Am I reading this right? So PS4 online matches are randoms only, while vita is friends only? Someone help me understand this.

You can only battle friends ad-hoc, unfortunately. I was hoping they'd change that.

No online friendlies and randoms? Why is Namco Bandai trying to crush any chance of this game having a competitive scene, let alone decent online experience, before its even released?
Will the PS4 have both these things?

PS4 doesn't do ad-hoc multiplayer with other PS4s I believe... but I'm not sure. That's probably why it only does randoms. Vita has both.
PS4 will have ranked online matches with randoms.
Online battles were crazy unbalanced for the Japanese version. I don't know if that will get better.
The hardest trophies would probably be: collecting all the Digimon Medals, winning the Master Cup, digivolving 30 Digimon to Mega, and having 30 victories in online matches.
I would recommend just looking up the gameplay for either this game or Dawn/Dusk.
I couldn't imagine trying to play a Digimon Story competitively lol.

it's off topic. i was only asking because i know persona is a subseries of another bigger rpg series, i was asking if he was referring to that or just persona.

You can only play with friends locally on Vita. Since PS4 lacks the capability to do that, you can't battle friends on it.
And sorry, missed your reply. I meant "pretty much" as in Cyber Sleuth is similar to SMT is similar to Persona. I would say it's closer to mainline SMT, but I've seen others say it's more Persona-ish.
Really, it's its own thing, but if I have to compare it, it's more SMT than Pokemon.

i see. i never played any of them anyway, and persona 5 will be my entry to the franchise.
eh. i guess i'm not gonna think about it too much coz i'm probably gonna be the only one out of all my friends who's gonna buy this. which is fine. i'm mainly gonna play it for the story

Yeah, while I wish you could have online matches with friends, this game's selling points are in the main game. Online feels like sort of an afterthought where everyone uses UlforceVeedramon.
They did say they were rebalancing things though, so it might be better now.

Man, is it crazy for me to say I'm more hyped for this game now than I am for uncharted 4? Probably because this is right around the corner

His support skill makes the entire party go first at the start of battle. This gives a significant advantage.

I don't doubt it my man but I'm too lazy to go back and play old classics like that. Hell I never played ffs7 or Zelda ocarina of time, either. And I think those two are hailed back and forth as the greatest of all time - along with the more recent tlou, which I did play.

The gameplay trailer having generic battle music was weird. I didn't even realize the trailers haven't used the main theme yet.

I want to say Australia will be getting it digitally on Feb 5th, since it was officially classified in October, but I'm not sure how that works.
I can't decide. I managed to lower it down to the below list, but who knows how that will change once I see the Digimon in game.

Physical release in Asia, with English text, and digital release everywhere else. Curious when the Asia physical is supposed to be coming out mind, cuz that is the one I want personally.
The one digimon that I want to constantly have in my party is the Tiger Vespamon evolution line. I consider its evolution line the best in term of design.
I'll use the other party spots for other digimons and decide later. I'm leaning UlforceVdramon though completely because of its design.

Some countries are getting Ps4 retail releases, check Amazon if they have the retail version up for preorder.

I gotta have impmon(I pretty much only preorder for the beelzemon dlc), guilmon(aka best digimon) and Leomon(to bad he will somehow end up being permakilled somehow).
If you can't tell, I might be something of a fan of season 3...

Having never played a Digimon game before and only really ever having a passing interest in the TV show ( was always a Pokémon fan) I am really interested in this game. I am a bit weary though that having basically no knowledge of Digimon will hinder my experience?
