yeah, its clear that this was withheld for DLC, but that doesnt mean more locations wont be forthcoming, though, like you, i doubt it. Japan, Australia, and Wales would be nice though :/

I think people have figured out there will be one more piece of track DLC after this, i think a rally cross track in Shibuya or something, but after that i think you're right. We're done. It's a shame. I would buy literally every new rally track they put out.

Wow, I suck. Best I could do was 2:58.775 with the Escort with a 360 pad.

i'll add you to the list. i dunno how you came by that time, but my times have been gotten after literally countless races and restarts. my best advise is to race the track several times at a safe speed to learn it, then race as fast as fucking possible, restarting everytime you F up. my latest time is the result of at least 50+ races and several hours!

i also am saving the replay from my time from the cockpit view and uploading to youtube in 30 sec increments if anyone cares. not sure if youtube has a way to merge them all into one video file, but that would be a nice feature

will do. i'd also recommend the WRX. i flirted with all the cars and found the escort a close second, but all my top runs were with the WRX. also, i'd recommend you change the differential to all the way loose in the snow, and possibly the gear ratio shorter then default (which is my setting for most rally circuits).

oh, and race the kenya stage too!

Uh I don't know how you could do it. I have a video capture device and could record your whole replay if it was possible to see it.

Oh yeah duh! You can download your Youtube videos by going to the video options. All you would need is to use a program that edits and renders video. I have Sony Vegas and I could do it if I had the clips on my hard drive. (Which I could have using Youtube Downloader to take your videos!)

Not sure why but I burned out on Dirt 3 super fast.. played the hell out of Dirt 1 and 2.. got 100% in both games but Dirt 3 just has not pulled me back each day. I think it is because of those stupid events they put in the middle of the career.. I just want to race and rally.. why on earth are we forced to play those really annoying stunt modes.

Really makes me sad as I really enjoy the racing of the game...

Since you mentioned about recording, I went ahead and recorded both of those times. I was too lazy to hook everything up for the capture device and my camera was sitting in front of me... so I just recorded with that. Doesn't look so bad off-screen anyways.

It's funny because prior to launch, Codemasters was always saying they learned a lot from the feedback of DiRT 2 so the main focus for DiRT 3 was rally with longer stages, more locations and no dudebro.

And we got gymkhana as the main focus of the game, the same amount of locations of DiRT 2, short stages and the dudebro is even worse with the unskippable dialogue in the main menu "Aloha super amigo, you're awesome. Why don't you upload the footage to youtube, muchacho?"

I feel exactly the same way...I love both previous games and just couldn't put them down but I just don't feel like that with DiRT 3 - the stunt modes are atrocious and feel totally out of place in a game like this which was advertised as a "back to Rally" sequel - I'm quite early in the game but I'm also disappointed by the lack of environments for Rally and Trailblazer races, IIRC DiRT 2 had more variety and better designed tracks.

Anyway I'll continue playing but as of now (about 3hrs playtime) I'm really disappointed. :(

GREAT times! I dont like how you waited for the end of the weekend though.

working 10 hour shifts, and next weekend being the 4th, i'm not sure i'll get a chance to challenge them. =(

I'm out of my house for the most part on weekends so that's why I barely tried last night.

Yeah sorry to disappoint but I'm more of an arcade racer. Burnout, Need for Speed, Midnight Club, and like Blur are my type of racing games. Just so happens Dirt 3 appeals to me because it's both for people who like hardcore simulators and those who like fast paced arcade racing. At least that's the feel I get and the reason why I enjoy this game so much. Can't get into games like Gran Turismo, PGR, or Forza :/ (even though I've tried)

i used to race rsc and rsc2 quite a bit from 3rd person, and dirt is quite similar in its handling, maybe i'll give it a shot.

ALL of the packs are overpriced. It's ridiculous to see them just holding back content to charge extra for it later. :/

We shoudn't buy it. Dirt 3 has less locations than Dirt 2, less events, and is a shorter game at all compared to Dirt 2. And all that "not americanized races", "way more traditional rally", "much more tracks" and "better physics" promisses were all bullshit. We shold send our message to Codemasters. Do NOT buy any DLC, ppl, plz!

The other side of the coin is buying the rally DLC sends a sign to Codemasters that more rally content is what people want.

just completed my first race - easily the best rally the dirt series has ever seen! very technical and tight track and its a bit longer then the other rally stages from dirt 3 (where most "long" stages have a WR of 2:20-2:30, monte is currently at a fast 2:57)

the best part is the lol's you get from seeing the race official waving the green flag to start the stage whilst standing at the very edge of a MASSIVE cliff! =P

not 100% sure but there is enough to make me believe the content was once planned for launch release, a lot of the menu images and mini map images are already in the game and viewable with tools, all the dlc car models are already in the game but as medium detail models, which are the cars you see drive around with you in the game, a dev on the codemasters forums said that part himself.

The way the game knows what is coming next is also another thing, the game already had the packs coded in along with the menu system dlc adverts and voice, this was all planned months before release for sure.

Also slightly different but annoying, the dlc is now showing up in my single player progress with a BUY NOW icon stuck on it, any events I had 100% gold are now only 90% complete and I need the DLC to 100% the single player again :|

Yeah, Codemasters really dropped the ball on everything they said would be in this game. This is the first game I 'preloaded' on Steam, and first game I've paid a full $45 for in I don't know how many months or years. They said it would have more rally, and a less annoying and long winded menu system. Instead we got Gymkhana forced into the career, somehow less rally than Dirt 2, some of the longest voiceovers in menus that I've ever seen, and a career menu that takes seemingly nearly 6-8 full seconds to back out from a race selection to the triangle selection thing. It's saddening, the actual act of rally racing in this game is very fun but with a small handful of tracks and nearly nobody playing online anymore from GAF on the PC it gives me no incentive to keep playing. Getting burned so hard on this game has put me off buying anything outside of Steam Sales for many more months to come.

Is this DLC really $10 for some car model and 1 track? I'd love to have some more rally courses to make this seem like a full retail release, but I don't care about car models when I'm in the cockpit and sure aren't paying over $5 per DLC track release, assuming it's about the same size as any of the current 4 areas, with 1 real track and 4 'other tracks' which are just the main track cut in sections.

its actually 10 for monte carlo alone. the car pack is additional =)

and there are a fair number of us doing time trials, why dont you fire up the pc version for that?
