Doctor Who Series Seven |OT| The Question You've Been Running From All Your Life

Many more, like those two, Billie Piper, and Alex Kingston

Can think of nothing worse than those two characters who began brilliant and became insufferable together.

EDIT: Also, Panic Moon was an anagram (Companion) - so was Torchwood (which was an anagram of Doctor Who and the code name for New Who Series 1, and then RTD/Gardner fell in love with the word) - so Blue Amends might be too.

Yup, one is a character who got the perfect tragic exit, the impact of which was later ruined by needless fan-pandering, encapsulated by the Metacrisis mess.

The other is a character who was needlessly and totally integrated into the lives of companions who are now gone. And so should she be gone. Seriously, the next time we see her she better have some exciting news about a library expedition.

EDIT: Also, Panic Moon was an anagram (Companion) - so was Torchwood (which was an anagram of Doctor Who and the code name for New Who Series 1, and then RTD/Gardner fell in love with the word) - so Blue Amends might be too.

Was my first thought too, but several internet anagram solvers don't bring anything up.

Your query was blue amendments, with a word limit of 2, a and I included.
Here are some phrases that can be made from that query:

albumen dements
albumens dement
amendment blues
amendment lubes
amendments blue
amendments lube
amusement blend
blend amusement
blues amendment
bluesman dement
bluesmen tandem
bluestem manned
bundles meatmen
busmen lamented
dement albumens
dement bluesman
dements albumen
embalmed unsent
emblemed suntan
emend submental
emends nembutal
lamented busmen
leadmen numbest
lube amendments
lubes amendment
manned bluestem
meatmen bundles
mensed nembutal
mentum sendable
mumbled neatens
neatens mumbled
nembutal emends
nembutal mensed
numbed talesmen
numbest leadmen
sendable mentum
submental emend
suntan emblemed
talesmen numbed
tandem bluesmen

"Bluesmen" = Tardis pilots working in "Tandem". Bit of a stretch.

They're not going to rely on a five minute sequence from an episode five and a half years beforehand to hang their plot. Given Moffat's enthusiasm for wobbly wobbly timey wimey, there's little chance that this isn't the Doctor from earlier in his life, IMO.

I dunno, I wouldn't have brought up this theory if it was just Tennant coming back, but it's because both Rose AND Tennant are coming back.

It makes the most sense, but damn if that wouldn't be a drag. I want the goddamned Doctor. Not Mr. Handy-Doc.

It's not the Doctor we want, but it's the Doctor we get.

More than this, half of the reason the Metacrisis Doctor exists was RTD building in an excuse so that when Tennant and Piper are too old to carry off the 2006 iteration of their characters in, say, 25 years for the 75th - or other similarly massive gaps - they still have a built-in excuse for the ageing! There's no point in using that now, while both are still young enough to carry it off.

It's Rose as well because as much as anybody with sense loves Donna and as far more likely as Martha or Jack are to cross his path again (thanks to UNIT/Torchwood), Rose is the definitive companion of the initial reboot. Amy will be for Moffat's era too, once he goes, no matter how good Jenna is, and even though I already prefer her.

I just found this thread so I apologize if this has been discussed in the past, but is anyone else getting increasingly annoyed by the continued use of the "Doctor Who?" line in the past few episodes?

I don't think it's been uttered this frequently and in such a short amount of time since the revival started its run. My ears would perk up every time it's used in the past because of how cool it was, but now it's starting to lose it's impact.

Yeah it's being beaten to death with a big wooden stick by whoever happens to be writing that episode. Gone are the casual, subtle mentions of "Bad Wolf", "Torchwood", "Mr Saxon", and things disappearing. No, if Moffatt's going to write an arc, you are damn sure going to be aware of it. The sequence in Saturday's episode was painful.

Like he's really going to answer that question anyway.

"His name is Kyuliaxor."

The fucking end. Can you imagine?

Prediction; River Song will feature heavily. He will whisper his name into her ear. Something inexplicably ambiguous and open-ended will occur. Nobody will be satisfied. River Song will stick around eternally until we all empathise with Moffatt how ball-shatteringly awesome she is.

I think Amy was pretty unlikable until probably Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

I don't know... it was from "Well what is the point in you?!" to me, that was when The Doctor being seen by her as this really creepy semi-fairy god father, semi-sexual fantasy character, and they actually started working together rather than her being in total awe of him.

Total agreement.

I think Amy was pretty unlikeable. She had her moments, but, eh. She served a very important purpose, and was the perfect character for the job she had to do, but... I don't like her too much.

As far as the 'Doctor Who' thing is confirmed, it's really starting to grate. The sequence in last week's episode was cute in a sense, but it's also making me cringe. My mother, who stopped watching after Tennant went (because she fancied him, I assume) said when I saw her the next day: "That scene was a bit self aware and cringey, wasn't it?" I agree, to be honest.

Oh God, they're going to reveal one of these pictures from the read through with a new cast member every day, aren't they?

On Friday, they show one with Eccleston and we all lose our shit.

:(

Also, both pictures have had a Dalek plunger poking in to the bottom left corner.

Oh shit, never noticed that. But of course the Daleks would make an appearance in the 50th anniversary!

This thread's gonna burn to the ground over the excitement of having 3 of the new-era Doctors.

Shit, I just got excited. Thanks, jerk.

Unfortunately, it really does seem Eccleston wants absolutely nothing to do with the show anymore.

They don't need a Dalek there for the read through, they just need Nick Briggs. Daleks are likely for the anniversary, but the plunger confirms nothing - stuff like that is all over at office, just watch any old episode of Confidential.

The "Never bathe in the same river twice" comment was a while ago. He's recently stated he wanted to do more with the role, he loved being The Doctor, and gave a very ambiguous answer as to whether he was in the 50th.

On whether he’d like to be involved in a 50th anniversary, Eccleston smiled and replied, “If I told you that I’d have to shoot you.”

Who knows. The BBC might offer him a lot of money. The management problems he had in 2005 have probably all but disappeared now, the crew's shifted around a lot. He said "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" were his favorite episodes, so he clearly likes Moffatt. Beats GI Joe.

For those who are interested in that sort of thing, the Bells of Saint John is on for a record timeshift rating for Who, having already added 1.64 million viewers since Saturday. The Snowmen, the previous record holder, only managed to add 1.42 viewers over the first two days.

50th has started filming today
Tennants tardis is on set which would seem to point to him playing the real tenth doctor and not hand ten
