He said coop people! Why aren't you paying attention?

That photo is great. The next big update is coming soon. Year of the cRPG!

Installed the game and wandered around for a bit. It looks absolutely gorgeous, it's just a shame I don't have time to true it out much the next few days.

Does this also mean that the spare key will be coming out so that people that have an extra one can give it out?

I am a bit confused about all the keys. My kickstarter tier had 2 DOS keys, but now I also have an alpha key (which I redeemed on Steam) and two more (still unavailable) keys listed on my LarianVault account for the full game.

Boy, I want this one too. No draught in PC games land. This plus broken age plus Men of War all coming out soon. Wasteland 2 in a little bit of time.

Anyone else having performance issues? It's an alpha so it's to be expected but just want to make sure it's not my computer. Playing on ultra with a GTX670, i53570K. Often locks to 30 FPS with vsync on and the difference between areas where it's 60 and 30 seem minor.

You're using vsync on its own or are you forcing triple buffering? Because if it's just vsync, it makes sense that your framerate would drop from 60 straight to 30.

I assume that performance/framerate will be improved as the release approaches.

Oh, I know that it makes sense to be going from 30 to 60 where there are drops. What I meant was I didn't think it should be doing as such so I was wondering if others were having a hard time maintaining 60.

I don't hit 60 at all, but I'm on an older card at a high resolution. Most developers leave framerate optimization until the last minute so I suspect that it'll run better in the next few months.

I suppose you could use Dragon Commander as a barometer for performance since it uses the same engine.

Decided to bite the £45 bullet and pick this up for myself and a friend. An hour in and I'm really liking it. It's certainly an alpha, and there are certainly a few minor issues, but it's actually holding up well (wasn't sure how doing an RPG with actual reading would work in coop, but so far so good).

We're absolutely the worst characters to ever grace the world though. Killed the two starting guards (after I died to one of them), had a ship burn down (after my friend thought it would make sense to waste his rain scroll on some boxes >_>) and we had an NPC who we were meant to be protecting for a quest vanish into nothingness, but still having a really good time. :D

"Having a good time" is best description of this game.

I for example talked with Shell Pearl King and dropped him to sea. In exchange he gave me treasure box with 18 gold in it. Next time i will sell motherfucker.

Still that was one of most fun quests i have ever done in RPG.

It's a pretty impressive improvement from the first alpha to the second, particularly considering there were holidays in between. I don't think they'll make their revised release date either, but who cares if they manage to make the best possible game they can.

I thought about getting this. Is there a lot of story in the alpha? Or is it just basic gameplay\mechanics?

Sometimes I like early access but in this case I can't decide if it's better to wait for the full release.

The alpha is meant to cover around the first 15 hours of the game. So yeah, the story is there.

Has there been any word on what the Collector's Edition will include and when it'll be available? Its apparent existence is single-handedly preventing me from buying the game as I don't want to jump in now only for the CE to pop up later with no upgrade option for early birds.

This is what the Digital Collector's Kickstarter tier offered. Maybe it's that pack? (Well, without the Kickstarter potion obviously...)

That does seem likely, although I'd also cross out the gift copy on the count of the "deluxe" two-pack that's currently available. Cheers.

So you can break open doors? Been attacking the one leading to the dusty house for 30 seconds and getting nothing but an "absorbed" message.

In the previous alpha build you could break open doors fairly easily. Maybe they changed that now?

There are other ways to get into houses though. ;-)

I realize this is an alpha but

-background music in game sounds like im playing Zelda or Evoland.
-menu music and design is so basic, it has to be a mockup.
-I'm pretty sure that if there was a disable gui option, I'd get 30fps+ with my setup on medium settings. as it is now, going into the menus from say like, the start menu and my fps tanks from 60 to FIVE. In game is more like 10 at most on the lowest settings, which of course disables water entirely but the game still makes water splooshing sounds and all that.
-there's boxes and some seashells and stuff, but uh, all the containers are devoid of anything.

besides that, I'm not really sure how i feel about a 3d isometric non-grid style fallout in a fantasy setting, because basically that's this.

I read somewhere that music, sounds are still mostly WIP.

Still that tavern music is abysmal. City music is rather good. Still i think from current OST side that they just didn't implement proper music. OST from Dragon Commander was excellent.

IMO i wish they could take a note for this track for tavern music:

The Witcher - Tavern at the end of world

this game is still alpha and is released in two weeks? will there even be a beta?
will the game be "reset" on release?

It doesn't release in two weeks, they nixed that date recently, right now is in Spring without any conclusive date given.

Wound up getting this on Early Access. Was trying to resist but finally game in. =p I really like what I've seen so far. Did a bit of fighting on the way to the first town, which was fairly entertaining. Mostly, though, I've been enjoying going through conversations with people. It's impressive just how well little bits of information come out about the area and what's going on there by slowly going around and chatting with the locals. I'm finding I have to do some genuine detective work to get down to the bottom of things instead of talking to two or three people on a chain quest who dump all the information on me.

Not sure how far I want to go in the game right now, though, as I don't want to spoil things too much. Overall, the game is running decent. Frame rate feels a bit off, and only hit one bug so far, a conversation window with nothing in it, so I couldn't even exit it and had to quit that session. All stuff I'm sure will be addressed before the game is complete. For now I'm quite impressed with it. Looks great, and it's really shaping up to have a living, breathing world. =)

That's a lovely trailer.

Have they said anything about schedules and weather stuff? I haven't been following development too closely.

IGN's vid preview: http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/02/27/divinity-original-sin-gameplay-commentary

If you want to avoid spoilers in the vid, here's the updated gameplay features:

-You can preview the path of your spells (and ranged shots?) Oddly, that wasn’t in the dev build, but it WILL be in the next Early Access build.
-Bigger arrows for switching between party members inventories.
-Switching party members in the barter screen and skills menu.
-Radius markers for spells (really fancy ones, too)
-Tombstones are still in, but they’ve gotten a new look too.
-Minimap arrows to indicate the direction of your party members
-Graphical upgrade for Skills menu
Perception will give you an indication in Charm/Reason/Intimidate dialogue about which one (if any) gives you a situation bonus.
-New Status effects: Slow (half AP) and Chilled. Both were tied to environmental conditions in specific areas.

1/2 It's not quest markers - it's just marking things like - this here is Arhu's house, this here is Esmeralda's house
2/2 We've done all this work to create freedom so we won't ruin it with quest handholding - but we can help ppl with amnesia

I laughed.

I would REALLY like to see this game come to consoles. I need a good RPG on my PS4.

I'd rather see Larian making some expansion packs for this :)

Great interview at RPS about changes they've made due to feedback, coming close to closure several times in their early days and the importance of having a woman writer on the team.

I'm reading the interview right now and really agree with him especially that part:
. It’s easy to go along the beaten path, but then you’re not going to have any evolution in games. You’ll have rehashes of the same thing over and over. There’s a lot of gamers out there, more gamers than ever, and they’re looking for a little bit more intelligent content. That’s where we want to be with this one.
