"He wasn't there like multiple versions of DMC3?"

"Really I don't know maybe... "

Better than DMC4?
Better than DMC2 for sure.

Better than DMC4 in some areas (level design, pacing) but not as good as it in others (combat, game play).

Those disk looking things are cool, they remind me of the Chakrams from KoA, which where they only good thing about that game.

Where they in any past DMC games?
First time in a DMC game, one of the best things in the game. Kablooey is new too to DMC. I mean there have been explosive type weapons in DMC before but that weapon allows you to manually detonate the explosives at will which makes for some great combo opportunities.

Also the Shotgun's Charged attack is like Blue Rose's LVL3 Charge. You hit them with an explosive shell but it explodes after a time delay.

They keep making jokes about sword slashing people into the air and shooting guns. Cool that they are recognizing Bayonetta and Vanquish during the quick look too. They also get why people might be ticked off about the redesign, but say they should chill out and go play other platinum games if they miss that style that bad / other games in that style will still be made.

Dont want to watch too much more though since i'll probably get spoiled somewhere down the line.

IMO they showed one of the uglier levels in the game. That was one of the weaker missions. So much god damn platforming, introduction of color coated enemies and those god damn acid pools spilling everywhere.

Speaking of which, are red enemies weak to angel weapons and blue to devil? Or is it the other way around where you have to match blue to blue and red to red?

Other way around. Red enemies are susceptible to the Demon weapon, and Blue enemies to the Angel weapon.

I'm wondering how colored enemies passed. Seriously. They are by far the worst enemies in the game especially before you get the second set of weapons.

Probably one of those things that sounded good on paper/design table but when implemented wasn't as good.

Funny, I just completed that mission like 5-6 times in order to get the SSS (needed to get all lost souls, bah), and I enjoyed it even on the fifth try. :D

If you mean the fifth mission, by the way. Did not see any streams.

The GB quicklook is really surprising. I went from not caring to probably getting it whenever it comes out for PC. The art style is unique and the VO seems pretty good, better than expected.

Better than DMC2. Will be better than DMC4 to some people, worse for others.

I was going to say this...I lost patience with DmC4 because of the jumping puzzles where if you missed, you fell in an area with respawning ennemies, you had to fight to get back up,try the jumps again, miss, fall in the hole, rinse and repeat...guess I sucked at that part and just gave up on the game...

Seeing how good it looks on the 360 I cant even begin to imagine how great it probably looks on a good PC,my god it must be beautiful.

Definitely a hold over from Heavenly Sword's design of hit yellow dude with yellow weapon, red dude with red weapon, and blue dude with blue weapon.

That game blew.

Honestly, I don't think this sounds good even on paper. "Let's make enemies that are only vulnerable to a certain type of weapon. It'll really force players to pay attention and use certain moves creating a challenge." Ugh.

DMC4. DmC4 is being released in 2019.

I should own it? Is it that good?

I've never actually played a DMC game. :X

Go buy the HD collection. I can wholeheartedly recommend that to anyone, and everyone should own that. DMC4 is a combat masterpiece, but it's weak in certain areas... particularly level design and has backtracking. For someone who's not a fan and just starting out, you could do much worse if there's a sale.

He wasn't alone.
Good control scheme?

In DmC demo you have evade 1 and evade 2.

Is evade 1 and evade 2 the same throughout the game? No individual upgrades?

So the big question for those who've picked it up:

Is it better than DMC2?

Better than DMC4?

After finishing the game, I have been replaying missions over and over and over and over again, some for fun, some for the rank achievement, and of course there are the new difficulties. I will say that for me, personally, the weakest missions in DmC easily surpass the best missions in DMC4. Easily. Not the bossfights, though, obviously.

So I would say that, without even bringing gameplay arguments to the table (in which DMC4 is superior, although radically different as well), I would say that DmC missions >>> DMC4 missions, but at the same time, DmC Bloody Palace might still pale in comparison to DMC4 bloody palace.

But as I keep improving in DmC, I cant help but anticipate DmC Bloody Palace more and more. It is going to be amazing, if they do not mess it up. And if they include a color code-less option, that is pure heaven.

Duly noted; I'll be on the lookout for a Steam sale.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Number 2 in the world for Mission 12 on Son of Sparda mode. :lol Naturally that will drop like a rock once people have more time with it but for someone who only got the game yesterday, I'd regard that as a success! I see that in Son of Sparda in general, I'm ranked quite highly. I have no intention of playing for scores though. Just the Platinum trophy.

I'll put my hands in the air and say I was completely wrong about DmC. I honestly expected it to be crap, but having played it I'll say that it's definitely defied my expectations. Ninja Theory did a great job.

I will say that I still think a reboot itself was unnecessary (I still greatly prefer the old versions of the characters/universe, and will be playing exclusively as DMC3 Dante once the DLC gets released), but they completely, 100% delivered in terms of actual gameplay, which is the most important part.

A DmC 2 from Ninja Theory will definitely get my money day one, the franchise is in safe hands. A DMC5 from Ninja Theory will have me on my knees, weeping with joy, and pre-ordering all the copies.

No thank you. I want my DMC5 back on the MT Framework with Capcom at the helm, if that's even possible now.

I am however more than happy to see NT stick with the DmC side of things and do a DmC2. Lot of room to progress with this particular universe.

NO thanks to DMC5 from NT but I would be fine with DmC2 by NT. At the same time, no thanks to DmC2 by Capcom Japan.

Also I don't know what GB was smoking when they brought up reactive difficulty. No such thing in the game, enemies have pretty much the same AI throughout.

I don't agree the franchise is not in good hands, if they make a sequel or DMC 5 I will not be purchasing it.

It's not that I don't want Capcom to return the the franchise. I'm just assuming NT will be on dev duties for the next few games at least, and whilst I'm happy with the work they did on this one, I'd still greatly prefer a return to the old universe over a sequel set in this one.

Is there any sort of NG+ mode? I know you can re-enter missions after the game is completed, but will you re-enter with all of your equipment that youve obtained etc? (GB's review said that some places arent accessible until you find certain weapons/items).

More than likely getting this after work. Really liked the demo and I've never played a Devl May Cry game before.

Welp. My EB Games had a very limited supply of the 360 version so I went with the PS3 as I wanted to use my gift card. I'm wondering if I should hold out and trade it in for 360 at another store or when they get more copies at mine...

Any more impressions on the PS3 version from folks who've had it in a while? Help a brother out! :p

I really suck at platforming.

Besides that it seems like a good game.

I like the combat, especially when it picks up once you get stuff like Arbiter

I like the new enemy designs a lot.

and brace yourselves Gaf....

It's fine, dude. If you're a real stickler for performance, wait for the PC version. At the end of the day, you're getting the feel of 60 on both consoles.

Next game + is a staple of the franchise.

Mission 5 just gave me enough platforming to last 2 lifetimes. I never want to play that level again.
While I don't think any other level has that much platforming... prepare for more platforming.

Like I said in the previous page, Mission#5 is one of the weaker missions in the game.
