DmC: Devil May Cry - Demo Thread [Demo out now on XBL & PSN]

Same. PS Store should update early Tuesday morning instead of some random time after 3.

I always thought it was 5PMEST for some reason.

Is Vergil the Legendary Dark Knight?

Nope, that's Sparda. Yamato was originally one of Sparda's weapons like Rebellion...although Rebellion didn't exist in DMC lore until DMC2.

His human form he had a monocle and this purple Kazuya Mishima-like suit.

Coming from somebody that just loved the first DMC, this demo did nothing for me. It's already deleted from my demo list. The boss fight was ok and kind of interesting, but the actual demo of running around punching camera eyes, didn't click with me. If it sold me on anything, it's probably me now wanting the HD collection of the first game. On a graphical standpoint, it's just so....below HD. At least to me. I'll pass, too many other games coming out 1st quarter next year.

the guy is fairly known for his hatred of the game.

He did show it though, the fight looks braindead easy, knowing that lots of gaming journalists died several times (one even rage quitted) this fight on normal tells a lot about how much we should care about reviews for combat games.

PS3 version of Enslaved is the worst game I played in my life.
First game that really gave me headaches because of the slideshow framerate and screen tearing. Shame coz I really love how NT uses color.

Demo didn't do much for me. Visuals look really nice but I always liked the environmental art so that wasn't a shocker. Dialog in that boss battle was godawful and the actual performance didn't sound natural at all.

I'll try to mess around with it a bit more, but eh. I'll still try the full retail game out atleast.

Just played the first level.

I went into this very sceptical.

Environment design was good and I liked the morphing environments, The last part with the urgent run to get out the church sucked but everything else was great. Colour choices helped created a lovely atmosphere.

Combat was fine a bit more button bash that traditional DMC but I don't hate that.

Character design I actually ended up liking. The Reimagined Dante looks fine and his little girlfriend looks good as well.

Audio was good when in combat but the dialogue felt .. forced and awkward. Dante always having the last word and being the cool guy is overplayed and when you get a check point with that bitch shouting "dante run!!" and dante saying "I Am running" and you hear it 8 times it gets annoying.

Monster Design sucks balls what the hell are those things im fighting. Looks like The flood for halo crossed with that black gloop stuff from kingdom hearts, just terrible.

Very Mixed feelings. Ill buy the game day 1 to see how it all turns out but the demo didn't really insight hope in me

Edit: as a side note That woman running around after dante stinks of Ninja theory.

Hero + Buddy is ninja theory 101 and its getting old.

:lol

Where's my trailer for this trailer of the demo of the game?

But yeah. I can't wait to play it. I loved 3 and 4.
3rd more.

Not liking the controls one bit. How to I block? I'm sure it said LB or RB but now nothing happens.

Hmm...when do you guys guess we'll be getting the PC version? It's going to be a long wait and having a PS3 I'm sure the console version will tempt me. However, the fact the game's probably getting dubbed here (Spain, we have good va's but I'd rather play in English) and the expectation of 60 FPS for PC will surely make it worth the wait.

If you have a capable pc, you might as well wait regardless of the temptation.

I always download these type of demos, but even if I have fun, I always forget about it when the full release comes out. Same thing happened with the DMC4 and Bayonetta demos.

Yeah, I know. It's just that I've always loved DMC and strangely as it might seem I didn't ever hate DmC so it's been a long wait for me, I was thinking I might double dip but I don't know if that'd be wise with the current economy and all the new games coming up next year.

I might end up just renting the PS3 version and then grabbing the PC version day 1 in Steam.

Didn't like the demo. Also I'm sick of blue and orange. I mean it's not a bad game, but well it's not Bayonetta or DMC3 level. The environment is interesting though. I might buy it cheap for that.

In what may the be the easiest contest of all time, this is Ninja Theory's best game.

Seems alright so far. The boss is kind of dreadful (in all sorts of ways), but not as boring as I thought it would be. I guess how good this game ends up being depends on how they push enemies (going "Ikaruga" isn't really a long-term solution) and if the harder difficulty is available from the start. I think it will review well in any case (I'm sort of dreading the declaration by reviewers saying "this is the direct the series NEEDED to go in"). Seems like I missed a few moves/moves not listed in the move set.

Anyone else find fighting the floating babies kind of annoying? I hate when I end up pulling the wrong enemy.

Game seems like self parody.

As a whole it seems more like a social critique with forced "I'm too cool" one-liners from Dante, to me anyway. I may be wrong.

Anyway, I still feel like it's a GOW game that punishes button-mashing. I don't think my previous controller config is gonna work here, I like mapping my gun button to the triggers.
It's a nice action game regardless. Will wait for the bargain bin.

I'm taking Dante exactly how NT portrays him through there Vid Docs, character art, demos and interviews. It is, to me, an unappealing character. The character art of Dante screaming and inserting his finger into a stab wound is proof of this - that's not a self parody.

EDIT: image I'm referencing. This is the image of new Dante that I don't care for.

The context of the scene isn't that Dante cut himself to "see if he has a heart."

Rather, as described by capcom - he was stabbed. And obviously didn't die. And that was him for the first time realizing what he truly is. He's checking his heart to see why something that would normally kill him isn't.

It's not him whiz-bang ninja cool goth kid cutting himself cus he can and then poking himself for the fuck of it.

Demo crashed on me, going thru it again now.

It doesn't seem you can demon pull while in mid air which seems like a big oversight.
Stop your momentum to pull out a ledge instead of being able to do it while in air and then angel lift in mid air.

I do hope their is some kind of overrev mechanic like dmc4 had with Nero's red queen sword.

I'm guessing that OG Dante and OG Vergill will end up as DLC skins. I don't mind the new Dante too much, new Vergil is kind of a train-wreck though. Dat hat.

I loved that. Though I was disappointed you could never stab it into an enemy and ride them like he did in one of the first cutscenes.
