Thanks to filing jointly I was able to pay my recent dental bill with 0MB bux without touching set aside/savings. Perhaps a Benchmade is in my near future :messenger_smiling_hearts:

Get used to the government sending you cash. In the very near future when these guys (and the endless other variants of robots and autonomous systems) take all the jobs, you'll be getting a UBI (universal basic income) check every month. As a Christian and conservative, I believe that hard work is good for our virtue and I fear what will become of us when we have so much free time and money. But the robot revolution is impossible to stop and they will change the world as much as PCs and the internet did.

I live in Germany, so no. Well, we did have lowered VAT for six months, from 19% to 16%, and from 7% to 5% for food items. Guess I saved some money there, mostly on fuel and food. Many shops didn't pass on the lowered VAT to the consumers, of course. Whoresons.

Free college, free healthcare, free life.

You should be happy they didn't pass the lowered VAT on to you. It allows them to stay in business and you pay more taxes for more benefits. The European dream.

I think there are German states where college isn't free, but I'm not 100% sure about that. In my state it is free, yeah. The healthcare is only really free when you are unenployed; then, the government covers the costs for you. When you are employed, you pay 50% (IIRC) of your healthcare bill, which gets deducted from your salary every month. Your employer pays the other half. I think I pay like €150 every month. However, doesn't matter if YOU pay for it or the government pays for it; your wife/husband and children get free coverage from that, in what is called "family insurance". If both partners work, then both pay for insurance, though. Free life, well, we do have a lot of restrictive laws I disagree with. For example, washing my car in my garage or in front of my house? Huge fine. Camping in nature? Forbidden. Lighting a campfire in nature? Forbidden. Driving off road in a Jeep? Forbidden. There are a lot of these laws that restrict your freedom in one way or another. Sure, many of them do make sense; they are there for the purpose of protecting the environment etc., so I do understand it.

Most companies did pass on the lowered VAT, some didn't at all, their main argument was that changing the prices in their management software and on their labels was too expensive, and some companies used that money to pay out bonuses for their employees, which I do see as a noble thing.

In the end, I'm not complaining. I know I have it good here.

No. Apparently there’s some fuck up with TurboTax and similar services. Money either gets punted back for a check or I’ll have to get it as a tax credit.

I’m glad I don’t rely on the fucking government to get me a tiny $600 to pay rent or buy food.

The "some fuck up with TurboTax" was millions of payments going to the wrong accounts, according to the email from TurboTax lol

Free college, free healthcare, large income tax.

Here in France we got nothing, no delay of payment of any kind. In September I got an extra tax bill to pay - 3000 EUR plus yearly household tax and TV tax - 800 EUR in total.
The way government made it is subsidies went to companies to keep you home and guard your job - now that they ran out you will see companies massively firing people since they do not have 'free' government money anymore - yesterday Michelin announced 2600 posts being eliminated, you bet most of those people were not working since March 2020.

I did thanks to my income being cut in half 👍

Still hoping they set aside some funds for bombing China, 30 or 40 MOAB. Warn them then destroy their infrastructure . That’s the stimulus.

Here in Germany they want to put a special tax on online orders now... Like, that one thing you are forced to use because you can't go to stores.

First time I heard that... Insanity.
It's not decided yet, but I think that now that they opened that can of worms, it's going to happen.

https://www.zeit.de/wirtschaft/2020...-online-handel-steuer-einzelhandel-hilfspaket

Like, their argument ist that they want to use this to subsidize the infrastructure needed to move all those packages. And here I thought, the money DHL/UPS/DPD etc. charge for transporting them, which has nearly doubled over the last ten years, should take care of that...

It's hilarious how (mostly) old people are fighting for the past that is never coming back - now that so many people discovered online shopping for the first time there is no way they will go back to queueing in front of a physical store, Covid or not. This is how my life looks like with 2 kids:

1. Everything I need - Amazon, got Prime so it's max 2 days delivery. I sometimes use other services but the customer care doesn't simply match half of Amazon's
2. Groceries - online, the guy will carry them up the stairs
3. Frozen food - online
4. Everything else - online

I do not understand why people are ok wasting hours of their time to go to a physical store. Even in case of clothes - just order different sizes, try them, and send most of them back (for free as well). This is what all the online stores are advertising anyway.

I live in a town 20 minutes away from the city, so no buying food and groceries online for me. If I could, I'd love to buy that stuff over the web. I hate doing grocery shopping xD

I did it for a while, and I still remember carrying two large bags of groceries back home, even if it was only 10-15 minutes from the store to my apartment. Can you try and use Amazon Pantry for your grocery shopping?

Greedy cunts should take that from the Gewerbesteuer (business tax) and redistribute it. Not gonna complain about taxing in general but another one? Nope.

Turbotax sent me an email this morning:

Dear Valued TurboTax Customer,

The IRS recently began issuing a second round of stimulus payments to those eligible. Unfortunately, because of an IRS error, millions of payments were sent to the wrong accounts and some may not have received their stimulus payment.

We have been working tirelessly on a solution with the Treasury and the IRS. As a result, our expectation now is that within days the error will be corrected and stimulus payments will begin being deposited into the correct bank accounts. We have also re-confirmed with the IRS that they have all of the correct banking information.

We know how important these funds are for so many Americans and that everyone is anxious to get their money, now more than ever. We will keep you updated on our efforts, and we will stay on this until you get your money.

Respectfully,
Greg Johnson

Yeah, I got that TurboTax email too. They very kindly let you know that the IRS fucked up and sent payments to the wrong accounts and now they have to sit there and sort the mess for them.

Well if it happened there, there is a big chance it also happened here. Because you know, we are in some form of 4th Reich...

You think we are a joke huh? Especially after what happened yesterday.. Don't blame you if you do.

No, but I work a real job so I am not eligible. I did however pay so everyone else can get a PS5 and soon another 1400 lol.

Still shocked that 99% of you guys make under 75k or 150k for families.

Here in Germany, you need to be a doctor, lawyer, second level education teacher, or manager to earn that much. In my IT job, in my first year, I made €2200/month, or €1800 after taxes and bills. All the guys that finished their education with me and stayed with the companies where they had their training started with between that and €2500 before taxes, maximum. It's a joke. Yeah, I could move to Frankfurt which is an hour away and probably make double the money, but I'd have to live in a rented flat again and deal with Frankfurt traffic, fuck that. I'm also not commuting an hour to Frankfurt. Did that for a year in another job and the work/life balance just didn't work out at all.

I finally got mine, even though IRS said it was mailed Jan 8. And it was given as debit card even though I got a paper check last time.

So just letting people know. If you get this in the mail Don't throw this away.
