Great advice for my barb. I was binding those 1-4 keys to my extra mouse buttons, but going with ASDF is much better.

I also changed to Leap/Ground stomp. Seems a great combo at level 13. I use cleave and rend also.

Leap in, ground stomp, apply rend and then cleave till death. Piece of cake :P.

Just wait till you get the Earthquake ability and the Ground Stomp perk that draws people in close to you.

Run into a giant group of mobs with a full rage level, Leap, Ground Stomp (Stuns and sucks everyone close to you) drop Earthquake (2000% weapon damage over 8 seconds).

The glorious death of everything. Even rare monster packs fall quickly.

All players get complete control. Anyone can push a quest forward, and it pushes it forward for all the players. If someone initiates a quest-related dialogue, then all of the other players who are at least in the vicinity see the dialogue too.

Hmm, ok, so as long as I'm not playing with some asshole who's just rushing past shit, I should be able to get the same experience as if playing solo?

Thought the game was good on nightmare? LOL, try hell.

Agh, I want to punch people that skip the sequences. The game's a day old! Let the shit play out... Now I don't know what the hell happened... ugh...

I was actually playing with friends last night that kept doing this. I told them to stop several times then finally just left and played with another friend who wasn't in "rush" mode. Seriously, games a freakin day old, soak in as much as you can.

I think D3 does it at such a pace and with awesome explosions and sfx, that the repetitive nature becomes less of an issues. Currently I am going through the storyline and side-quests but I seriously cannot get enough of punching things till they explode.

All the little graphical details and sounds add to the delight for your ears/eyes. Of course seeing a piece of loot drop is usually the highest factor in the addiction, but the graphics/sounds for exploding enemies definitely mask the repetitive nature for me. It's fun to wade through seas of enemies.

Compare that to WoW for example which has completely sterile kills/death animations.

I'm a Monk, and I can't stop clicking on monsters and watching them explode by way of kung-fu, picking up shit they drop, then doing it over and over and over and over and over and...

Sounds great :D I really like playing the Barb, the leap ability almost makes it worthwhile playing the class alone. So much fun! Not to mention duel wielding two scythes is pretty 'bad ass'.

In relation to achievements going missing, I thought I'd add me and my other half have played every second together, I've lost about 130 points, she, 100. Surprisingly one of the ones she still has is the SK on Normal boss achievement - Seems to be the most problematic for everyone.

It's strange that we can both kill him at the same time, I lose the achievement logging in today, she still has it.

Alright, I'm stuck. My current objective says go to highland crossing but there's no arrow or anything of where I have to go so I'm completely lost. :/ It's right after you
beat the spider queen thing

It's the reason I'm playing single player right now to simply enjoy it fully. I don't quite get the thrill of rushing through the damn game so fast and attempting to earn every single achievement.

Noob question. Magic Missile does 110% of weapon damage, so does that mean its better to equip this short sword I found rather than the initial wand? I imagine I'll eventually find more magic skewed weapons to equip, I just though this was kinda strange if that's how it works.
Spell damage is based on wep damage so yes, it's better to equip a wep with higher dps. My wizard was running around with a 2 handed axe for a while.

One thing that makes this a bit too repetitive for me is that the quest rewards... well... there really aren't any. Since Diablo 2 had stat points and skill points and things like that you got a lot of cool rewards throughout. You got a few skills or stats or resistances or a random item, etc. In this you literally get nothing for the quests.

Really, I think they ruined some of the replay ability of the game with that and the fact that there's absolutely no reason to make another character of the same class.

Do you ever sleep? Or work?
I sleep occasionally. I can take vacation whenever I want from work, this is one of those vacations.

I think I have that issue as well. I completed the boss you mention in your spoilers last night, went back to town and then logged out. When I login just now it takes me back to that boss lair with no direction of where to go next?

As my other half is unable to play just now I'm not carrying on any further - Simply logged in today to check achievements (and sadly lost quite a lot from last night to today).

You have to exit out of the back of that room. Just go back to the room and leave out of the new exit. I ran there thinking you could get out but no doorway lit up but it's there now that I went back. You need her to leave with you.

I have been saying this since beta. I see a lot of people shelving this game in a month once they get all toons to 60. The end game aspect is almost cut off short. But we shall see, they can add stuff in patches to make it much better! (hopefully)

For those saying game is ezmode...Have you just been soloing? My friends and I have been playing with the 3 of us, and the game is SIGNIFICANTLY harder with 3 people over 2, and it's loljoke solo.

having to right click yellow items to 'indentify' them seems pointless, can anyone explain why this is part of the game? i'm sure there is a reason that i am just overlooking... so i'm curious.

This has been answered SO many times.

It's the "magic" of revealing stats, and also for gambling purposes.

Wait, does the game really just save when it's actually saying "savepoint"? So if I play a bit after it, go back to town, trade some stuff etc. and then log out I'm fucked??

All I can think of is the nostalgia of finding an unidentified item. Just an extra little surprise.

edit: also what he said above.

It's the end of the first quest of Act 1 :x

Edit: Out of curiosity, does the Starter Edition end with "YOU CLEARED THE DIABLO III STARTER EDITION" message? I really, really hope it does...

Nice!
Yes, it informs you that you reached the end of the starter edition and that you can continue playing but won't get any new quests unless you buy the game, with a prompt to buy the game

Got enough juice going to your system? That potentially sounds like a power supply issue to me (not enough power or faulty). As the other guy mentioned too, some games really don't like GPU overclocking, so try turning that off as well if you have it cranked up.

Edit: To elaborate on this, the official recommendation for this card is a 500W power supply. That should probably be more than enough, but it's going to depend on what else is running in your system and the relative quality of the power supply itself. If you are running, say, some no-name 450W, that may very well be your issue.

My PSU is a 550W Ultra brand. I know it's not the best, but I wasn't expecting this kind of behavior. My card is not OCed at all, though I did have it OCed initially and turned it back to stock clock speeds thinking that was the issue.

As far as I can tell it's constantly backing up your loot tables; if THAT stuff gets lost it's due to a server crash and rollback (which hopefully will become vanishingly rare in the very near future). Progress through dungeons and such are based on a checkpoint system, though.

Yeah, I don't mind skipping dialogue or the cg movies since it doesn't skip them for everyone, but the in game cutscenes are kind of important. My friend skipped the scene (middle - late act 1 spoilers)
where Deckard Cain is killed, and when they talked about burying him
at the end of act 1 we were like wtf. I got a little annoyed at that.

As a monk, you want to equip your best weapons regardless of the weapon type because your attack damage is based on your weapon damage, right? I'm still in Act 1, so maybe as the game moves on the Monk specific weapons will bubble up to the top but right now I'm running around with a dagger and a shield and, as stupid and superficial as it may sound, I hate the way it looks. I kind of wish the weapons weren't visible unless they are fist weapons or staffs.

I think so. Eventually you will start to see weapons that have a bonus to spirit regen. This may be something to choose over damage as then you will be able to spam skills more. I'm not really sure if there is a way to calculate what is better.

I don't think so. I just played a bit through a dungeon after a savepoint, teleported to tristram, sold stuff and closed the game. I now restarted and I'm back before the savepoint with the loot I sold before still in my pocket... :(
