Are people really this obviously stupid? So people are saying that on national TV with cameras and pundits and advisors from BOTH side, Kerry was able to stealthily pull out some paper with some secret information it or somehow receive secret signals froms advisors or someone?

This has got to be the dumbest thing I've heard this year (and the year has been full of dumb stuff). People just can't accept that Bush had has ass handed to him. Bush sucks at public speaking - this should be news to no one! Even the conservatives on Crossfire described watching Bush during the debate as 'as scary watching a drunken old man trying to cross the street in winter' (paraphrase). There is no conspiracy, no secret notes, no presidential speech class (apparently).

Just deal with it.

It's really gotten to the point where you have to:

a) go insane from the ridiculous spin machines and uninformed opinions of the masses, or

b) shut everything out and make up your own damn mind.

Personally, I choose b).

"At least I explained why Bush is fucking pathetic in my following post. Bush supporters throw blanket statements around talking him up, and then can never backup their claims when the time comes."

Why would any Bush supporter want to talk here? It would be like trying to it at the Democrat National Convention. This place is raging with liberals, not that it's bad or anything. There was a thread asking about who you support, and like several people said Nader. That's not common.

I am an independent, and I like neither candidate right now.

Btw, hasty generalizations make very weak arguments. Though, I'm not saying that other guy's argument was any better.

There are plenty of conservatives here and they posted often, esp during the swift boat controversy.

Kerry has some major explaining to do, as to why he thinks the rules do not apply to him. For all we know, Kerry had a hand held palm computer at his podium.

Cheating in elections is what the 'Rats do. I'm amazed that everyone seems so shocked by it.

yeah, i guess outright stealing an election is better!

This notes business is a minor scandal. Is there anyone out there who does not think that Lehrer gave Kerry a heads up on the questions? The hatred of Bush in the elites is without bound. And Lehrer is a charter member of the elites. Violating the rules of the debate mean nothing to these people as they prosecute their Jihad against the Republican majority in general and G.W. Bush in particular.

:lol :lol :lol

I'm sure he did. There is a big difference from violating time constraints, though, and reading from bullet points. Debates are supposed to be spontaneous, Kerry is attempting to cheat the American people by giving the impression he speaks well off the top of his head. he's going to get nailed for this over the airwaves and net. Bad form, Senator.

BAD FORM!!!

:lol

I can't wait for this election to be over so the american public can go back to caring of less pointless crap. Seriously, even the sharks are better than all this political hoopa la. I never want to hear WMD, flip flop, Swift boat, etc. again.

The arguments are often pointless, but the consequences are anything but.

Typical spin...

No conservatives on GA.

Hello, what do you call Meier, DJ Slam, Ripclawe, Cooters, and keeblerdrow? Oh I dunno...

Stop with the "Oh look at me I'm a victim" bullshit. Seriously, I thought conservatives were supposed to be "manly men". Not "Girly girl" whiners.

You might not be the majority, but there are many conservatives present on these boards.

Did you even read my post? I'm not overly conservative, nor liberal.

But keep stacking the hasty generalizations up...Make a label for everyone.

He's just responding to your implied assertation that Bush supporters wouldn't want to post here. Sirpopopop brought out the names of various conservative posters who have posted here, some quite heavily.

It would help your argument if you provided some details on "generalizations" and why Bush backers wouldn't want to post here. We already know about your claims of being "not ovely conservative, nor liberal". The argument about the board lacking a conservative segment has been used before. Trasher used it here. I've seen Eric-GCA use it and IIRC Makura too.

Nobody cheated, ok? Is it really that hard to accept that Kerry is just a better debater than Bush? I mean, who isn't?
Actually Bush spoke out of turn, which is technically 'cheating'.

One of the two used a piece a paper with notes in a debate.
One of the two used crap intel to invade two countries, causing the death of 1000+ american soldiers, and untold number of civilians, to capture one man

This thread is over.

I don't know which debate you watched. The one I watched, Kerry spoke for 20+ seconds out of turn, Bush followed up in a legitimate 30 extension, and then Kerry got the next real question. He didn't get a chance to rebuff Bush because he spoke out of turn. If you want to argue semantics...

IIRC, the media experts were saying that Gore won the debate, but the sighs and body language hurt him badly.

Yeah, he sighed just like Bush, and tried to physically intimidate him in the town hall debate. It led to a humourous quip from Bush about intimidation as Gore was hawking over him.

When did we start caring about actual substance in debates?

I may have missed that part. I went to smoke about an hour into it.

Do you remember when there was a 30 sec extension and Kerry went first even though it wasn't his turn? Bush followed with a 30 sec, and Kerry was asked the next question?

Like ANY of this means a shit, but yeah. Gotta stick up for my boy even though he got his ass whupped.

Bush definately spoke out saying, "Can I address that?" or something to that effect.

Or are you talking about the time when Kerry said something like "lets just change all the rules after the fact" near the beginning of the debate? Because if so, it was Bush's turn to talk, provided there was a 30 rebuttal granted. Like I said, all of this means shit after the fact.

I'm not talking about that. There was another time well into an hour into the debate where Lehrer asked a related question as a 30 sec rebuttal time, and Kerry jumped in when it wasn't his turn. Kerry didn't take all his time, Bush took all his, and Lehrer asked Kerry another question.

When Bush said that, Kerry said "sure let's change all the rules" or something to that effect. I don't think of that as speaking out of turn so much as asking the moderator for an arbitrary 30 sec rebuttal.

>>to stave off the libs>>

What was damn funny was when Bush asked for a rebuttal, and then stared into the camera motionless for about 10 sec before starting "I....I..."

I didn't find that funny so much as disturbing. One of the most poignant and marked moments of the night.

Why are libs so humorless? Sometimes you gotta laugh to keep from crying. Way to avoid to crux of my post btw.

Bush reading a kid's book to keep from crying? Time for us to cry. Bush hemming and hawing at a debate? Time for libs to laugh.

Stop taking everything so seriously. You can bet that your "heros" don't take it as seriously as you guys.

I believe I know when you're talking about. Before going to the 30-second rebuttal, Lehrer asked a short question to both of them. However, Kerry responded in a long-ass enough way that it counted as his extra 30 second segment. Here it is in the transcript. Prior to this is Kerry with his 90 second rebuttal.

LEHRER: I want to make sure -- yes, sir -- but in this one minute, I want to make sure that we understand -- the people watching understand the differences between the two of you on this.

You want to continue the multinational talks, correct?

BUSH: Right.

LEHRER: And you’re willing to do it...

KERRY: Both. I want bilateral talks which put all of the issues, from the armistice of 1952, the economic issues, the human rights issues, the artillery disposal issues, the DMZ issues and the nuclear issues on the table.

LEHRER: And you’re opposed to that. Right?

BUSH: The minute we have bilateral talks, the six-party talks will unwind. That’s exactly what Kim Jong Il wants. And by the way, the breach on the agreement was not through plutonium. The breach on the agreement is highly enriched uranium. That’s what we caught him doing. That’s where he was breaking the agreement.

Secondly, he said -- my opponent said where he worked to put sanctions on Iran -- we’ve already sanctioned Iran. We can’t sanction them any more. There are sanctions in place on Iran.

And finally, we were a party to the convention -- to working with Germany, France and Great Britain to send their foreign ministers into Iran.

LEHRER: New question, two minutes.

Yep you know what I'm talking about. He asked a follow-up and Kerry jumped right in. Knew I couldn't have been the only person to see it. Thanks.

God damnit.

First off, I think EVERYONE should find the most powerful man in the world's distinct stupidity at times to be disturbing, and not amusing.

Secondly, I'm not a liberal. Quit it with this US vs THEM mentality. There are some of us that would rather not be defined that simply don't like the Bush administration.

Also, with respect to liberals, as opposed to conservatives, apparently not having a sense of humour, where is the conservative equivalent of The Daily Show? Where are the right wing equivalents of David Cross and Al Franken? Why are the hardcore conservatives on this board NEVER FUNNY?

In closing, shut up. Shut up. For the love of God, shut up.
