Hey all,

Just putting together a blog post on the last week of DiRT and with a bit more info about what we're working on next.

I wanted to highlight a couple of Leagues in it though and I wondered if anybody had set up an official GAF league yet?

I can do it when I get back home from work in a couple of hours. Unless someone else already has set one up or wants to set one up.

I'm thinking a season could run for a week (Sat to Sat). Two stages per day. No restarts. Repairs between each event.

Lee, any more news on the Error 41, I'd love to be in the league, but I still can't play :(

Getting better, got second overall last night in a set. I think it will be a while before I take first. Love the Co Driver in this game. They did a amazing job on his voice and if I focus on what he is saying I do pretty damn well.

Finally bought another car last night, the Stratos but I haven't tried it yet. So happy with this game and it's awesome to know that more and more is on the way.

Mind if I ask what controller/wheel you're using?

Sure! It's the Logitech G27 with H-shifter. I am using the H-shifter with clutch as well. I did change the saturation settings for the clutch to 0.2, if that matters, because it wasn't registering well most of the time.

What the hell, I can't play the game anymore :( My PC was pretty sluggish, so I decided to do a fresh reinstall of Windows 8.1. Now I can't launch Dirt Rally anymore. I click play in Steam, get the "preparing to launch Dirt Rally" popup and then absolutely nothing happens.

When I try to launch the game directly via the drt.exe I get an Application Error: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)". Apparently that has something to do with the Visual C++ Redistributions, so I uninstalled them all, cleaned the registry and installed every redist from 2005-2013 again to no avail :(

Does anyone else have the same problem. Is there any solution? I miss my daily dose of Dirt :(

Count me in for a GAF league! I just set my account up at the Dirt Rally site last night. I won't be winning any leagues but I'll put my best effort in, I mean somebody has to come in last, right? lol

I was kicking ass with the Mini Cooper in Open but now that I'm up to Clubman level with the Ford Escort I'm having to claw my way back up the standings. I started Clubman coming in 6th to 8th place in races, now I got my very first 3rd place finish last night, but still 5th overall for the championship. Definitely improving though.

I'm really enjoying the dailys and weekly's too, gives me a chance to race cars I don't own yet. Usually not racing them gracefully however....

Sounds good to me, count me in.

I've not seen many other fixes one random one someone posted on the Steam forums was to verify the game cache but then cancel it when it hits 3% o_O Apparently that fixed their issue, but their issue may of been an actual corrupt file :p

The only crashes I've seen of the game (other than me driving) is once in a great while the game seems to lock up in the menus for me, and I think it's pretty much always happened in the shakedown / repair menu in between stages. It's only happened to me a couple of times, but when it does I need to close the game via task manager and start it up again. I've never lost any data nor race standings. It's a very infrequent crash though, I might have seen it three or four times since launch?

NeoGAF League

Alright, hit the link above to join the NeoGAF League. We start out with a short season, running from now until 23:59 on Saturday. I assume that's CET, but keep an eye on the timer. A new event opens every day at midnight. Each event has two stages. Between events you'll have chance to fix your car. Don't worry if you can't race every day, once an event becomes available it stays open until Saturday night. The first short season starts in sunny Greece and ends with a long stage in rainy Wales.

Let me know if you want anything changed or want to see a certain car and track combination. Once hill climbs are in the game we can include those as well to add some variation.

It's open to everyone!

PS: No restarts!

So after a good 3 hour slog on Saturday night I went to bed with circa 75K in the bank. I was on my way to purchasing a nice shiny new 70's car on Sunday morn (and maybe another member for the team).

Started back up on Sunday afternoon, and all I had in the credit bank was 15K. Anyone else experienced anything like this? No biggie, I'll just have to race again, and lawdie knows I need the practice ...

75K in 3 hours is impressive, what did you do to earn that much that quick?

Regarding the weird bug you'd had would you mind if we took a look at your save file, would be really useful in tracking the bug down.

Great choice for your first wheel, mine has served me well for 5 years.

Thanks. Currently setting up. Starting with F1 2013 since ETS2 just got a 1 GB patch. I can't wait that long :D

It's way heavier than I anticipated. Let's see :)

The main thing to be mindful of is you may need to set the overall steering lock at 270-400 degrees in the profiler for games like F1 and DiRT, otherwise you'll be turning for weeks before things happen haha. I go for 270 with both of those, but you may want a bit more to decrease the overall sensitivity to your liking.

Simulators like pCARS, Assetto and the like support full 900 degree steering right from the off so it's not a problem.

Congrats on your new wheel, welcome to the club!

My condolences on the lack of sleep you are about to experience in the near future due to you playing all of your driving games like they are brand new and 100% improved.....

I've come in 2nd for the first two parts of the Elite level, using group b cars, weird how I keep getting better as it gets harder, I was like ~6th in the first two championship levels.

There is a WRC driver called Kevin Abbring who drives for Hyundai that got talking to us on Twitter just after launch, the guy has been top of the DiRT Daily a few times this week to a point where some of the other players had been calling him a cheat (lol).

He sent us a video of him nailing yesterday's event and I just uploaded it to the DiRT YouTube account. If anybody needs any tips he's your man.

Always a good sign for a sim if actual drivers 1) find it interesting enough to drive 2) their skill translates to an actual advantage in game! Cool stuff.

WARNING:

Has Alex "I'm a good driver" Navarro at the wheel. Enjoy the flips and rolls. :lol

We tried a test patch at the weekend people could opt into after making some changes Valve suggested and it didn't seem to have solved the issue :(

We've sent all the info back to Valve and are still talking to them regarding it, but some players are having luck by moving around HHD Space (read here)

You'll find the bug tracker for that (and other known issues) right here and I'll keep you all updated once we've heard back from Valve.

I didn't realise the leagues operate similarly to the daily challenges, ffs. Gunned it from the start and rolled not far down the road, went to restart... nope.

See you guys in the next round I guess.

This depends on how it is set up. Restarts are optional! For both stage and whole event.

Is it possible to join the league by the game's menus? I don't know why, but the official Dirt website is not working here since last week. =/

It's a Firefox issue, if that's what you're using. I can't get on it on FF but I can just fine on IE.

Oh, yeah forgot to mention that. Sorry! As Razu said we can change that in the next round. Depends on what you guys want.

I still can't join the league. It keeps giving me this message: This function requires your Codemasters account to be linked to the gaming account that you use to play. Please visit Codemasters Accounts to link your account. But I've already linked my Steam account. o_ô

EDIT: sorry for the double post.

If I have a vote, I'd keep it as cruel as it can get. >:)

sign out of the site and then choose sign in again but this time choose to sign in through Steam instead of your CM account...see if that makes a difference

Seeing as there's no indication in the game, a heads up on here would be good!

I'm easy either way, just had no idea this time haha.

I'd probably vote for no restarts too, even with how bad a racer I am. I've been enjoying the dailys and weekly challenges, and I've truly messed a few of them up good, but I had fun trying my best. It adds a whole new adrenaline factor to the race knowing that this is your "one shot" at it.

After all, Dirt Rally is the Dark Souls of racing games, LOL!

Yeah I vote no restarts. Being uber careful is an aspect of the game which IMO will make it much more fun than vs cpu stat times which always have the same spread. This'll be a million times more interesting

The cool thing about no restarts is that it makes things more even, so it doesn't matter if you have 5 minutes or 5 hours a day to play. It also makes things more unpredictable, becaus the guy in the lead might make a big mistake, so everyone has a shot at the prize until the end. :)

I tried that, but no dice. =/

I'm fine with no restarts...if I screw up badly then I screw up badly (once more events are done with the more powerful cars I know I will have tons of mistakes)

How about adding a limited number of restarts as another option for leagues (instead of just "unlimited" and "none")?

I also prefer no restarts over unlimited ones, but being allowed to do up to 2 restarts might make this even more fun.

Just remember to set the Service Areas! I just messed my next event up and didn't add any!

Might be good though. See if you can make 4 stages without repair. Probably a bit much with no restarts though :D

true. +1 for NO RESTARTS.

edit: love how the Lancia HF struggles slightly while climbing a slight incline, yet practically flies downhill.

edit2: were trading cards just added? got my first one right now.

Haha, I actually forgot that the first time around. Had to do all over again.

Going down that hill was a bit hair-raising!
