Do you ever wake up early to play a game?

Nope. Honestly I find it very difficult to game during the day for some reason. It's like I can't focus on it and the only exceptions are games that completely consume me. I do 90+% of my gaming at night.

Yes, most days actually before work and especially on launch days of games I want to play right away.

It helps that my work situation allows it, and that I don't mind waking up before the sun is up to play vidyas! ;-)

A few times I woke up early were for Sonic 2 genesis, Sonic Colors Wii and Wolfenstein 3D on an old Windows 95 PC.

As of recently though, Call of War 1942 and its F2P mechanics have had me waking up early. It paid off needless to say because I managed to Win with Italy against a Soviet-Turk alliance which was tank spamming to break in through Yugoslavia with the magic power of timed Anti Tank weaponry research and deployments.

Europe 33 days later became almost fully mine, split with Spain. US player didn't really do anything.

Have been contemplating looking at Supremacy 1914 since it has what looks to be Deeper resource management, but the tech tree is very simple, or looks as such compared to CoW 1942.

No, I tried it a few times with a few different games and it was never worth it. The session always ended up being kinda unfulfilling and once I had to stop to go to work/school/whatever I had to do I would just end up getting bummed out, more so than I would have been if I'd not played, plus I'd be more tired to boot.

If I want to get more hours in I'll just stay up later and play.

Never during weekdays. I am not in the "relax" mindset to enjoy games before work.

During the weekends? Maybe. With a newborn though, I am lucky if I can game for an hour or two.

Nope. I usually start playing in the afternoon, and I don't usually play on weekends. Evenings work better for horror games as well.

I sometimes get up early to play something, usually something i'm interested in. I work a late shift on a Wednesday, so i'm usually up 6am playing something as i can't play anything in the evening.

When I was a kid I would wake up early before my parents to squeeze more time out of my daily allowance of game time.

Now I just stay up late to play a game and hate myself in the morning.

It's pretty much the only time I get to play games. Up at 4am. I have two kids and a wife. So my time is pretty locked up. Except for 4am-7am. That's my time. I own it.

I've gotten up one hour earlier then usual before work, to play preloaded games on Steam. Portal 2, Skyrim, XCOM, XCOM2 and some other.

nah I don't need to. I do get up early on weekends because of my internal clock, plus I like the quiet. Sometimes I'll game, sometimes not.

Not really, I usually play in the evening on work days if at all, and I usually start midday on the weekends. Though a few games that I loved dearly I would absolutely play from Dusk till to Dawn from the moment I woke up. The entirety of the Persona series and the Metal Gear series were definitely my most recent examples of that.

Interesting, when I was a footloose and fancy free student, I loved playing Madden or NCAA in late afternoon on perfect fall days with the door and windows open.

Not since I was ten or eleven years old.

That said, I woke up two hours early the day Destiny launched (without planning it, so it was somewhat subconsciously) and played for a while before going to work.

Yeah. When I'm really absorbed and have shit all to do, I'll stay up late and get up as early as I can, even if when I do I feel tired still.

I used to schedule my life around Animal Crossing back on the GameCube and would wake up at 5 AM at times just either so I could play before school or for specific events. Something about playing that just when the sun was rising was delightful.

Of course! At weekends I often get up at 3,4, or 5am to play a game. During the week I am up at 3-4am for work so doesn't bother me getting up at that time. I like it because of the peace and quiet.

Been doing it for Horizon Zero Dawn and Zelda but it started way back when Pokemon Red/Blue came out. I wouldn't waste any time and would be playing it pretty much every waking moment.

Damn, wake up at 3? I do the opposite: go to sleep at 3. Gaming late-night is awesome. Don't you get tired by mid-day Saturday/Sunday?

I wake up early on the weekends to play a couple hours uninterrupted before the kids wake up. It's the only time I can play mature games, really. I'm generally too tired at night.

I've tried to a few times since I have a full-time job. The idea was that I'd adjust my sleep schedule so that I'd go to bed around 8 or 9 and wake up around 4 or 5, but that assumption usually fails because 1) I'm rarely ever able to go to bed that early, and 2) I spend an hour waking up when I get up that early because I'm not at all a morning person.

Not very often. Every now and then I'll get really into an Animal Crossing game and then I'll get up early and stay up late to do certain events. Usually I just stay up late playing games.

Hex tourneys on weekends are usually earlier than my usual waking hours so i did have to wake up a couple of times early to play.

When Dragon Quest VIII came out I became addicted to it and snuck into my brother's room while he slept and played until he woke up.

From 6-10am is my favorite time to game for some reason. When my 3 year old inevitability wakes me up early on Saturday morning I go out to the living room and get a few hours in and watch the sun comes up.

I would always try to sneak in some extra gaming time when I was younger, especially when I was really enjoying a game. When I was running college cross country, we'd occasionally have 6AM workouts, so I'd usually get back to my room and put an hour or so into whatever I was playing at the time before my girlfriend woke up. I've got lots of good memories of doing that with Digital Devil Saga and SMT Nocturne.

Nowadays, I don't do it too much (mainly because I'm always on the verge of being late to begin with lol) but with Persona 5 coming, I'll probably try to fit in some early morning sessions again.

I get up early now and walk to the coffee shop nearby. Take BotW with me and do some cooking and ingredient gathering, upgrade armor and buy arrows. Upkeep stuff. Maybe some snow bowling or horse training if I have the time.

It's a nice, relaxing way to spend the morning, and lets me just go ham once I get off of work since a lot of the little stuff is taken care of already.

When I was a kid waking up early to play games was an amazing experience.
Now I just want my sleep. Judging by how some of the people in that thread have to wake up early to make time for gaming because they are married and have kids makes me think I'll probably stop gaming when that time comes for me. :^(

I will on April 4th.

Used to, and sometimes will on the weekends. During the week, I'm all about maximizing my sleep time before getting ready for work.
