Doubling down on coal and backing away from anything remotely environmental is not a thing that gives me a lot of hope for this. I am really freaking out about my kid living through the fucking apocalypse in her 50s.

Well... He will be under some sort of litigation for an alleged rape and his Trump U case will be brought to court later this month. We are in unprecedented territory when it comes to what happens in terms of what is deemed impeachable.

Genuinly the world is going to a scary place. We're heading back to the 30s in terms of who is in power. Governments are becoming more and more far right and this is going to lead to a very dark place.

I just woke up to these news. Can anyone explain what happened? Clinton seemed to have a solid lead going into these elections. Is it a matter of people underestimating Trump? Were the "pre-polls" wrong?

Seen from the outside, it often looked like a choice between the plague and cholera (as we say in Denmark), and it appears people chose the plague.

Also, are the elections always this nasty? The comments all over the internet are really vicious. Both here on Gaf, on Twitter, Reddit and what have you.
 
I'm not even American and honestly it's a crazy reality shock to me. The majority might actually think like r/the_d and /pol/. It's scary. People are fucking stupid.
 
I for one, welcome all of the suffering white folks in the red states to California. You want jobs? They're will be plenty of them out in the fields. The pay will suck, but hey, at least you will have jurbs.

Nobody accounted for the number of rural white voters who would show up. That's literally it. And Dems did not capture as much of the Latino vote as expected.

Democrats gained in the Senate, keeping the GOP far away from 60. I just don't see any massive rollbacks in women's or LGBT rights, regardless of what Mike Pence may or may not prioritize.

If conservatives have control of SCOTUS, then abortion rights are done. If they don't have the guts to overturn Roe v. Wade directly, they'll start ruling in favor of restrictions on access and we'll start seeing more and more states with no clinics, because it's impossible to meet new regulations. Abortion will survive in the blue states, but it will be over in the majority of the country.

At least we'll be dead (probably) before we really see the planet go to shit....god I feel like fucking crying just typing that. I hope everyone who voted for Donald Trump is happy, congrats, it's gonna be even more disgusting having to live with that idea of this result.
