Do you have a ‘go to’ game?

Games are just to have fun my man, not a list full of elements to check out.

Dusk. Iga-Vania's. FEAR. Road to Vostok. Vampire Survivors. Gloomwood but I stopped myself to wait for it to be complete. Surely will come right back here. Such a perfect sandbox.

It was just more epic. It wasn't just the better graphics, but it had bigger maps, bigger unit sizes, an insane number of units, defense options, nukes, anti-nuke missiles, defense cannons that could launch base destroying payloads half way across the map, flying units that you can customise the patrol paths, naval battles, submarines........

And the Krogoth "death" unit.

The fact that this game has never had a remaster is a crime against humanity.
Are you on the Beyond All Reason train my man?

Hunt: Showdown is my go-to, main squeeze really. I don't even play it a major amount anymore but I always pop in for a match here and there or a friend will hit me up for a few.

For single player games, Symphony of the Night and Super Mario World are games I will always randomly play an hour of or whatever.

Not much nowadays. Mario Kart World should've been a lot better. If it generated random Knockout tours routes it would've been insanely addictive. And no intermission races in normal race mode.

SupCom was great. Yes, TA does suffer from just the two factions. Both the Core and Arm are also very similar as well. TA however holds a special, nostalgic place in my heart.

Speaking of SupCom and TA, how do they handle on modern systems? Do they play well on the Steam Deck? TA plays fine on my crusty laptop, but I'm thinking of the Steam Machine and would love to be able to play both SupCom and TA on it.
Supcom should work fine (full disclosure don't have a steam deck) but it is limited to a single core. If you are playing big online multiplayer games with hundreds of fighters the sim speed will start to drop below one which might be an issue for other players.

My random goto default boot up for 0 reasons

Dark souls 1

It's my comfort food. My safe space. My home. Where I want to be. It's a game I owned At launch on 360 in 2011. Booted it up. Got intimidated. Bailed

Came back shortly after the remaster launched in 2018.

It became the greatest game I've ever played in my 39 years.

I used to default to old CODs. World at War, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops 1, etc. These days I try to play something new from my backlog, but if I'm really not feeling it then I'll load up some old CODs again.

COD, racing games(The Crew Motorfest/GT7) & fighting games UFC/MK etc. Are my go to quick casual in and out sessions when I don't really have enough time to play something else.

Sure, there's usually some multiplayer title I jump back to for quick games. Tends to vary a bit depending on the system. On Nintendo platforms it's usually Mario Kart. On Series X I played a lot of Halo Infinite in short bursts. On PS4 it was probably Rocket League. Etc.

As for singleplayer titles Zelda: A Link to the Past is my go to.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 on Saturn and Streets of Rage 2 on Genesis are my main go-to games. Love the simplicity and pick-up-and-play nature of both. I also keep Doom Eternal installed for those times when I want to smash some demon skulls while zipping around like a fighter jet. When you're in the zone, fast-switching weapons for massive damage, smoking whatever the game throws at you, it feels godlike. Finally, Forza Horizon 5. My son and I love to play this together. Would say FH4, but we moved on from it after getting all the achievements. Going fast in cool cars never gets old.

Nah. For a long time it was gran turismo, but now I'm always playing different stuff.

It's because there are so many games now. My fallback is more like trying random stuff until I find something good.

Several.

Usually Halo MCC (with mods), fortnite (no-build mode), phasmophobia, bloodborne, and as of late: peak and pokemon legends ZA

Doom Wads

Turtle WoW
Hitman WOA Freelancer - Haven't played in a while, now but I was my comfort game for some time and I've been getting that feeling again.

Dota 2 used to be my go to game and I can't really see any game ever surpassing it in terms of total in game hours.
Currently it's probably GT7 but it's still nowhere close in terms of hours played.

Game no , but genre yes . Any offline city builder / rts that can be stop/pause anytime . Civil , anno , total war ,banished like .

A man of culture.

RTS, simulation builders, grand strategy games are what I call lazy Sunday afternoon games. Cozy games you can just relax to.
