Dishonored E3 Gameplay Trailer

Not a fan of the animation. I hope this game plays great. Trailers so far don't excite me a fraction of what I've read about it.

You can judge the shadows (or lack of) by looking at it. I'm not saying anything about the resolution...

"the floor" doesn't look flat too.

also self-shadowing with extremely blocking shadows is worse than no self-shadowing. Besides that how can you be sure that there is no self-shadowing in the game?? It's failry cloudy in the screeshot, shadows shouldn't be pronounced.

Not convinced on this at all. Graphically it does not look very good, and gameplay wise it strikes me as being absurdly derivative, like Bioshock, Half-Life 2 and Assassin's Creed thrown into a blender.

Check more videos, its nothing like that.

If there's anything similar to it in terms of gameplay then its probably Hitman/Thief with a mix of the new Deus Ex. Basically you have targets that you need to kill for each mission and you can do that by any number of different ways and taking many different paths. It's a stealth game at heart.

Me neither, but I don't know where exactly you want to have "shadows" there.

The clothes should have wrinkles -> shadows. It's way waaaaaaaay too clean.

And with the floor being too flat I mean that there are no objects like stones that pop out. It's just flat on the ground.

Look at screenshots for that game, it has a specific style - no need for wrinkles and artifical shadows. Also - there are stones.

So it's even more derivative than I had initially thought then. But wait - there's no room left in this blender for Hitman and Deus Ex! A stealth game set in a totalitarian state featuring assassinations, parkour and plasmid-like abilities (why control bees when you can control rats). I mean, every game released nowadays is not wholly original, I realize that. But I just look at Dishonored and find it has precious little identity of its own; every component looks like it's been plucked from some other currently-fashionable franchise. It'll probably be a good game when all is said and done, but for a trailer whose purpose is to generate hype, I really find nothing to get excited about.

It looks fine. I think I know what your problem is - that it is quasi a "flat" and empty area?

It's low-res dirt textures stretched over very little polygons, making it look kind of shoddy compared to the stuff we're used to seeing these days.

I have no fucking clue what's going on in this game. Geoff said something about clearing your name of murder.. so you do that by murdering the fuck out of people. Normally I'm ok with this type of insane shit, this may be a little too much for me.

And there are also ways of disposing of your target without even killing them. The scenario from the previews was awesome. Complete a sidequest in a level and some fine gentlemen will ship your targets to their own mines where they can toil away. So cool.

I guess I am most impressed by this trailer out of the recent ones shown, still a bit worried about gameplay and story.

Gosh, if you think this looks derivative I can only imagine what you think of War Shooter #123 or Revenge-Driven Lab Experiment #235

This game seems interesting, especially as a new IP, and while the style is nice, the trailer seemed pretty rough in terms of assets. Like 2006 level shit.

Hopefully they get that sorted out.

As I was watching the trailer I was thinking about the combination of games this one could be.

Some Bioshock and Condemned vibes came to my mind, don't know why. But I want to see a little bit more of this.

Wow, the number of people on youtube that don't know the song in the trailer is a reworking of "What will we do with the drunken sailor?"...

This game looks great, love the artstyle and everything I've heard about it so far.

What do we do with a drunken sailor, we cut off his ball sack.
^version I learned when I was younger.

I have to say that is the best looking gameplay trailer that I have seen in a very long time.

Rest assured, those kind of games get their fair share of distaste from me too. The latter not so much as the former though.

The art style in the concept art looks fine, but it didn't translate well to the actual game as seen in the trailer.

Looked amazing to me.

Love the atmosphere. Love the art design. Love the Bioshockesque combat (the part where the player bats back some sort of projectile at one of those walker things).

Definitely one of my most anticipated 2012 games.

Look at the details below. The clothing on the woman has no shadow at all . Also the floor is as flat as Justin Bieber's chest.

And to be honest, this was the worst looking sequence in the entire trailer.

Looks interesting, but not sure it's gonna get much attention in a crowded holiday season. Fortunate for them that Bioshock Infinite got pushed out, but AC3 is probably going to eat their lunch.

New IP's are always welcome though, so hopefully the gameplay/story/dialog is strong enough to make it stand out from the crowd.

What I saw of it looks like something from 2007 - 2008 but got trapped in time (if that makes any sense). In other words, it looks like BioShock on the surface world. I'm cautiously optimistic given Bethesda non-Elder Scrolls track record.

What holiday season is in October?

Besides, the release date is a full 3 weeks before Assassin's Creed 3.

Looks like a clusterfuck of WWII, a weird cartoony art style, HL2 and Bioshock with some extra blood and little children sprinkled on top.

As something I felt before and now reassured with the recent gameplay trailer, this will many's Game of the Show this year. (Well this or CD Projekt RED's new cyberpunk title, although it may not be playable, thus disqualifying it).

In addition to gameplay and control, atmosphere is one of the most important characteristics in a game to me and Dishonored looks to bring that in spades. Although comparisons to other titles are unfair when trying to judge a game on its own merits and I hate using them for new IPs, as a hybrid of Half-Life 2, Bioshock Infinite and a little tinge of Machinarium, this is something that I am really excited for and look forward to seeing everyone's impressions from E3.

One benefit will be the first person melee system. These guys made the game with the best ever first person melee and that came out like 6 years ago and still hasn't been topped. The other half of the group is from the Deus Ex games (yes even the one we shall not speak of) which were first person exploration so they also know what they're doing there.
Hey now...

Let's not forget Zeno Clash.
