Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

This is awful. I love how they proudly announce "OUT ON MAY 15th" and for half the day it's the servers that are out rather than the game itself lololol

Same situation here. we have a group of friends who are going to do a hardcore run together, only ever playing with each other.

All of your abilities are based off of weapon damage. If you check the option to use "advanced tooltips" then you will see. Abilities will say something like "does 150% weapon damage", etc.

Also, your weapon type doesn't matter, you typically just want something with the highest dps (damage per second).

I have my Monk that I held off since my Wizard partner was MIA; leveled a WD to 10 so I could go Hardcore on a Wizard. Wizard got to like 11 or something and then back to the Monk ... who is also 11.

I just want to do more of the content I haven't seen. Come on guys :|

This is just a guess, but I'm going to venture that the game servers crashed and then the influx of complaints to the forums crashed those.

Shit rolling down hill, in other words.

The servers may be down now, but those were the best three hours of my life.
Maybe not, but it's still pretty damned good.

You know what I'll say was a really stupid decision on Blizzards part...the guest passes being usable for the first week or two of service. Not only are you putting more strain on the servers than you probably anticipated but those people who have yet to put money down aren't getting a warm a fuzzy feeling right now.
 
What? I was soloing and it gives me an error now saying:

"Please ensure that all party members are not in a game, and no party invites are pending"

No friends are online and I was playing alone... WTF...

Uh, yes, it's called massive parallel processing.
 
I'm still very early and it's super easy regardless at that point, but spamming jar of spiders is kinda hilarious & awesome. I know most people seem to go with poison dart and I'm sure it's more effective in the long run, but man, get a decent weap and those jars make you unstoppable combined with the AOE snare and dogs. Enemies never even get close to me and they all die quickly.
 
I keep getting great gear for classes I haven't played yet. I have two legendaries for two different classes, both looted in act 1 so they don't have insane stats. :(


edit: I'm also trying to convince my friend that exp gear is useless and he should keep his magic find gear on. He keeps wanting to level faster than me -.-

Is the game shite because you have to be online? or is the game shite because you dont like loot-based arpgs. Serious question because yes launch day hasn't been ideal but really is it THAT big of a deal that the servers have been down on and off a few hours on launch day?

my partners got freaking ROASTED, I rezzed one of them during the fight, they were in chat freaking out about him being back while he beat on them. Hilarious.

Is it possible to add people as friends outside the game itself? My friend requests seem to not be going through (no surprise) but if I can enter it somewhere else that'd be great. It's impossible to easily remember someone's nickname due to the goofy "hashtag" identifier.
 
I'm amazed this game runs so well on my laptop. I've only had a bit of server lag so far, no real framerate issues or anything.

I've never played a Diablo game. This is pretty fun. I do NOT understand, however, why they couldn't just have an offline mode. Just separate it completely from the online, don't let offline players play or trade with anyone (except maybe on a LAN). Don't let them migrate their offline characters to online. It wouldn't have been particularly difficult.

But, I guess they're making more money this way. =P
 
Honestly, BC, Wrath and Cat all had pretty solid launches with minimum downtime. I played them all at midnight/3am, and all throughout their day 1's, and week 1's. It was some major patches that had catastrophically bad day 1's. And yet, none of them as bad as this. None of them.
 
I'm really glad I took off work today!

Sure, the servers were borked for the first hour or so but, literally, from 4AM until 3PM I was consistently logged into the game - I took one or two breaks for food/bathroom but got in almost 10 hours of exceptional quality playtime logged in (no lag or anything) before the Emergency Maintenance this afternoon... Completely finished up through Act 2, starting Act 3 on my Witch Doctor. Luckily it was right around that time I was wanting to take a break anyways; went to the gym, worked out, and when I came back the servers were back on and I was able to play another 3 hours before they went down just now. Rolled a Demon Hunter alt and got it to level 12 and then played about an hour of my Witch Doctor.

I'm working from home tomorrow, hoping I'm not too busy so I can log in during the work-day when it's less crowded like earlier today.

It really doesn't. They didn't put in all that lore and all those random NPC conversations and all those other little "single player" details for you to stop and soak up just for the game to only be about charging through with a team as quickly as you can to get shinier loot.
 
I'm stuck at the "Checking for Updates" screen, similar to an error I got during the Beta... fuuuudge. After I played a bit under "playable" conditions with 54% loaded, which was awesome, I went out... came back, STILL 54% loaded, tried to restart client, now I can't get the Launcher to work again. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER BLIZZARD.

Game was awesome though.

Yeah but that was the third expansion. Servers and tech had already been there for years. This is a brand new game with new servers and netcode to deal with. There are a gazillion different problems they could run into that they haven't before.
 
Okay people. One thing - please be better with your spoiler tags. Put what Act whatever it is you want to talk about outside the tags.

Also - the meltdowns in this thread have been hilarious. People need to chill out.
 
Now their official website is getting slammed down.

Seriously, Blizzard is like the one company with the most experience with massive online launches...and they've failed every single one of them.

That's funny, because I looked around and didn't see anyone playing but me and a NPC Templar.

edit: and yes, I know how it all works and knew what I was getting into. Still sucks there's no offline mode. They could have made it a separate .exe to stop people from duping and hacking in the single player and bringing shit over to the multiplayer.
