Come on Codemasters, if you want us to support your DLC at least integrate it properly into your game. Please patch this into the console versions.

Modders have been consistantly outdoing Codemasters at every turn, even with the most simple options: custom rally championships, any car on any track, and weather on any track... It's a real shame, as good as the game is Codies just doesn't put the effort in to the details any more.

EDIT: 2:59.126 (no roll-overs)
don't really see how the time could be improved all that much (1-2 sec seems doable) unless i bite the bullet and pull out my wheel and switch to manual.

sadly, i am. i don't in general racing games (forza, gt, shift, etc), but rally is so hectic, i usually don't bother with a manual transmission unless i'm really pushing a time trials time - so maybe i'll use it for the kenya and norway stages to try and take my #1 back from Ballistik.



new monte carlo time, 2:57.517
been having issues with my internet connection and just lost it in the middle of this latest run. would really like to see what place i'd be on the leaderboards with this run too.

(i'll take a pic if anyone wants verification - but i think i can get a better time still anyways)

EDIT: XBL connected, 2:57.534 - not quite better then my top, but i'm 8th on the leaderboard

Same over here. I use manual on every other racing game but I just can't handle it on rally games. Too hectic for me.

I would like to join the time trial stuff if you guys don't mind. Let me see what time I can pull.

Automatic in dirt doesn't feel like it's punishing you at corners like forza or GT does, so I use auto also to concentrate on other things like drifting and not crashing.

it (manual) definitely allows you to have faster times, just watch how the WR ghost takes off from the start or out of major corners!

absolutely. the more the merrier! its not so much a competitive thing, but a way to really dig deep into stages and pushing yourself to the limit. time trials are where i get the majority of my enjoyment from racers and its nice to have others to keep you pushing yourself to improve

its all about pushing hard and almost constantly restarting :p

dunno what setups you guys are using, but i'd recommend shortening the gear ratio 1, lowering the ride height all the way, and tightening the suspension all the way

That's pretty much what I am using. And yeah restart is my friend, I'll always hit something that will punish me too much, although all the practice in kenya and norway came in handy when I won those races in hardcore multiplayer lol

Alright took me a couple tries to get a clean run (well sort of, fucked up once) on the Monte Carlo track.

My time:

Col St Roch - Lancia Delta S4
2:58:716

All assists off. I'm positive I can get a high 2:57 but that mid 2:57 run is pretty damn good ivy.

Me too. I think I will take that one for a spin and see what I can do. Will also take a try at those other two trials.

Damn. Best I could do with the Audi was a 2:55:911. So I took the Lancia Delta for another spin. I'm still tweaking the setup (give me more advanced options Codemasters!) but I feel like I can take down that nr.1 time. I was ahead of his ghost several times just fucked up at that tricky corner combination with the hay rolls.

Ballistik what setup are you using for the norway track? I can get ahead of you but at the end your ghost always passes me. I think my gear ratio is set too short so I don't get that much speed.

Lima, I honestly have them all set on default for the car.


Edit: Yeah.. I'm probably not beating it. The Lancia Delta is the car for this track.

Two cars out of that car pack are definitively amongst the best cars out their respective classes. The BMW M3 Rally absolutely destroys every car in the 80's class.

You can beat the Lancia on most tracks with the Audi though.

Best I have right now is a 1:13:499 with the MG Metro 64 on the Finland track. Will improve this later, need to get some sleep. Actually like a shorter track ha. It's not that easy to fuck up.

thanks for the tips. i need them.

crazy that so many of you are using Automatic. im surprised. i think ill stick with Manual because auto just doesnt feel right. im too used to driving stick.

i havent had any time or energy to devote to TT's on the last week or so, but i will be back with some updated times soon. im going to get Monte Carlo soon too.

yikes im rusty. changing the settings up are throwing me off a bit too, but i can see where this will help with drifting less and being able to accelerate quicker.

damn Monte Carlo is 10 buck just for the track huh? kind of steep. i want it though.

are there any other stray DLC cars besides the MKII and the gymkhana Mini? the rest are in packs right? like that Lancia you guys are using is from Power and Glory pack?

its annoying the way they split up the DLC in the buy screen. confusing.

You can buy the cars in the pack or you can buy them separately if you don't want all of them.

Does anyone know when the mud car pack is coming out?

Jup those two are not included in the pack. The MKII is a pretty good car. And it is for charity so I bought it.

got a new Mwatate time, but its a few hundreths off of Sneaky's time, so im not going to post it until i can hopefully shave a few off.

its taking me an hour just to shake off the rust here.

updated all the times (i think) but havent added the new stage. i'll probably be taken a break for a while so someone else should update the times list going foward.

The 360 version of this should hopefully be waiting on my doormat at home. Reading this thread has got my gaming juices in full flow, but I've got a badly crippled neck at the moment so the GT2 might have to be replaced by the gamepad for a little while. Bah!

Sweet baby Jesus I have finally been approved.

Isn't the Mud and Guts Pack supposed to hit today? With the Peugeot 205T16 and the Stratos, the game will have almost all the great rally cars.

I really wish there was an option to use the classic liveries. The Delta S4 just doesn't look right in anything but the Martini Racing livery.
