Dirt Rally |OT| Don’t Cut, Be Brave

So what's happening with the neogaf Xbox league ? I will do one if the X1 guys would like ?

But it will be restarts on (I like to learn a course, not a race of who can drive slowly anougth not to crash) I would also do a Monday to Friday rally and a Friday to Sunday rally.Whos in, I will set this up this evening.I'll be back with search notes.☺

Stage retry is on,so if you have had enough of crashing press pause, then save and exit and it should let you come back for another try of whatever stage your on.

Career engineers: on

Cars: 2000s, I will change this up now and then.

Tracks and conditions

Flugzeugring morning overcast

Paskuri midday sunny

Naarajarvi afternoon clear

All sprints,and all not to difficult to learn.

This will run till 23.30 on Friday night.

Signed up and just working my way through the stages now :) not a fan of stage/event retries, but I'll allow it this time ;)

That's the whole idea of rallying, it's a total risk / reward sport, you don't need to learn the tracks, that's what the co-driver is for.

But aome People will just look at the track list,learn the track before going to the league, this way is fairer imho.but I will change if enough people want me to. :)

IMO, being able to get to the end of a course and think, nah, that wasn't fast enough, I could go faster, and then restart is worse.

I like the feeling that you've just got one shot at this, and you better make it count.

Anyway, it's your league, you can run it how you want :)

Ill turn restarts off if enough people say so, Just done my first run on flug in the sub 4 seconds off azzawon but i know the track in a different class,eventually people will know tracks more than others and the co driver won't make a difference to them.

Man, the 95' Subaru sucks. A lot of people must feel the same way too because I crashed a bunch and still finished the daily challenge about midway in the top teir.

Yep I hate it as well. I didn't have time to mess with the settings, but I reckon they wouldn't suddenly turn it into a superb rally car.

I haven't driven the car myself, but i found this in the very detailed car comparison guide:
It's like a man's best friend that you can trust and will always do the thing you ask for. The steering feels direct allowing you to point the car exactly where you wanted to. It's a real treat driving this car and only the brakes are underwhelming. Make sure you change the torque bias (front/rear) to 1fR under viscous differential advanced settings as the default value makes the car feel understeery.

From the weekend restarts shall be switched off, i shall post the tracks here (suggestion's are welcome!). For now it is what it is until friday 23.30 GMT, the following one will run from some time on Sat in the am until Sunday 23.00ish, then i'll create one at sometime on Monday to take us to the weekend and so on.

is everybody happy with 3 stages at the weekend and 5 through the week, should i add more ?

I just had to retire from this weeks :(

My computer started wigging out and the framerate tanked, instead of slowing down or pausing I took a flight into a tree in Finland :( RIP

do we get credits for participating in the league or is it just for fun?
squeezed myself into the top20, almost destroyed my car on the 3rd stage, I still don't know how I could manage to liftoff like when I drove cautiously.
had to reset 2x overall.

It makes me happy whenever I see this on the front page.

And damn that night stage at the end of the PS4 event. I was doing pretty decent and lost my headlights about 3/4 of the way through. I lost a good two minutes.

It was my fault though...

I can recommend it to anyone who enjoys a tough racer. I started slow and steady but after some time and
courage
I am drifting through snowy fields with glee.

Something about driving on a 4 foot wide gravel road on the side of a mountain while a frantic British man is shouting commands at you is very unique to Rally, and Dirt does it well.

Its got a steeper learning curve than any of those games but its fantastic. (Although I do wish there were more courses). Its definitely worth your money though.

Been thinking it may be time to get into another racer after a long time just replaying old favorites. And first thing I do for any rally game is check to see if Metro 6R4 and Lancia 037 are in the game, so off to a good start.

So how the fuck are you supposed to control 70s cars on Sweden?

I havent complained about the difficulty once since I bought the game but this genuinely seems totally uncontrollable.

I have the transmission set to the highest gears possible to try and keep the torque off the rear wheels and a loose diff to try and combat the violent oversteer but nothing seems to help.

Yea sorry man, haven't seen you post since you created the league, i thought you had lost interest. Make me a mod on yours as well if you want, i'll be able to update it pretty regular.

Does the career actually have an ending? Also, what happens if you don't promote? Does the game randomly generate new "chapters" within the same skill level until you either promote or demote?

I got promoted to clubman and i'm trying out some of the new cars. The handling feels so different compared to the mini, which seemed like the easiest car to handle. I think i'll go with the Renault 5 turbo for my next career chapter. Though i still have difficulties getting to grips with the extra power :)

No, Elite is the highest, I'd imagine you just play that again once you've beaten it at elite

If you finish bottom 3, you get demoted, if you finish between bottom 3 and top 3, you stay in the same difficulty.

Are the stages randomly generated?, I thought they were fixed, but I could be wrong.
