Do you ever wake up early to play a game?

Sleep is the greatest gift life has to offer, a game would have to be mighty special to deprive me of that. Having said that, the days after I got my PS3 I would try and sneak in some MotorStorm/WipEout before high school sometimes, not often though. I'm more the 'stay up late and game's rather than 'wake up early and game', I guess.

Even now at 42 years old, if there's a game I'm really into I will get up a bit earlier at the weekend and have some peaceful gaming to myself before others get up

Since I live in Europe now and my friends live over in NA, I gotta get up to play some Counter-Strike with them on days off.

I have insomnia so it doesn't matter.

I used to long ago whenever it was a game my two sisters and myself all wanted to play. Last time I did so was when Twilight Princess released on the Wii.

I work nights and don't get to game much though the week, so I often stay up Saturday morning and game all day. I usually get up early Sunday morning too and continue with the gaming.

This meant that every day when my mother was still sleeping, I would get up and try to unlock as much stuff as I could to prepare for when my friends would show up.
Haha, you should just never had turned the system off in the first place. Reminds me of some of my old N64 that required the save pak-thingy (which I didn't own).

I don't go to sleep at all, because of games. Sleeping is such a waste of time.

When I was a kid I got up early on weekends to sneak in some game time before my parents woke up.

They probably knew!

Almost every day. Go to bed at 8.30 pm. Work at night, then 2 hours of sleep, wake up at around 9 am. and play games and surf the interwebs for 3 hours or more until kids get out of school.

Back in middle school I did for Ocarina of time
I'd wake up at 6 am , play for an hour, eat, brush teeth and go to school

I just did it for splatoon 2 lol

I woke up early a couple of times the week the Switch + Zelda came out so I could get an hour in before work. I did that with Pokemon Sun as well, but I can't remember what game would have done that for me beyond that... I like waking up early much more now than I did say two or three years ago haha

I started calling it the Scooby snacks effect. When you have a good game waiting and you wake up and you're all perked up and ready to go, lol. None of that morning sluggishness.

If I'm getting up extra early it's to hit the gym. It's great you still have that level of excitement OP, but I haven't had that since I was a kid.

Used to as a kid for Pokemon and highschool to get some sneaky Ninja Gaiden in before catching the bus.

Hell, I even did it this morning for Splatoon 2! ;)

But today is on the weekend and I have no work commitments. Weekday/working day? No way. Would play some Nintendo Switch on the train however as a compromise.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Back in middle/high school I would wake up before everyone else on the weekends to play StarCraft and Warcraft 3 because we only had one computer then which had to be shared with my siblings.

As a grown up? No, sleeps too precious.

At 37, this is what I do. I go to work at 5:30am, so I usually get up at around 3:30am to play and stream for a bit. I surf the web for a while and have some coffee and that's how I start my day.

I'm a morning person so, yes definitely. Already played an hour of Zelda this morning :)

Typically not before work though.

I usually don't sleep if the game is very good, so waking up only becomes an issue the day after I got the game :)

The last time i did that (not because of work but because of pure excitement) was back in 2003 with FFX. :/
Since then i loved too many games way too much more than i did FFX but strangely none made me do that...i just couldn't get enough.I really can't explain it but i got seriously addicted to FFX (the second time i tried it).

Haha, yes. I do it every weekend. My wife sleeps in a little so I usually wake up at 7:30 am and play all morning. It's actually when I get in the majority of my game time. I can put in 10 hours between Saturday and Sunday mornings vs about 1 to 2 hour during the whole week combined.

I used to do all nighters but now I find it's just easier to sleep early the night before and get up at 3am and play through the day. It's what I did with FFXV over a weekend and doing so I avoided totally messing up my sleep pattern.

When I was younger I did so all the time, getting up 2 or so hours before my parents were awake to sneak in a few game sessions. Now that I'm older I very rarely do this anymore, instead I will book a holiday for a game's release if I'm super hyped about it, but will keep to my normal sleep schedule during this period. The last game I took time off work to just play was Fallout 4 back in 2015, took 2 weeks off to play it. It was either Fallout 4, Witcher 3 or MGS5 that I wanted to just play but since the majority of my gaming time has always been with Bethesda, I went with them.

I think, depending on if this game releases on GOG coinciding with its Steam release, I may have to book time off to play Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord when it finally releases.

When I was a kid I'd get up early on the weekend and play Final Fantasy 9 on the PSX in my living room before anyone got up. When everyone did get up they'd be super annoyed while I ran around looking for a save point.

One of my fond childhood memories is to receive a new game for Christmas or my birthday. The next following days I would wake up early to play the game intensively. These early hours were great.

Yes! I just remember waking up early and it being cold and snowy outside (back when it still snowed during winter) and playing Zelda OOT early in the morning after christmas. Sitting in my toasty house playing Zelda before anyone woke up was one of the best things ever. Especially since you were on Christmas break and you knew you still had a week to split time between hanging outside and vegging out in front of the N64.

This was also back when new tech was being developed rapidly, so everything was kind of a marvel. It's been a long time since I've been able to engross myself in a game like that, but Bloodborne/Dark Souls comes pretty close.

I do rather regularly. Purchases from US PSN unlock at 6am here so when I'm excited for something that's when I get up. Last example was Nioh.

Never did, never will.
I was teached very early to not fuck with my sleep, it's a very important health matter (having people die earlier than they should have in my family mostly because they worked on night shift during most of their life and that fucked their sleeping habits probably helped)

Though I did slept late a few times but almost only when I knew the following day I didn't have to wake up for work/school, and I never did that on a regular basis.

So no, as said earlier sleeping >>>>>> gaming.
