Of course not, but the majority of recent games have AI with at least the semblance of situational awareness.

One thing that I really don't like after putting in a solid 100 hours now is the upgrade system.
Basically I am at the point in championship where I'm at Master level difficulty and trying out a new car in career mode basically spending the whole "season" cruising along in the middle while putting down miles to unlock the upgrades.
For my feeling the cars improve drastically once you have all the upgrades and a fully upgraded car is really the only way for me to compete at Master difficulty.

Unlocking the perk slots on your engineers is essential to getting your cars upgraded quickly. The percentages simply add up, so with the crew chief and at least 3 engineers at level 1 you can reduce upgrade times by 20%, at level 2 by 60% and at level 3 by 100% (actually 120, which is pointless). Upgrading any car in a single stage is quite convenient.
For reference, my stats for buying and upgrading most cars in a fresh save (before 1.1).

I've been really digging myself into Hillclimb now.
Thing is I don't think I have played the tarmac version before. It's as horrible as people made it out back when it was changed.
Now you can tell the regular old hillclimb cars in this game were made for the gravel version and it is also honestly the first time where I found the default setup to be extremely lacking for all 3 cars.
Anyone that has some tips for the 405 especially? It has massive understeer on the tarmac version.

The Peugeot is way more fun to drive than the Seat, but I feel like it's much easier to lose control while driving it.

Yea me too mate. I did the daily earlier today and I was positioned near the top of the top tier bracket but I couldn't see exactly what position I was. Bit disappointing.

My trick is to push up (to get to the bottom of the list) and then down (to get back to the top) which forces a reload. But they definitely need to fix it.
I once had an option to gone my time on the list but I can't seem to find that now?

Slightly offtopic but i just watched the most amazing WRC rally in years.
Paddon went into the final stage 2,4 sec ahead of Ogier and just blitzed that stage by more than 11 seconds securing the first WRC win for him and for New Zealand.
He was going so fast i almost couldnt look,it was nerve-wracking. We just witnessed a future champion being born.
That rally reminded me off when WRC used to be great.

Yeah, Hayden was flying through the power stage, even with the gear issues; I'm sad for Jari-Matti though, he was almost crying trying to explain what happened, he was so frustrated.
That was my error, sorry!!I've finished the new league event... not happy about my performance on SS1, SS2 was meh, did better on the remaining three. Not allowing to go into the service area after you're done with Greece is just mean. I didn't notice that and had to finish SS4 with Greece setup.
At least you didn't dedicate 80+mins to it and blow up your motor on the 19th Stage!
Might have hit a will at Pikes Peak on Master difficulty. I can manage 2nd or 3rd but the times to win are just too much for me. Especially whenever the asphalt version comes up as the 405 just has terrible amounts of understeer.
At the same time I was also very disappointed running with the 208. If you look at the footage of Sebastion Loeb driving that thing up the hill that car has more grip than a GT race car. In Dirt it's kinda floaty and sliding all over the place.
But damn driving the 405 or Audi up that hill on the old 100% gravel variant is still the best kind of racing action.
At the same time I was also very disappointed running with the 208. If you look at the footage of Sebastion Loeb driving that thing up the hill that car has more grip than a GT race car. In Dirt it's kinda floaty and sliding all over the place.
But damn driving the 405 or Audi up that hill on the old 100% gravel variant is still the best kind of racing action.

Plumped for Group A Escort to tackle Pro level and finished 3rd in first rally in Wales. Happy with that. Love the bounciness of the Escort.
Streamed to Twitch and got a nice comment asking if I was using a wheel (I'm not). Then I crashed ☺️
Also, I'm confused about team ratings. I have:
Crew chief at 88 leadership + 84 skill
Three guys at 85 skill
But my team rating is 62. What gives?

Man the AI times for Pikes Peak are fucked on Master difficulty.
It just happens that today is a Hillclimb daily. My time of 9:10 is good enough for leaderboard place 14 currently on Xbox. Apparently that's not quick enough to beat the AI though. And I mean that is on the mixed surface. I can do a 8:49 on Tarmac and that is not quick enough either for the full Tarmac version. Like come on Codemasters what kind of superhuman AI are we talking here.
You need the fourth engineer to get higher. They all need to come from the highest tier obviously. The team rating is a median of all the values listed. I don't even know if you can get to 100. Highest I've seen is 86.

Finally got back to this today. Between the hyper reactive physics engine, listening to the co-driver calls, and playing without a HUD, this has to be one of the most engaging racing experiences I've played. Like Wipeout or Burnout tier stuff. You have to be super attentive. Usually I throw on a custom soundtrack over whatever racing title I play, but I just can't with this one, not yet anyway. As soon as my mind drifts I start performing noticeably worse. Because of all of this and the track variables, no 2 runs feel the same. There's something beautiful happening in this game.
