fuck FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Was that hardcore? If so you have every right to rage right now.

As I never play games on PC and I only have a non-gaming laptop, Diablo III is not an option at the moment. I am thinking about starting with Diablo II + expansion. I see I can buy those games on DVD and I guess my 2 year-old laptop will run it perfectly. I would play off-line single player only.
Are you sure you couldn't run Diablo III? I don't play many PC games and I'm running it on a 3 year old laptop and it runs fairly well on low settings. It might be worth looking into at least unless you're familiar with your specs.

Try this out if you're interested.

And this is why Blizzard fucked up pretty bad with their decision. Non-HC is going to suck, but to have a HC die because of a server hiccup? Absolutely unfair.

E: Sorry bro. Feels bad. :\

Just beat the game on Normal.
They totally set up the ending for an expansion with some sort of Heaven civil war with Imperius.
10/10 would play over and over and over and over and over again.

So guys... after some initial thought and use of the auction house, I have some concerns about the way items are handled in D3 and hope some smart people can allay my fears!

Obviously they've opted to not use the "Bind on Equip/Pickup" restrictions that apply to games like WoW, which I thought was pretty cool at first. However, after looking at the AH yesterday for legendary items, I was quite shocked at the sheer quantity already available.

Now I know that it is launch week and they are low level items, but if there is nothing to provide attrition to items in D3, is it not likely that we end up with a completely saturated market for all level items at some point down the line?

This has me worrying that the real money AH (or traditional for that matter) will eventually be flooded and consequently their use and appeal diminished.

Items increasing cumulatively, coupled with their perpetual tradability, will surely make everything a bit 'common', no? Tell me I've missed something guys!

That is the way of D. The economy always started off slow on ladder resets and after items had been stockpiled they were everywhere. What will end up happening is shit will be VERY VERY expensive (gold). If you want something super awesome, it will cost you a LOT of coin in order to buy. But you will make money by finding your own items.

The AH will in no way be trivial, it will serve it's purpose but instead of before in D2, when it was hopping around in games trying to find the item you wanted, now you just go buy it. The prices will even out and find a balance later on. Give it a 3-5 months.

You think a Diablo 3 trading thread would be useful/allowed/needed later on?

Is anyone else having trouble with texts/icons being too small?? I have to strain my eyes like fuck while playing. And because I'm not very used to games like this, never played previous Diablos, I really have to read hints and infos to understand what I'm doing.

So far though I like the game. But it's very, very easy (I'm lvl 8), I've not been close to dying even once yet. Only having played on 2-player co-op, it definitely feels like the game will really start to shine on higher difficulties where you need to be more tactical.

An Open Letter To Publishers

Dear Publishers,

You may be looking at D3's online-only DRM and thinking to yourself "This is fantastic, we need to implement this in our game as well." I'm penning this letter to let you know that unless your game is insanely good that is not a wise choice.

Blizzard has virtually unlimited resources at their disposal, and they can barely make it work. The only saving grace for them is that they make games so good that we are willing to put up with this horseshit. Unless you can look at your game and honestly say "Yes, my game is as good as Diablo III" then you had best rethink any ideas you may have about online-only DRM.

I know, "We won't have to worry about pirates blah blah blah." You also won't have to worry about anyone buying your game, because D3 is the game that is teaching us all what it's like to block off some time to play only to find that the servers are down and you can't play your single-player experience even though your internet connection is just fine.

I know some of you are going to try it anyway. I'll be here to say "I told you so."

Sincerely,

Risible

Dear Blizzard,

Thanks for making Diablo 3, I'm really enjoying it, and aside from the hour or two at launch, I've had almost no issues. I feel the game is worth my money, and look forward to going home so I can play some more.

Regards,

Burger

You think Blizzard can restore the char? I mean he died due to a server hiccup. Seems too unfair.

Nope. Right when you make your character for hardcore that's the first thing that is stated on the screen.

It sucks that it happened that way ;_;

Dear Blizzard,

I played Diablo III for over 24 hours since it's been out. Thanks for the fun game.

Love,

Thoraxes.

About achievement issues
Played for a few hours last night before I realised that I'm not getting any achievements at all. I'm not too fussed (otherwise I would have noticed earlier and stopped), but I'd like to have them anyway. Only realised when I started to get loads of announcements that friends were getting them.

the what?
Indirect damage, I assume he means managing your army of minions.

Hmm........ Anyone else have this? I forgot what dropped it. Looks to be a pain to get the materials. I know wirt's bell is 100k from a vendor.
Plus everything is bind to account. NO FUN ALLOWED.

So you can login right now? cuz my ass is getting blueballed by error 3003

you guys think you have it bad in the US, try being Australia, at least your servers are in the same continent

So realistically, the only valid way for you to play HARDCORE would be to play on regular. If you die due to server bullshit, you keep on trucking. If you die due to own fault, stop playing the character and delete him.

This will take more willpower than just selecting HARDCORE, but ultimately with the lag problems, there is no other way to do it.

Well.
You see the Blackstone fall after Diablo disintegrates into the nothing when falling from the heavens. Meaning someone's going to find it and knowing Blizz, bring back some evil. Plus the mention of Leah's soul being lost, you could be set out to bring her back because she could be the only one to control the Blackstone. Go fig eh? :)

You can get the mats on normal, which isn't so bad.

Those 50g's are more though.

Having your profile say HARDCORE is pretty badass tho.

Well I can tell you right now.

SPOILER:
The Staff of Herding recipe is dropped off of Izual in Act IV, craft the item after you get all the pieces and then bring it to a dead cow on Old Tristram road and you will activate the Whimyshire, the rainbow pony level.

No, I'm not making that up.

Launch night and the day after my game ran fine, a little fps stuttering whne a bunch of enemies were on screen, but fine. But last night my game caused my computer to blue screen 7 goddamn times I'd play for 15 minutes and BAM, blue screen.

I updated my graphics drivers just before playing last night to try and fix the stuttering problem, you guys think this might be my problem?

I only played a couple hours of Diablo II but I'm loving the hell out of this game so far. It's been said to death, but the UI is amazing. I'd love Blizzard to make one of these super hardcore Risk-type strategy games one day with that kind of production values.
Having to wait for the servers to be back up brings me back to my dark WoW days though. And I'm never going to use that AH anyway.

I thought this or END GAME SPOILERS
All the lords of hell getting loose. I could be wrong but it seemed like at the end the black soul stone fell. Pretty much seemed to set up expansions going any way possible. Or were all of them dead after end boss?

fuck FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Happened to me 4 times yesterday on ACT 1. NOT Hardcore though. It would freeze when I was hitting the logs, then 5 seconds later I died and swarms of enemies were surrounding me. I was so pissed after the 4th time, but I kept on playing haha.

The game was super vague there at the end, not much really tied up... it could pretty much go whever they want it to
