Dirt 3 |OT| "If in doubt, flat out"

Well I can't defend them if the car models are already there, that kind of sucks. Makes you wonder what you're actually downloading then, since an unlock key would only be 108kb.

For the cars you download the more detailed player models and interior, might be other things too but the medium /low cars are in already so others can race you online without the dlc packs, but I dislike the dlc coming so fast and with the stock stuff in the game already, hate it.

The Monte Carlo DLC seems to includes a new Foggy weather option.

Sorry if asked before...But is this foggy weather option available for all tracks...or only for MC?

Only MC, I know because that question has been asked on the official forum. Might be possible on the PC if someone makes a mod.

its actually 10 for monte carlo alone. the car pack is additional =)

and there are a fair number of us doing time trials, why dont you fire up the pc version for that?

Yeah, I probably will. I have a wheel coming today, so I will try it out with that. When you guys started those I tried the Kenya one and ended up over 1.5 seconds behind you guys and gave up, lol. Hope a wheel helps me a little compared to a 360 controller.

I hope one of them you guys pick includes the Group B cars, I love those especially the Audi Quattro.

Thanks...in that case I'll wait for a pricedrop. 800 points is too much I think =(

i can post more if anyone would like to see the higher elevation, narrow cliffside stuff, or icy roads.

Worth buying? How many more tracks are included in Monte Carlo and where are they playable? Just single player and online or new events pop up in the Dirt Tour?

I'm debating on spending the points I have on this or waiting for something else.

Holy crap 800 points... 10€. Half of what I paid for the full game. I seriously want this but 10€... Plus another 10€ for Shibuya...? Jeez. No way...

It makes it a little easier for me that I have no interest in Shibuya or other cars, so this will likely be the only DLC I ever buy for the game.

I only have 800 points and I wanted to spend them on stuff I know it's really worth it. If they're gonna give me 1 track with one variation like in those track layouts posted in previous pages, well they can go rip someone else off. I'm low on money and I'd rather spend the 800 on a Gears Of War 3 map pack or something that I know I'll spend much more time on. I think they'd seriously make more profit by pricing it at 400.

Edit: I don't see the DLC up on the GFWL Marketplace yet.

i'm sure we'll TT a MC stage next... so yeah, i wouldnt pick it up if i were you :p

but seriously, hell yes it was worth buying IMO. $10 is a stupid high amount to charge and i dont think it makes a lot of buisness sense (it WILL turn people away), but i'm such a fan that i think its well worth it still and would buy as many rally dlc stages at that price they'd offer.

plus, monte carlo is awesome.

Afer ending up dissapointed in both Dirt and Dirt2 (for different reasons), i swore never to buy a Dirt game full price anymore. But then came the promises of a more european and rally (or less extreme sport game) orientated experience plus the excellent reviews so i went ahead and bought it anyway.

I've only played a couple of hours (beginning of 2nd season) and the game is a big dissapointment for me. Some points:

+ weather and graphics
+ cars look great
+ driving feels nice when rally
+ good looking menus

- the "filtered" look and non-realistic color palette. For some reason, i'm fed up with it.
- game desperately hangs on to the extreeeemmme sports atmosphere while trying to please those who aren't a fan of it. In the end, this game ends up having no personality at all. Dirt 2 had personality (not the personality i prefer, but at least it was there).
- codemasters managed to make a menu and user interface that is even more bloated and slow than Dirt 2 (never thought it possible)
- "dude", "amigo", "you should post it on youtube",...
- replays are not nearly as good as in GT5
- slow loading times + camera panning scenes when starting a race takes too long,...
- gymkhana (awful), buggies and trucks
- the campaign feels uninspired and pointless
- the DLC is so obviously cut from the main game that it isn't nice anymore. At least try to hide it a bit better. Also, the DLC advertisements everywhere make this fact even more obvious and annoying. The extra rally stages should have been there from the start in the "more rally focused" games. As it is, the game will probably become more rally focused when you've finished buying all the DLC, amounting in a game with double the price.

By far the biggest dissapointment in the series so far for me. With Dirt 2, i managed to have about 10 hours of fun before it got boring. This one lasted not even 2 hours. Im'd one with the series.

Man, so much back and forth on the new DLC. I bought the previous car back without hesitation, but I just can't pull the trigger on this one. I want to race those Monte Carlo tracks so bad, but $10 is a fairly steep asking price.

Okay, somebody convince me its worth $10 because I really want it.

Hell yeah! It's the same thought I have.. I think my account has like 1800 points and it's either going to be the DLC for this game and I'll have to buy more points for the maps, or just save them for the maps.

If it included cars or something, then I could justify the 800. But just a stage? :/

I've been enjoying Dirt 3 quite a bit, but I wont be buying a Codemasters game brand new again. I paid £40 on day of release as I do with any game that I think deserves it and is worth my time, not again Codemasters.

Rant incoming.

I was looking forward to the Monte Carlo location, but not at 800 points. No chance, I'll send the message of bullshit with not buying it. At least until it's on a deal.

Also, putting the game back to 90% is total bullshit !!! WTF is that about.

Seriously, how long do devs have to spout bullshit lies and promises about games and as soon as the game boots up it's all blatent lies. (That's not just Codemasters either).

The 'hey why don't you show all your friends on yootoob' and the pissfilter on this game just takes the piss when we were told it was all toned down or fixed!

Here's looking forward to Grid 2 (pissfilter return) and F1 2011 shit. Wayhey Codemasters.

:( apologies for the rant.

Looks like I'll be picking up Dirt 1 again for the 4th time and I won't be getting rid of it this time.

dirt 3 suffers from the same isseue that burdened dirt 2. after a few (!) hours you have already seen everything in the game. and yes, rally is alsmost as short as in dirt 2 and therefore pointless.

I have some issues with the game like loading times,

other than that and the dudebro put this shit on yootube thing, I have really enjoyed it.

Get the gymkhana out of my career though.

Also it did feel like there was more rallying than the last game.. or maybe the tracks were just better constructed imo..

It's worth $10. It's some of the best tracks in the game. I mean look at this man. Beautiful.

I have no regreats buying the game I love it, but it has a ton of missed potential and annoying dlc plans which rub me the wrong way too much.

Anyone remember Rally Championship 2000? The demo track alone was about 12 to 15 minutes long, if I remember correctly - played that non-stop. Ah, the glorious days of cheap games development..

My biggest gamer dream is to see the return of that series. :( *cry* *cry* *cry*

If the dirt 3 rally stages were twice as long i'd have zero fault with them, 5-6 minute runs seems good to me and it would have made the stages more unique with cutting up sections for tracks, they use the same areas way too often right now.

From the official forums:

Whilst the cars were done before submission because we had to go through licensing for them all, there is no such legal nightmare surrounding the tracks. Monte Carlo was worked on after the main game was finished (submission date not launch date), and was nowhere near ready to go when the game actually hit the store shelves.

Who gives a fuck if they were still working on the track after the game was finished. The problem is, the retail game as released didn't have enough content and what content it had was too short. Charging ten dollars more for content that should have been in the game in the first place is what is wrong.

Where I work we don't sell out customers a 2/3rds of finished product at full price and then later try to get them to buy the rest of what should have been that product at a later date. Of course, we want satisfied and returning customers.

I've pre-ordered on Steam (cuz I do love the previous Codemasters racing games, even Dirt 2) and I agree with jlevel13. I fell disrespected by Codemasters.

Monte Carlo pack is nice and all (track is great) but way too expensive for what it is. I don't do time trials so a couple of new events in Dirt Tour is all I'll really get from it. I was hoping Monte Carlo will get its own section in multiplayer, so I could at least grind from 30 to level 35, but it doesn't.

I'm sorry I've bought it:/

That's too bad. The track looks gorgeous and I almost talked myself into buying it, but alas, I'll wait for a good sale myself.

800pts. is twice what it should cost, based on similar DLC in other games, but the track is AMAZING, and its not like there is somewhere else you can turn for a rally fix.

i'm happy i bought it, even at 800 pts., but yeah - i expect more to jump on when its on sale

You can always host a jam session and just run those tracks.

yeah, i ran into monte carlo A LOT in random jam sessions yesterday.

new time for our monte carlo stage, 3:01.204, using the quattro. the audi doesnt seem quite as fast as the RS200, or to tackle corners as aggressively, but the all-wheel drive sure helps it grab the road coming out of those hairpins!

Oh, right, haven't thought of that. Might just do that, even though I prefer joining sessions (and then suffer when people set the whole gmykhana park in Outbreak mode - it's far more fun in smaller areas, damnit!) rather then hosting them - dunno why.

Enjoying Dirt 3 alot and splashed out the money for the Monte Carlo track pack (360 version).

The tracks are good but why arent they included as a set in the World Rally Tour mode? They cant be serious? We spend the money to race these tracks and they are not part of the World Rally?

I looked online and someone has already patched the PC version to include this.

http://community.codemasters.com/forum/dirt-3-general-discussion-1339/468490-dirt3-mod-monte-carlo-added-world-tour.html

Come on Codemasters, if you want us to support your DLC at least integrate it properly into your game. Please patch this into the console versions.
