Ah Scalebound, the game everyone said looked like garbage until it got cancelled, then once it got cancelled it all of a sudden became xbox's only hope apparently, LOL SMH.
Is game logic that big of an issue in modern games? Besides, it's not like games can't have simple CPU-driven improvements for Scorpio specifically. Things like denser NPC crowds or more sophisticated physics effects that are exclusive to Scorpio are far from impossible.
And a sprinkle of Microsoft PR.good beef/chicken stock

This 1000x.
It's gets tiring reading the same boring posts about scalebound. The game looked shit, and the appraisal was pretty much unanimous.
The good thing is developers are free to choose where to apply the grunt of the console, as 4K native isn't mandatory. So If a game struggles to hit 60fps and 4K native and the developers prefer 60fps, they can target that if they want.
The likes of Forza will be a great showcase for 4K native and 60fps though I'm sure!

Based on previous trends, I think the number of developers targeting 60 fps will remain minimal.
That's a damn shame.
It was voted the most anticipated XBO exclusive by GAF.
This isn't a platform aimed at casual gamers though.
At least first party games will target 60.
All 3 of them coming out over the next 6 years.
*trollface*
Ultra settings on Scorpio and 1070 for that comparison. They said 1070 still dropped a few frames at that level.

I need to see receipts. No revisionism here.It was voted the most anticipated XBO exclusive by GAF.
Well, according to one financial analyst who covers Sony, PS5 will launch in the second half of 2018 with performance of at least 10 teraflops.

Anyone else notice how much DF is parrotting MS PR talking points with their article? Like this gem right at the beginning of their coverage:
Bloody hell
There is no ultra settings for Xbox One. They said the xbox was running normal Xbox One version with 4k Resolution, and 4k art assets.
In fact, the team can push ForzaTech to the equivalent of PC's ultra-level settings and we're still sitting at 88 per cent GPU utilisation;
I don't have a 4K TV and I doubt I'm going to get one any time soon. Why should I care?
Microsoft has made a commitment that (unlike PS4 Pro) all improved Scorpio modes for games must be available regardless of the display that's connected. So even with a regular 1080p TV, you'll be able to choose between performance modes that make the game run better, or resolution modes that will then "supersample" the 4K image down to your 1080p display, which should give you superb image quality - basically, a fantastically smooth and pretty picture. It's like having the ultimate anti-aliasing solution.
that's if you expect multiplatform game companies to be bothered. They're still gonna be targeting a title that is going to be acrosss multiple platforms as that's where the install base currently is.
Scorpio will need to show games. Exclusives that are actually hype worthy. Otherwise, the bells and whistles won't do much - I wonder what their VR policy is now with the box.
The fact that specs are the first things being released about this thing tells me the audience they are going for. I don't get that decision though. Why on earth would this cause a large shift in the network of gaming users? Incremental changes to hardware power in the middle of a generation are unlikely to cause consumers to shift their tastes.
Quite frankly, I'm baffled by Scorpio's strategy. Specs first? No branding / name? Competing against its own console (Xbox One) and Playstation 4 in mindshare? Muddling the mixture of purchase intent for consumers, and asking them to take on so many devices at once. It all feels weak to me.
I guess we'll know at E3.
It was voted the most anticipated XBO exclusive by GAF.
It was still a Kamiya directed game.
If it had come out, it would've been good.
He wouldn't allow otherwise.
This is dope:

The thing is DF has not explained very well why the GPU is so good to have so much free resources. Or is that this concrete game is not taxing gpus very much?.The article later said
That would have been a momentous task going by what was shown Imo.

The cool part about this is that it will probably lead to the ps4pro getting the same options as well. This is dope:

Read the article again. They didn't run on Xbox one. They ran it on Scorpio with the equivalent settings to ultra on PC. That bumped GPU utilization to near 90%.

Wasn't it Gaf's most anticipated game on XB1?
No it wasn't. Just look at the E3 2016 Scalbound thread, general GAF consensus was it was bad
So basically all displays get the same options. I wish Sony had done the same with the Pro.
Lucky for you we have this amazing event called E3 where a majority of developers announce new games. Bonus is the Scropio ain't coming until Christmas holidays so even more time for announcements! This things gonna play all those Xbox one games like butter. Can't wait to spend 400+ for that.
(Give me new hardware when you plan on giving me new games)
We don''t write much if any asm anymore. But we still hard code for core count, cache configuration, stuff like that. Zen could have been a four core configuration, so magical shit would have to happen to make that look like 8, and that stuff is never exact.
That's not a given. Older, less used, instructions can be moved off to microcode, where they run slower. Even subtle stuff. Fix a bug in the FPU and decay curves might not finish in the same time, or at all.
That happens.
Same. This Xbox is really exciting but I'm so invested in the PlayStation ecosystem this gen. If I hadn't just gotten a Pro then I'd be all over this. Curious to see the price point. Seems like they want to get as much positive press before announcing it because it'll probably be a little hard to swallow but then again it's a premium product. Or they haven't gotten the final design and costs figured out just yet and that's why we haven't seen the system itself. So basically all displays get the same options. I wish Sony had done the same with the Pro.
