs early with my copy in their office. At least it seems like I'm not missing out on much at this point.

Make sure windows isn't cranking down the CPU to 5% or so when it thinks you're being idle while plugged in (easiest way is to change the power presets to performance instead of balanced when plugged in). If that doesn't help, go into the BIOS and make sure it's not overruling windows on power management stuff.

I changed the power options to high performance just now, but i'm still experiencing the problem. :( I'll check out my BIOS and see if I can find anything.
 
It runs fine on my friend's 15 inch Macbook and like ass on my 13. I can't even have fun with it, it's basically unplayable.

Sigh. I guess I'll have to wait until I get a new computer.

Are you selling the CE key or just a standard edition key? I'd think the CE key might go for a decent amount later on, Tyreal wings and all.

EDIT: Damn it, do I play solo or just leave my game open to friends and family for first time through x_x



I guess normal solo and then team up with GAF and others for harder difficulties...

Try different skill set ups. My favorite for Wiz is using charged bolts for close range and ice beam for single target or long range.

Magic missile + arcane blob isn't really fun imo
 
played 5 hours or so last night with no lag
was pretty great actually

then i check metacritic and the user average is like 3/10
hahaha wtf?
