Do NOT buy Matrix Online - Game is broken and unplayable

So Fry's had Matrix Online on say for $35 so I decided to check it out. I played the beta a while and it was fun, so I was hoping some of the crashing issues would've been fixed in the final. Nope.

I created a character on the Proxy server and then crashed out before the tutorial could even start. No problem I thought, I'll just log back in. Nope, the character doesn't show up on the server list and I can't recreate it because the name was already claimed.

So I then created a new character on the Method server and the Tutorial is broken where no matter what you do you can't get the dojo doors to open to continue to the combat part of the tutorial and finish it.

If I could return the game I would, but now I'm stuck with an unplayable MMO.

Oh, and it gets better. There is no way for you to cancel your game account. They force you to select a billing plan that will automatically bill you after the 30 days and their account system gives you NO WAY to end the billing.

Fuck this!

They put Sega and Atari on the box, didn't they? That's a hint to avoid it.

And it's really fucked up that they don't let people cancel billing. Once you activate your account you're stuck paying them $15 forever.

there's really no phone option?

Oh my god! A MMORPG that has problems at launch?

Yeah, a shocker, I know, but I don't think they fix broken games. So whatever problems there are now are likely permanent if its under Sega's watch.

Isn't that against the law or something?

I found the "phone option" and called them. After waiting on hold I got a guy who tried everything possible to talk me out of cancelling the account and would not do it until I finally asked him to close it or get me someone who will.

FUCK THE FUCK THEM FUCK THEM FUCK THEM!

I had them close the account, check, it was closed, and then I got an email that it has been reactivated.

According to them if you close your account and then load the official website for any reason it automatically reactivates it.

WTF, There's some robot technology right there, it's obvious this isn't the real world, man!

lol, wow. Where's that guy that was hyping TMO under NDA now?

Did you really have to post 7 more times on your own thread declaring your own incompetence at handling what seems to be an extremely simple issue? :lol

It seems that as much as Matrix Online might suck, you got owned by it, hard. So we know at least that Matrix Online >>> Manabyte. (Not saying much though)

The fact he bought it at all says something.

So I guess this game qualifies as a low royalty payment for the developer according to Jason Hall/WB's newfangled scheme right? WB, Hall and every person behind this game deserve this game's failure.

Edit: I also find it hilarious and shocking that the tutorial dojo door glitch is still present. I first got in on the beta in November (and stopped playing quickly thereafter) and that glitch was present back then! WTF! Even Galaxies wasn't THIS bad.

Where is our resident Matrix Online whore? WHERE IS CYBERCRASH! Hmmm hasn't posted since a month ago today...

Ok, I absolutely loathe The Matrix Online, but this is something common in every MMORPG launch.

I have never heard of any other MMORPG company cancelling a player's 30 day trial the day they bought the game.

Yeah, yeah, I know. But there was one person in particular that used to (or still does) post here hyping it like the second coming. Its different because some other MMORPGs might have a chance, but we all pretty much knew TMO was shit from the get-go. People kept calling him on his BS and I just wondered what he would've said in response to this.

Why do they deserve the game to fail? Because it's based on a property that's no longer 'in style'? Or because the thought of motivating developers to actually make an effort when producing licensed games offended you, and Jason Hall and company should suffer for it? The only people I can imagine taking offense are the ones who make their living crapping out shovelware based on licenses to turn a quick buck and see Hall's 'scheme' as a threat to their bottom line. Can't say I have any sympathy for companies like those. (Insert quote of Bruno Bonnell pissing and moaning about Hall's policy here. :p )

And I have never heard of anyone buying an MMORPG and then calling the MMORPG company that day to cancel the account as soon as it was made. Much less called to cancel it twice. Why are you surprised?

I'm pretty sure if you bought any MMOG, made an account, subscribed, had a free month before payment started, then called them to cancel they'd deactivate your subscription account, which includes the first free month. If you reopen it, most would still give you the free days you have left on it before payment started.

What you need to do is wait and call the day before your first month is up and then cancel before they call your card. It's like that with any trial subscription (see Xbox Live).

If they're really nice, you can ask them to flag your account for deletion as soon as your free time expires, but I've never seen it in my own experience.

Are you new to MMORPGs?

You know Juice, you should really stop posting in topics where you have no fucking clue what you're talking about. I guess being completely owned in that God of War thread didn't teach you a lesson.

I've worked for two MMORPG companies and played ever major MMORPG released and that's not how it works.

You can buy the game and just play the free month if you want. Cancelling does not cancel out the free month that you get with the $50 software purchase.

They cancelled my free month because the senior citizen on the other end of the line was so senile she didn't know what she was doing.

:lol It's funny cause it didn't happen to me.

No, I didn't buy the game. I'm just laughing cause when misfortune befalls others it's funny.
