MEH.. I got this when I booted up my secondary PC today.
During bootup where it says you can enter BIOS etc and where it lists clock speed, detected IDE devices etc, the startup process froze and this came up.
“Primary slave hard disk fail”
Primary slave: Maxtor CALYPSO YAR43KJZ <-- This isn’t the Harddrives normal name, I think it is a Maxtor 6Y080P0
So it looks like its dead, but is there any way to salvage some of the information on the disc? I listened for scratching sounds, I could hear something that sounded like scratches but it was hard to make out if it came from the HDD because of the loud frickin CPU fan.
This came out of no where.. Damn, the HDD isn’t that old (only a few months), Im going to look into if they can replace it for me. Thank god it wasn’t the main HDD.
