Dirt 3 |OT| "If in doubt, flat out"

Ah, so better than mine then. With some tweaking I should be able to get the same, I guess! Unless ATI have shitty Crossfire profiles for it.

In game benchmark. Everything maxed, 8x MSAA.

Specs:-

i7 920 @ 4.2
2x460 SLI
6GB

SLI does not seem to work while in cockpit view but all other views works fine :(

Played online tonight now that you guys have the game and the online is populated! so much better then dirt 2 in all ways, you get a separate xp bar like in dirt 2 for online stuff but this time as you level up your online rank you unlock rare bonus car skins and extras, I have a red "TRAINING SCHOOL" looking paint job unlocked for the escort lol.

I already had Dirt 2 but because it was from D2D, it automatically added it to Steam. So now I have two copies, none of which I can gift :(

Really disappointed in the performance I'm getting.

i7 920 @ 2.6ghz
6gb DDR
GTX570

Only managing 30fps maxxed :/

Edit: Realised nVidia manager was overriding 3D application, let 3D application decide and pulled 58fps.

Which setting was ruining your framerate?

No idea to be quite honest. I just took a glance at the fact I had 3D override on and turned it off. Didn't play around with it enough to go that deep into it.

But run a few tests now and have been getting 58fps average at least since I let the software take control.

Really want to overclock my Bloomfield i7 920 but I have absolutely no idea about overclocking.

V Sync was on and limiting you to 30 FPS I'm guessing.

Overclocking is easy, just set the multiplier in the BIOS and go. If you can't do that, you may have to mess with BCLK.

Every codemasters racing game since they started asking has had Tyler in the audio files, rage, seriously "Si" is a fucking audio name.

Everything I've been reading mentions ram timing etc. I only have a stock fan and the case fans so I don't want to go stupid but I wouldn't mind getting maybe 3.3-3.5ghz out of it. Doable with out fucking about too much?

All guides seem to be going for massive clocks or mention changing many of the i7's features....

Shortly after the release of Dirt 3 of 24 May, should the first DLC pack for paid download to be available. The "Monte Carlo Track Pack" contains eight running stages around the Rally Monte Carlo. The new tracks are both single player and multiplayer mode are available. In addition to these "Track Packs" Codemasters also plans to "Car-packs," is to include the new vehicles.

The first "car-pack" will receive the Pre racing game as a bonus, which traders participate in the action is not yet clear. The so-called " super-team pack "includes four additional racing events and four new racing team, consisting of a total of 14 vehicles.

Strange, game running smooth as silk but I'm getting some strange artifacts sometimes, mainly in replays.

Temps are ok for my GTX 580 and I've been playing TW2 for the past 4 days without a single problem.

Here's hoping is just a game issue.

Managed to run a benchmark (remotely) from work using LogMeIn. Oh lol.

Anyway:
Q9550@3.4GHz
4GB DDR2
2x 5850s @ 830MHz

Ultra, 4x MSAA, V-sync off and 1920x1080, getting avg. 55fps, lowest is 45. I'm hoping that a new (inevitable) ATI Crossfire profile should see me get a flat 60 (microstutter notwithstanding).

Quoting myself to warn everyone that could face this.

Looks like it isn't my videocard but actually the stupid "camera effects" that plagued DiRT 2, the only difference being that at this time, it really seems like something is frying in your PC. Was able to conclude this by checking a replay and the "effect" happens at the same spot, even in slow motion, in a place where I crashed. But it looks so bad that Codies should take it out completely.

Everything else is pure gold. Amazing game.

Game is fantastic.

Where is the VIP code for the steam version located?

Edit: Or is the VIP just the cd key? VIP cars are still locked though.

what view to you guys use? I generally use cockpit but the FOV is to small for me in this game.
hood.

performance wise the game runs even better than dirt2.

the game is definitely more challenging (pad with no assists), however I really like it.

Alright, this is really strange...

If I launch the game as normal and sign in to GFWL, I average about 45 FPS in the first race hood cam with maxed settings (minus antialiasing).

If I sign into GFWL in offline mode (I use my firewall to block the GFWL login), the average framerate in the same race jumps to 55-60 FPS.

I tested this without vsync or triple buffering and it's reproducible on my computer. WTF.

After spending a while tweaking settings, I didn't have much time to race, but first impressions are really good. At least using a wheel, at the hardest difficulty and with no assists, the game feels surprisingly sim-like - there's quite a natural challenge there. The first couple areas, Finland and rainy-Michigan have a much more Dirt 1 feel, but with much better handling and graphics. I'm excited to dig into the game more over the next week (3 day weekend!) and see if the good first impressions hold up.

The only real negative so far is the return of annoying voice-overs. Is there a way to turn them off that I'm missing (I saw where you could turn them to 50%, but I want OFF)? The early rally stages do feel too short too, I guess, but I assume those are going to increase in length a bit as the game progresses...

OMG, I can't stress this enough, graphics are absolutely incredible.

From the better textures, better post processing effects and use of motion blur to the awesome car models and the absence of the piss filter in some stages...

Screenshots don't really, really do this game justice.

Just ran a few introductory races. Game is fucking fantastic.

4GB RAM
4890 gpu

Runs flawlessly @ 1920x1080 with vsync on and such. Graphically so impressive.

The physics feel much better. The cars feel far more planted and feel like they follow ruts or road imperfections more than just floating over them.

Still miss Dirt 1's selection of tracks, I still feel it has the best track selection and felt more like proper rally tracks, can't put my finger on it but this one still feels better than Dirt 2 as far as tracks go but still not quite at the level of Dirt where they had more rally focus.

Also, fuck gymkhana.

Just went out to buy it, absolutely loving it. Taking some getting used to, it's a lot different to DiRT2, but I do love it.

Can't wait to play more, but for now I have to go to work :(

Game looks, sounds, and play amazing. Running all details on High, 1920x1080, 4X AA, and getting 60fps.

CTF Gymkhana is actually hilariously fun.

Straight up rally'ing with a buddy brought back some serious RSC2 vibes, minus the staggered starts.

I'll definitely be playing this for a while. Great job Codemasters. This looks and feels like what I would expect from a "next gen" rally game. Can't wait to sink my teeth into the career mode.

OMFG HOLY MOTHER OF MARY IN HEAVEN I CANT BELIEVE IT WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AAAAHHH
Alright I'm fucking done with this thread. My birthday is in two weeks and my GF insisted I don't play the game until then, which I've already promised I wouldn't. Reading these impressions is NOT making the wait any easier.

I'll see you guys on June 5th :)
