Disgaea 2 Scans

I put these scans up for someone so I thought I might as well share. These are from the Feb. issue of Dorimaga.

The article details the new apprentice system that deals with making new characters and assigning them an existing character as his/her master.

New additions to the item world, and new additions to the dark trials.

This issue also has stuff on Ar Tonelico, New Rumble Roses, Seiken Densetsu 4, Valkrie Profile Silmeria, Front Mission 5, Yangus Dungeon, Shin Onimusha, some 360 stuff like Over G and -eNCHANT arM- + other stuff. Just reply if you want to see any of the above.

Thanks for the scans.

This was in Disgaea 1 ... or is there something new added to it?

I'm going to rant about Disgaea 2 now

/start rant

It's really hard to get excited for Disgaea 2 because it just seems like such a big step back in N1 games. I usually get excited about playing the next N1 SRPG because after the crappy La Pucelle they started making awesome games that just kept adding more and more. Phantom Brave added radius movement/attacks + weapons having their own levels, Phantom Kingdom added throwing huge ass buildings and driving around in super tanks and planes(all which gained their own levels). Now here comes Disgaea 2 and it's doing what? It's taking out all the stuff I now love about N1 games and going back to the basics which are honestly going to be boring. Do I play N1 games for awesome maps with great strategy? No. Do I play them for the best stories ever? No. I play them to have insane battles where I'm throwing buildings full of penguins who drive out in cars and leap 50 feet into enemies only to explode themselves. That is what I want in a N1 SRPG.

Oh, so Disgaea 2 has cleaner higher resolution textures that still aren't high-res...so what? Do people really care about the graphics in an N1 SRPG? Give me the shitty genesis low-res sprites of PK and use all that time to make something BIGGER AND BETTER.

While I'm sure Disgaea 2 will be total fun and a great game (as they haven't made a bad game since learning how to program fun with Disgaea), I will only truly accept it and allow it to exist if they give me a Phantom Kingdom 2 afterwards. I want buildings, I want vehicles! Then add stuff even bigger and better. I dunno, add cities, giant humans who eat babies, let me throw PLANETS AT PEOPLE. Just give me bigger and better. That's all I ask for. Kthx.

/end rant.

Nippon really should try making a different kind of game.

...hell, even a different kind of srpg would be nice. Anything except "kawaii tactics srpgs".

It's all starting to blur.

They do; everything from the musical-RPG Rhapsody to the horror game Hayarigami to the business sim SatelliTV, as well as the RTS Rasetsu Alternative. Cutesy SRPGs just happen to sell extremely well in the US right now.

Well they do make other games. Like their dark and dreary text adventure Hayarigami:

...but those don't sell and "kawaii tactics srpgs" do. I mean when Idea Factory can survive on 10-20k sales for their SRPGs, you know that N1 is making a comfortable living on their SRPGS which sell 100-130k

Well, Rasetsu is just a port of a PC game that they didn't make IIRC and Rhapsody was before their started on their SRPG craze.

Wasn't too sure of Rasetsu's derivation; as for Rhapsody, the Marl Kingdom series in general ran until, IIRC, after they started on SRPGs, even though that most recagnizable portion was released before.

I feel quite opposite. I dont care how much they added "innovation" to last two titles they just stunk for me. The setting, the story, the dialogue, NA voices were so bad I could not get into them. They clearly forced these out alot faster compared to their earlier works. Im glad they are going back to something more like La Pucelle, D1 and such. Its good change of pace, cant see why cant do both.
