Not a tech guy, is the Scorpio gonna run multiplatform games better than my PC?

Probably not.

"More to Scorpio than just numbers" wonder what he means?
Yeah, they did comparisons, here's again what they wrote:
Straight Xbox One port, + 4k Resolution, and 4k art assets.
Well, according to one financial analyst who covers Sony, PS5 will launch in the second half of 2018 with performance of at least 10 teraflops.

There'll be all the specs you'll need in this piece, but the reason Microsoft flew us out to talk to those involved was straightforward: the numbers, as impressive as they are, don't fully represent what the final product aims to deliver. Nor can the number of compute units and teraflops represent the passion the Xbox team has injected into this project. Microsoft has a point to prove. It's not just about performance, it's about pushing the quality of console design to a new level - in all areas
Probably not.

So, how much more powerful is this than the Pro when all is said and done?
The best case scenario for Microsoft is that its CPU and GPU hardware customisation - derived directly from granular analysis of existing game engines - will produce a gulf in results even wider than those seen frequently seen in Xbox One/PS4 cross-platform releases.

Anyone else notice how much DF is parrotting MS PR talking points with their article? Like this gem right at the beginning of their coverage:

Explain the Forza 6 test then
(I'm half joking...one woudn't think so normally)

Why is it needed? The mass market will consist of players who own either the PS4 Slim or the XBox S. Scorpio and Pro will sell a lot less. I'm a bit confused why both console makers even went to all this trouble. Maybe it helps them develop a console for the next generation or something, I don't know. As long as we are sticking to the same games as the baseline model, seems like overkill to me. Great for the enthusiasts of course, but just thinking are the costs really worth it.
Well it was Richard after all. If it was John, who does all the comparison pieces, it would have felt completely different I think.Anyone else notice how much DF is parrotting MS PR talking points with their article? Like this gem right at the beginning of their coverage:

What setting did they use for the 1070 to make it match the Xbox One settings at 4k resolution, does it have 4k art assets too? Things have to be even for a benchmark. Is there a Xbox One mode for the PC port? Ok he seems done with the Forza talk, I didn't see his PC settings. They did say similar.
Faster CPU with many revisions to reduce overhead/latency greatly
6TF gpu with many upgrades
12GB of ram used for 4k assets, higher poly models, etc
326GB/s bandwidth for handling art assets
The gap is larger than what is seen between X1/ps4

I mean what do you want them to do? Anyone who gets the exclusive reveal on something like this has to go through their talking points and have all of their commentary approved first. Otherwise, what incentive does MS have to help DF out? You know the amount of views something like this will bring.
So is this thing more balanced now?

Nah, not necessary.Well, for a start, they could put a "SPONSORED ADVERTISEMENT" notice right at the top of the article.

I think he is referring to all the customizations in the GPU, CPU, etc. to remove latencies and bottlenecks. In other words, perform better per TF, Clock cycle, etc. than the previous Xbox.
Any chances of clock speed increase before it hits stores? Seems a bit early to already lock down clock speeds so far in advance.
Joe Normalman seal of approval sold it for me.Truly a high class working mans console.
We don''t write much if any asm anymore. But we still hard code for core count, cache configuration, stuff like that. Zen could have been a four core configuration, so magical shit would have to happen to make that look like 8, and that stuff is never exact. What do you mean you write to the CPU? Are you writing assembly? Does the CPU support instructions that modern x86 CPUs don't support? I'm genuinely curious because information is not widely available.
That's not a given. Older, less used, instructions can be moved off to microcode, where they run slower. Even subtle stuff. Fix a bug in the FPU and decay curves might not finish in the same time, or at all.If a new more powerful CPU came out that supported the same instruction set, in what cases would it not work? Assume that every instruction runs faster on the new architecture.
That happens.I could imagine a case where you're not using any sort of semaphore mechanism and you rely on parallel instructions A and B to finish in a certain order?
$599-699 max. Xbone started at $499 and moved plenty numbers in their eyes I'm sure. Especially since this is just a 'enthusiast premium console'

And to think that Scalebound could've taken advantage of all that power.
A single game isn't representative. Forza 6 is known to have some problems on PC.
So of course there might be the odd one out, but generally his PC should perform a little better.
Sure, but would it have run well enough on the OG Xbox One?And to think that Scalebound could've taken advantage of all that power.
Not a chance.
ppl could have said the same thing for a 1.3tf console in 2013 at $500Zero chance this thing gets to $600. The PS3 killed that price point for consoles for at least a little while longer.
