Which Japanese Developer has ever exceeded in the graphics department since the Wii? Japanese are the kings of this hobby and they always put gameplay over graphics.
Do you still believe in the quality of Capcom games?

What Japanese development studios have better gameplay mechanics than western studios?
What has deeper gameplay mechanics TLOU P2 or RE8?
What has more refined gameplay mechanics FF16 or God of War Ragnarok?
If Guerrilla made a Monster Hunter clone it would be far superior.
I'm not trying to take the piss out of Japanese game development, I'm not, but the level of glaze they get, especially on GAF is unfounded.

Generally, yes. I think they are masters of their craft and are among the best in the industry.
That said, there have been some stinkers over the years. For me, usually in the performance category. MHWilds had issues, and I couldn't for the life of me get a decent framerate in Dragon's Dogma 2, even on potato settings (PC). Whereas, something like RE2/4 remakes I can max it out and get solid 60+.
(Admittedly, I'm running on a now dated RTX3080 but still guys. DD2 was horrendous.)

IIRC isn't it because of the RE Engine? Both MH Wilds and DD2 are more "open-world" compared to RE remakes.

Obnoxious fans have overrated them for most of this gen. Stale output consisting of more remakes and remasters than almost anyone. Resident Evil 4R is the height of it for me. Game is worse than the original and it was actually getting GOTY nods and people angry at people for just comparing the games side by side. Capgod is accurate because their fans are a bit cultish. MH Wilds demo told me all I needed to know to skip it and DD2 didn't live up to its potential at all. Doesn't matter if it's a crappy Dead Rising remake, people just repeat Capgod, Capgod and convince themselves it's great until it comes out and then they act surprised.
Still though, they're one of the only gameplay first studios out there besides Nintendo and when they do nail it, it's awesome. I think they're going to finally hit their stride for the first time this gen with Pragmata and Onimusha. Resident Evil 9 should be good too, but I've definitely played a lot of those.

I think they have good formula for games, but execution can sometimes be lacking.
Overall a good developer, will play future games for sure.
Sometimes can be overrated like RE2 Remake, which I felt was inferior to RE7 & 8.

It was in a real bad spot, and it got so much better. But it still feels kind of hit or miss for me personally. But that's an improvement from where they were at years ago during their rough patch.

I don't believe in them anymore now that Itsuno's gone. Who's going to make CvS3 now? But yeah, their games make a lot of money and people seem to like them but for me their current games are mostly inferior versions of their older games, and their best days are far behind them

You may not agree with this statement but Tlou 2 or god of war ragnarok wouldn't exist without Sony, A Japanese publisher.
It's not just about finding the right devs, it's about making the right target for your games. In America, there aren't a lot of companies that are making AAA singleplayer games with a complete focus on quality. Not as profitable as live service and too expensive. I can't think of a dev doing those personally.
And I know Sony's westernized but their entire brand since uncharted 2 has been a focus on top notch quality narrative games. Naughty Dog and Santa Monica would be making very different games without the Sony safety net. And we can all see Microsoft published games, that's what Sony would have been making if they were American.
Btw, Eastern and western europe still make excellent AAA games. The root of 'greediness' is America and America only.

For sure. But I think primarily Capcom is just the Resident Evil company. But who knows maybe Requiem will only be half of a game and the rest sold as DLC.

RE fans would be in for a rude awakening if that would be the case lol, but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that'd be the case seeing how they've treated DD and Monhun. Specially Monhun, considering the producer is the CEO's son and all that shit you'd expect them to treat that series a bit better, but I guess money comes first and customer satisfaction is just an afterthought for modern Capcom.

Monster Hunter is pretty much Capcom's Pokemon...you can treat it like garbage and it'll sell. What's been happening is that your fiscal year ends soon and they needed to put out something to bump up their revenue so they push out unfinished games like DD2 and MHW meanwhile take that extra care for franchises like RE.
Japan's fiscal year ends on March 31st and both games release dates coincide at the tail-end of both years of 2024 and 2025. Which suggests some bad management decisions to get that quick buck but ultimately suffer from diminishing returns.
With that in mind it is possible with RE9's release being February 26th that they may treat RE the same way as both Dogma and MH. Scary thought.

Capcom has this very werid cycle of "It's Joever / We're so back" with all their major franchises.
Devil May Cry, Street Fighter and Resident Evill all went through the most weird ups and downs over the last 15 years. Right now, almost every one of those is sitting in a very comfortable place on top... but they can always go SO DOWN.

They have been pretty mediocre ever since the last generation of consoles began. Not a single new IP in over 10 years. Just continual, increasingly worsening entries in their existing franchises.

Only Capcom franchise I really care is Resident Evil mainline and revelation series. Even the lowest ranked RE6, I rather enjoyed.
So as long as they keep the good quality RE series... they are good in my book.
(Partially because I'm so old, that trying out new franchise does require some leap of faith to the fact that I only have very limited time to play - so I tend to play safe with play what I like.)
I was pretty big SF2 and SF3 player, but never really got back into fighting games after SF3... so their SF games don't really mean much to me now.
Monster Hunter series is another one - like Souls games, was never really interested unfortunately. (I'm sure they are good)
