Yes i do in open world RPG's, as you can easily completely miss the weapons if they are in side quests you don't do and i like to know what the good classes and stats are, plus i like to do most of the content.
Maybe if I'm completely "done" with the game, I might look up some curiosities, but most of the time that's not for me. It removes the point of the game for me.

I've never played the Monster Hunter games, but I assume that would be on the list if I did. In most games, different types of weapons aren't different enough from each other to matter. They don't let you acquire and spec your character in a direction enough that it's worth the time.
