Did the first few stages. Love the handling. Graphics are outdated but I'm so happy we finally have a good rally game again that I really can't complain.
this work?
Got a screen:
Same GPU here. Constant 60fps at 1440p (VSR) in Ultra.
This game feels good. Love the "cut the bullshit" approach, a clean UI and just damn good rally stages with more realistic physics, better sound, rain, snow and day/night...
HUDless dashcam with rain is insane, not up to Driveclub level in the windshield effects but feels great.
Would this run decently on a 2500k with a 750ti? And is it enjoyable with a controller?
Yep. Your rig is better than my lowly i3 and 860m, and I run it at 1080p and 59 fps on the high setting. I have't tried AA though. Game controller is also more than adequate.
alt+enter works to put it back to fullscreen but yeah...it's annoying that it does that
I did some extensive research on the subject and I dont know why some penalties were 5 seconds and some were 14 seconds. Didnt seem to be a connection between my hilariously bad visits in the forest and the time penalty.
Oh well, I should stay on the road in the future...
Is it colliding with spectators? I haven't played it but it looked like they got a big penalty for that in the eurogamer video.
Quick question. How does the handling compare to other Dirt games? Loved it in 1, but 3 felt weird to me. Havent played 2 for wath its worth.
Come on folks....
That is a tricky one to answer! It is a lot more unforgiving and probably more comparable to the old Colin McRae games (for their time). Push the car to the limit is a real challenge and being 1 metre off your breaking point will mean you flying off a cliff. The DiRT games would let you easily get away with minor errors like that where as DiRT Rally is punishing but super rewarding.
I played a few races last night and I think it feels great, the FFB could do with a little bit of a boost but the actual handling and pure terror when you are going above 50mph is fantastic. I don't think I have been this focused on a racing game in a long time and immersed enough into the game that I'm holding my breath over bumps/jumps hoping not to go flying off the track. Also I found myself lifting my head higher to try see over certain crests then remembering I'm looking at a 2D screen
It is going to take me some time to really be able to push a car around these routes! But for now I'm still loving it and getting better after each round.
It's very unforgiving if you go off track of screw up, and it's very minimalistic on the frills, I would be 0% superised I this game didn't bother with consoles, honestly I see more bad press and returns and bitching coming from a console base, most people who want to play racers like this have a PC bc that's where games like this thrive nowadays.Hopefully enough of you PC folk buy this so it eventually comes to next gen consoles. Colin Mcrae was part of my childhood. Going well in a sector than falling back but than getting it in the third was thrilling and amazing. Keep up the photos and videos because it looks amazing.
I love headcam but without a working co pilot or indicators headcam is out of the question until that's fixed , way way too much of a handicap without a co driverCome on folks....

Also, how big is this download? I'm new to (modern) PC gaming/steam/downloading anything bigger than a little indie or Nintendo game, so no idea what to expect size-wise for this kind of game.
Watching the video, is there really no terrain deformation?
For a rally game I would think that'd be one of the main arieas that they should have in a game, so the dirt/mud/snow, etc gives way under your tires and the speed and isn't just the same as pavement in terms of it being "solid."
Come on folks....
Id say it's like dark souls level difficulty. If you fall off the track once your reset penalty is going to make it nigh impossible to win. But if you buckle down and don't make mistakes it's all doable. I wouldn't recommend it to people who can't zone in and really be cautious. You're a lot better off coming to a dead stop and fixing yourself then you are falling off the skinny tracks and trashing your vehicle for your whole run. It's very fun but if you're not super into sims you might wanna wait for more content. If you are into them this game is the shitHaha, great
Will probably buy this game, rally is probably my favorite racing game type.
Is it really hard? I will play with a gamepad and I don't want it to be too hardcore, previous CMR games were fine by my standarts.
Me thinking out loud at IRC:
> I wish i had money, would buy DiRT Rally so hard.
*Goes away to add some RAM to a user's laptop*
>Comes back, opens e-mail: "You've received a gift copy of the game DiRT Rally on Steam"
Aw yiss! get hype!
Thanks. I guess I have to play the game itself to get the feel. For me, what I didnt like in Dirt 3 (and in Grid 2) was how the handling felt less loose? compared to say Dirt 1.
Hmm I've only played the slow 1960s cars so I don't have the best experience from proper feedback yet but those don't drift all that much as you can imagine! The steering has been quite tight and fairly responsive the biggest challenge has come with momentum of the car and bumps/chamber throwing it off line.
I bet with the more powerful modern cars they will be a lot more backend happy. The tracks are also a lot more narrower and tight so you are less likely to be hitting corners at 80mph+ for a massive drift like you would of in the Dirt Trailblazers events,
Would love to see ground displacement. That's what I want from a rally game, to cut into the dirt, gravel and mud, bank into corners and just not glide over a stretched out texture.
The game has the potential to be something quite special. The handling is great and the sound design is phenomenal. I quite like the team management and upgrade/tuning capabilities.
I haven't felt this compelled in quite a while. Looking forward to seeing how the game progresses..
Don't forget the Fulvia and such are FF.
Wait, it has a FULVIA?!

Yeah...it's one of the two 1960's cars in the game so far...go back a page and I put up a full car list for the 17 in the game at the moment
The handling is right up there with RBR. Tricky and unforgiving. The only difference is on rbr if you crash, most of the times thats stage over, whereas on dirt rally you can reset.
It would be nice if you could turn on RBR levels of damage to add that extra panic as you are bombing down a stage.
The handling on dirtrally is far far more advanced and better than any previous codies effort. Dirt's handling was arcadey so not a comparison.
It's cheaper if you buy it right now. You'll get all the content updates (of the main game) for free.Add in a Renault 5 Turbo and a Celica GT-Four and I would be buying the parts right now
