I wouldn't do it.
Disney properties (star wars and marvel) are much bigger than Sony's ones. You'd be losing something that you know will sell like Disney IPs videogames for something you don't know like the uncharted movie

Loki and Wanda vision were great, the what if stuff is good as well. Shang-chi looks in line with something like ant man, dunno if gonna risk COVID to see it but I’m interested for sure. Externals looks dull but new trailer has promise.

Movies in general gonna have a hard time in the years to come, but yeah I’m extremely excited for more marvel stuff.

Unfortunately the site that was a source for that was calculating it incorrectly, they included stock and some other things that shouldn't have been in there.... so the actual cash on hand is 19 billion but should increase quite a bit over the next year.

I wouldn't worry, Sony has very low debt, they could buy practically anything they need or want.

While the premise is pretty ridiculous.. the people who think Disney or anyone else doesn’t have the money to do it is only kidding themselves. Government opposition is the only reason Sony hasn’t had a take over.

Lol, Ill be watching Eternals :messenger_grinning_sweat: I love the cosmic Marvel comics and such. Yeah they won’t be accurate but the comics have been all over the place since the 2000’s.

I enjoyed Loki and where they are going with the universe so it might get interesting.

Disney might not be the best and I didnt even like the Spiderman’s too much or the last few films but they’ve done well putting it all together compared to Warner, Sony, Fox etc.
I mean who would of thought Id enjoy Ant-man more than X-men or Justice League lol

I hope they do a good Dr Doom movie before they do Fantastic 4

Disney have less cash than Sony and are straddles with 50 billion in longterm debt..... so what money are they going to use?

They really missed having Adam Warlock and Silver Surfer against Thanos too. But I guess they needed to focus on Ironman and Captain America before they die And didnt even have the rights to Silver Surfer back then?

I hope they do a good job of Adam Warlock in the new Guardians of the Galaxy.
Them doing Eternals and stuff like Dr Strange 2 and classic Wanda might mean they’ll put the effort into doing stuff like Galactus, Silver Surfer, Doom properly

Yeah, there is potential for them to get me interested again but for now, I'm just out....

I'm burned out on the Marvel formula and I need a break. I also have no interest in most of the stuff they've put out lately.

I'll probably be back in the next year or two to it though.

Sony can be bought just not by Disney right now. Maybe in 10 to 20 years after they have got their money fixed after the Fox merger. Plus Sony's net worth is around Disney.

Oh so it’s a Disney hate thing not a spider man liking one. I get it now. I give 2 shits about Disney but they sure make good marvel movies, wish Sony could match that but they have proven over and over again they are not up to the task.

Why the hell would they do that?

And Disney buying all of Sony's media assets would make it the largest media monopoly in the world. Something that would be highly undesirable.

I dunno..I liked Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Django and most of their Bond films..... the new Bond film looks shit and Sony isn't involved.
Loads of good films IMO.... 21 & 22 Jump Street. Disney even basically ripped off the new Jumanji films with their Jungle Cruise.

The Magnificent 7 and The Equalizer films are really fun too.

Of course they have some duds but taking chances is a thing that has to be done in film.

Hopeful for Ghostbusters Afterlife.

Wouldn't worry about it...the guy writing the story is highly ignorant. Disney is straddled with 50 billion of debt and has less cash than Sony.

All their parks are in a shit state due to covid.

They would go bankrupt.

I could see Disney looking at the rights to Spiderman or even all of Sony pictures (which IIRC has been rumored to have been available at various points in the past) but trying to buy all of Sony would be a pointless waste of time and money for them.

Disney is in serious financial difficulties. They didn’t have the money for that Fox purchase and are carrying a fair bit of debt, parks business is in trouble, box office is destroying them only bright spot is Disney plus at the moment but that won’t carry the company. I think the purchase of Sony would be prohibitive and I don’t think Sony would sell their movie/music business.

How has no one learned how M&A works?

If you buy something worth 50 Bil for 50 bil, you need to make 0 dollars to make your money back. Cash flow is no issue, the value is there.
