Do You Consider Messenger Bags on Men a Purse?

I was going to say, the prototypical briefcase you see in movies is way out of style. Every professional I see carries a messenger bag.

They are not really usable. That's why we barely see them. They need to get it out of the beta asap before the mass market will accept them.

I have this Muzetto (in a different color) and I couldn't be happier, my Vaio Z fits just fine, like a glove...

I love this one. Wow. That green totally sells it for me.

Not at all. In fact, the American(?) cultural bias against hand bags for men is really a shame - they look like they'd be really efficient for carrying just a few things when a backpack is too much or inappropriate.

heh heh men who use THIS bag by my standards is MORE FEMININE which means he is not a MAN and that means i am BETTER than him

I'm in Florida and, as I'm sure you might imagine, it's hot as hell sometimes. I walk to and from work, 4.3 miles each way.

It's great exercise, but I sweat like a pig sometimes so I pack a fresh set of clothes for work in my backpack. Other than that I carry my nexus 7, charger, deodorant, and a few other odds and ends.

I feel like an asshole using a backpack, and this thread has really gotten me thinking about a messenger. If I could find a larger one that might accommodate my needs and was still masculine and understated, I'd be terribly interested.

Mayhaps you are projecting? Purse commonly encodes a feminine connotation, but, while your interpretation is becoming popular in discussions recently, could this more just be a 'my bag is better than yours' competitiveness and not a judgement on a bag wearer's presentation?

I use the XL version of this bag on a day to day. Do people carry purses on their backs?

Here's the one I've lugging around for three or so years.

Used to carry a 15" laptop in it and it was a shoulder buster. Now I put a Macbook Air in it and it's much more comfortable. The strap does make my man-breasts more pronounced. I've transported so much shit in this bag. Both my rabbit and my ex-gf has somehow peed on it, and I've spilled so many sauces in it, but the thing still holds up. Retails for $195, but I paid $75, so good bag in my view.
