Serious question. Marvel and DC seem to of never been bigger among gaf and the wider public.

Does anyone else out there maintain zero interest in the whole concept or is it just me?

I dont give a shit about the actual comics, but some of the movies and games turn out to be pt cool.

I don't give a shit about your face.

But yeah, I've tried to get into Marvel comic before, but they just get too crazy for me. Some of the things that hero/villains can do vary so much from comic to comic.

I've never read a comic in my life, but I quite enjoy all the tv and movies that are coming out. I'm not sure that's what you meant, though.

Definitely. The only comic I ever read was Simpsons and Futurama.

The only comic book character media I liked was the Spideman cartoon from the 90s.

Everything else is meh to me. Except my glorious Nippon anime based off manga. Do those count as comic books?

You are the only one who doesn't care about comics, you beautiful special snowflake.

Go, my child. Let your completely unique opinion on a medium of entertainment be heard.

I'm not a comics fan, yet I find the whole MCU fanbase to be fucking unsufferable. Almost like the Games of Thrones fandom. I still haven't seen a single episode of the series, but I indirectly hate it because of the goddamned fandom.

So, anyways, if someone wants to get started with Marvel and DC comics, should they be ready to start reading 300+ issues far back into the 90's or something?

People who phrase this shit as "is it just me" really grind my gears. Of course it isn't just you.

I always thought comics and the movies based on them were crap, but after being forced to watch the 2012 Avengers movie by friends, I decided to stop watching them altogether.

I loved comics in the 90s. Now it seems to be more about the movies, which personally I'd prefer to be more like the comics.

A million Wolverine movies and none of them have the yellow spandex or huge sideburns? Stupid as hell.

No. Google a good jumping on point or pick up individual stories. You shouldn't be reading 300+ issues of anything unless you have literally nothing better to do with your life.

Too many story-line's suffocating each other, at least on DC's side, and every one of them is a massive event. It makes it extremely difficult to give a shit about comics.

I want to see the end of Endgame then I'll probably be on a long hiatus as far as reading any comic book is concerned.

Superhero comics - could care less, shit is beyond stupid, "ERMEHGERD I PIERCED YOUR UNPENETRATEABLE SHIELD OF SHIELDING WITH MY ULTRAMEGADICKCANNON"

Comics with other content like The Walking Dead? Fucking gold. The medium has alot of potential beyond childish Superheroes one upping each other, but its fairly dominated by that silly nonsense.

I used to care about superhero comics but these days I just couldn't give the smallest of fucks about them. I like the characters but the comics don't interest me one bit anymore.

Literally every single person in the world cares about comics, even you OP.

Seriously tho', no, I don't like comics. I watch the movies based on comics however.

I feel that superhero comics pretty much right now are just fodder for cartoons and movies. Still there're a lot of good options but most of them have 0 chance to go mainstream in movies.

Do you even read superhero comics? There's plenty that aren't what you described.

I like Marvel/DC movies/shows/animation but don't read the comics—besides, like, really popular ones like The Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, etc.

But I still love comics/manga in general. Just another form of storytelling. There's great stuff out there that isn't about superheroes.

Sandman, Preacher, Ghost World, The Walking Dead, etc.

I like the cover art, but superhero comics don't do much for me. I like characters that are easy to relate to and most superheroes are the exact opposite.

Your thread title and post ask different questions.

I have no interest in comics, but enjoy the movies a lot.

How much could you care less?

yeah they're stupid I've never been into buying weekly issues. so much comics are garbage I'd rather wait until the good ones get collected up into trades and people tell me they're the good ones.

could not possibly give any shits about comics "canon" / continuity.

I like marvel/dc shows and movies but don't really care enough to read their comics
ain't nobody got time for that
