A few things:

- the raptors looked fucking good - dinosaurs and cowboys in the same season? If Amy was going to stick around longer this season would be perfect for me.

- will be interesting to see the Doctor and River during their married phase - I wonder if River's last appearance will be episode 5 as well - that her story is wrapped up.

- the new companion is stupid fucking hot. Like, I'm a huge fan of Karen Gillan's everything, but I think they literally looked at each other and said "we need someone prettier with a nicer body or people will never forget about Amy being around...".

What was the sonic screwdriver created to do? I tried to watch this show on Netflix and its just too hokey for me to get into. But I did notice that this sonic screwdriver was used to do almost anything and seemed like a very lazy plot device.

That's pretty much what it's *for*. Handwaving away unimportant bits that get in the way of the story.

.

There are a series of shorts that are on the Season Six Blu Ray that are about The Doctor and River's marriage/relationship. How he picks her up from prison at night and they have adventures. It's very bittersweet however-I won't spoil if you haven't seen it. They are very well done.

I'm still annoyed that they didn't/hope that they will show the actual romantic period between the Doctor and River. That's maybe the only way I can see her character being saved. The whole setup behind the "wedding" was a complete joke.

I guess there are always audiobooks when Alex Kingston can't play River onscreen anymore. Oh and the 200 or years that 11 is away from Pandorica/Big Bang to Day of the Moon.

I was kinda disappointed how River and the Doctor's relationship was collapsed and revealed in like 2 episodes (Let's Kill Hitler and Wedding of River Song) so everything inbetween is just whatever and they never really travel together except on special occasions which makes me depressed.

Honestly we’ve seen enough of MS and AK smooching.

The implications were better than seeing it played out.

Epic. I think they used these images on the Monopoly set posted earlier in the thread, as well.

[quote="gabbo, post: 41307973"]His choice in WW2 leather submariner jacket certainly sets him apart.

Best regeneration in the new series.

There's a dude who looks like Matt Smith sitting up the back of my law class. I think it's probably just his hair quiff thingy.

/edit I was just thinking something, triggered by the sight of the trackname "Melody Pond" - do you think a child or adolescent companion could ever feasibly work?

Rewatching Day of the Moon, when did the Silence or whatever take a picture of Amy smiling and holding the baby? You know, the picture that shows up in Melody's room?

EDIT: This has gotten me reading Wikipedia articles on all of the companions and now I really wish the revival would give us a companion who's not from contemporary England. The old serials seemed to pull from all of time and space.

I can't believe how hype I am again suddenly. Like, I hadn't even thought about Who aside from "I should really catch up on Season Six" after dropping it midway through s6 when it was actually airing, and then I watched the rest yesterday and - while it was nowhere near s5 - I'm just so glad to be watching the Doctor, Amy and Rory just romp through the universe. They're just so amusing.

I know the feeling. I can't believe that after all the waiting, S7 is nine days away. First season with Who-GAF. HYPE.

I firmly believe that's an "ooops" goof. Something they made up with some other intention and then switched gears later on.

Yes, Eccleston is my favourite nuwho doctor. As for RTD's run(I assume you're talking about where he himself is writing), I thought the Journey's End three parter was the strongest nuwho finale myself, and I really did like the story...up until the last ten minutes at least.

In particular, the bit where SJS & Davros are speaking to each other and Davros's "children of time" speech were fantastic. His biggest flaw as a writer for me were his incredibly pat endings - Doomsday is the only nuwho season finale he did which had a half decent one.

Sadly this is a trend that for me, moffat has continued. Only Day of the Moon(which isn't really a finale as such) had a well thought out endpoint.

The Big Bang (pandorica opens 2nd part) is my favourite, just for that 'something old' line. I fucking smiled so hard at that.

Karen looks like she regrets what she just did.

she looks guilty and Rory looks pissed. Maybe she called out 'Doctor!' at an inopportune moment :)

Interestingly brave move: That clashes (for the final ten minutes) with The X-Factor. I wonder if ITV will shift it to start at 8:10 to compensate.

They did!

X-Factor that day now starts at 8:10. The Doctor makes Daleks, Cybermen, Vashta Nerada and now *Simon Cowell* draw back in fear!

Okay, need to see these.

"I know it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME, still, but you're so bloody hot and I was a virgin before I met you...someday I'll last more than 20 seconds, but you need more cellulite and maybe a smoking habit before that will ever happen..."

can we link to pics from upcoming episodes instead of posting them?

Theres some big asylum spoilers out there today, please don't post the images directly in the thread.

This also means that they are utterly sending Red and Black to die.

So much for ITV trying to damage the show this year. :D

Went to the DW Experience here in Cardiff, cheesy but then that's Doctor Who in many ways, I'm sure kids would be thrilled by it, I enjoyed it, the gf got a little scared at one point, some people are such wimps lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if they originally had planned for Amy to have the baby for longer or something and then changed it to have them take the baby off her sooner rather than later.

Unsurprising really, BBC and ITV have made deals before so they don't run into each other so much, good though.

It would depend on who the child was and how they came to be with the Doctor. It would at least remove the "companion falls in love with Doctor" cliche at the very least.

Bring back the bunk beds

iTunes has Season 7 Pt 1 for $14 in HD and $9 in SD season pass right now. Very good deal, and no idea how long it will be going on.

True- a good deal. You can stream it whenever you'd like after you buy it from iTunes...

I wish the iTunes Seasons had all the bells and whistles that the DVD sets do though...

Well, I've got a tiny bit of paranoia about them giving the show enough rope to hang itself...

An ITV insider who posts on GB is quite blunt about the fact that the execs really *are* looking to cripple their rival shows rather than improving their own. He's had a few strong opinions about it.

The 'truce' seems to only really apply for soaps on Christmas Day to ensure they don't clash.

Why the long case?
Well, just finished season two. (Of the newer series) :/

As cool as this show is, I don't think I can stay attached to it. I really enjoyed Eccleston and Tennant's portrayal of the doctor, and I really enjoyed Rose as a companion too. The way the show just disposes of them is very annoying.

Anyway, 10 minutes into season 3, and I already hate donna.

Bah! Donna is awesome. Martha is the annoying one. But kudos for spelling Sean correctly. (Another Sean here.)

Dont worry, series 3 has some great stuff in it, particularly the oft talked about and rightfully praised "Blink."

But be warned: the set up for the finale is gold. The resolution is a turd.

Blink is awesome, but I do sometimes worry that that might overshadow Human Nature/The Family of Blood, which is *also* superb. I do sometimes worry that people boil series 3 down to "Blink" and "Everything Else".

Can't forget Utopia. Jacobi is amazing in that episode. I really wish he had stuck around for another episode or two before getting 'replaced'.

Basically Human Nature to The Sound of Drums is probably the strongest consecutive set of episodes in Modern Who. Gridlock and 42 are pretty good too.
