There's plenty of betting sites where you can wager on the election. Put your money where your mouth is!

i really do need to look into this, especially if the odds are against her. i won a bit with obama in '08 but really am kicking myself for not betting against rousey in that last matchup, a friend of mine cleared thousands!

This is true. But it is a mixed bag of social media, a non informed out of touch public and Mass Media/Journalism trying to be more like social media that has created a huge animal that no one gives any crap about.

Sad state of affairs really.

You got that right. It's embarrassing.

This feels like we're all in the War Room in Dr Strangelove, we keep hearing that the planes with the nukes are going to be shot down, but they keep coming...

Okay America - you've had your fun. Now, put the TrumpGun down. Nobody is laughing anymore :(.

Anecdotal, I know, but everyone I know who is voting for Trump is essentially doing it for two reasons:

1) Not Hillary

and

2) The Problem With Our Colleges

Specifically, over the past few years, as the media has picked up on conservative speakers being banned from speaking on campus', students feeling threatened because of a Trump 2016 chalking, Mellisa Click, et al Middle America really isn't happy with what they perceive as fascism and anti-white, anti-American demagoguery coming from tax-funded universities.

I'll make no judgement on how correct their perceptions are, but the dozen or so 'older' (my age, 30-31ish) people I've talked to who will admit they are voting Trump bring both those points up without fail.

3) Jobs/Economy

is another I hear a lot as well. As in, "he's a business man, he's gonna get us better paying jobs." It kind of ties into the "Make America Great Again" which ties into 80s Reagan-era opulence. At least that's how my neighbor with the Trump sign sees it.

Basing an entire group of people with little research or facts (he never gave any numbers or statistics) purely based because they are immigrant and Mexicans (he later retreaded adding more) thats. fucking. racist.

Support Trump. It is your right as an american to do so but do not tell me he is not a racist. He is. And you are supporting a racist, so what does that make you?

Find & replace "immigrants" with "illegal immigrants"

I support Trump (and Bernie) and I do not believe he is racist.
I do believe he is not politically correct and has not been trained to analyze every word to avoid offending anybody.
I also believe the media misrepresents things he says to paint him in a worse light.

This just reinforces Trump is a political outsider and isn't the run-of-the-mill politician trained on the art of careful and misleading speech. Both are fantastic qualities to have for somebody looking to shake up the status quo.

I think a temporary ban on Muslim immigratiom while we put in place more accurate screening processes is one way to address the threat.

There are also other, less abrasive, solutions.
The positive here is that Trump is willing to mention the security risk and propose solutions while other politicians won't touch the subject with a 10 foot pole in fear for their jobs and public perception.

You know, most people have not been trained to analyze every word to avoid offending anybody. But they still manage to avoid offending anybody simply because they are not racist assholes who think that illegal immigrants' reason to come to the US is to rape women, they are not racist assholes who think that all Muslims are terrorists whise families should be killed on sight, they are not chauvinistic assholes who think women should be punished after having an abortion.

Being a racist asshole is not shaking up status quo. Because being a decent human being is not status quo, it is simply - a normal thing!

There is no rational basis to think this ban woudl even have an effect. Someone's religion has little to nothing to do with their potential for criminal acts. It's pure xenophobia fueled by a decade plus of anti-islam fearmongering.

The reason they won't touch this subject is because their are actually good at their jobs and know it won't work.

Trump, as a leader, brings nothing of substance, heck, his speeches are pure pandering word salad. He's won the nomination because the GOP has devolved into a personality cult machine, where the strongest sounding guy or gal must obviously be the one with 'leadership' qualities, and the actual facts or stances of that person do not matter.

Trump has said there should be a wall (judging by his talk, at least 30 or so feet) extending across the entire border. And that the same people he intends to keep out should pay for it.

Trump has said immigrants are rapists and killers. When asked to clarify, he dug deeper by saying the Mexican Government is conspiring to send criminals here.

Trump has said he wants to deport all Muslims until we figure out "what is going on".
Trump has said Muslims living in the states should wear visible identification.

Trump has encouraged his supporters to assault protesters, even saying he would pay for any "legal bills" (i.e. bond).

But sure.
You'll vote for him out of some fucking stupid mystical notion that him being able to say whatever he wants makes him the truest candidate.

Well, that, and actual islamic terrorism targeting western nations. This brand of xenophobia is hardly the result of just a propaganda campaign

But Trump's plan is indeed nonsensical, unenforcable and unamerican

Even with those admittedly admirable qualities is it really worth ignoring that he wants to proliferate nukes, murder the families of terrorists, and that his idea of a solution is an impossible immigration ban on an entire religious group? I mean how many Geneva conventions can you break and kkk endorsements earn before its not worth having someone because they "aren't a politician"

Please, we kill more of our selves a year then terrorists could ever hope to. It's a rare event overblown because the party needs a boogieman. Remember it's only an issue because they ignored it entirely till 3000 died on our soil.

The Biff Tannen future is looking like a reality now, who the hell asked for this?

I'm regretting loving Back to the Future 2 and putting it in my list of top 5 favorite movies of all time.

I brought this on myself...

In all seriousness, please, please don't vote this guy into office. I'm begging anyone with the power to vote that is reading this. Just don't.

As a minority in America, this country is already a depressing place to live. Think about what he's going to try and do to other human beings. This isn't even about personal politics. It's about the message we send as a country if we vote a bigoted, racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, misogynistic scumbag like him into office. I mean, does this country hate my people (I'm black), and other non-whites this much? That they'd hand over the keys to the kingdom to a "man" like this? I know that he won't be able to pull a fraction of the shit he says he's going to pull off when he gets into office, but that's not even the point. It's the message being send to Americans, and the rest of the world. That we are just as isolationist, xenophobic, and hateful as many of them think we are. It's just sad.

The Republican Party has never been more an embarrassment.

Please do not vote for cartoonishly evil corporate business man.

Republicans.. You are welcome to come to the other side. You can help form the New Democratic Party, while Bernie spawns the Social-Democratic Party, and the disaster that became the Republican Party will never be spoke of again.

That all falls under "not politically correct".

I want you to explain how our current screening process is bad, how it has failed, and how it doesn't take into account a "security risk". I also want you to define what a "temporary ban, until we find out what's going on" means, and how it's applicable without being an absolutely disgusting, inhumane policy, instituting a religious test on 1.5 billions people worldwide.

Also, how will you reconcile with agreeing with these awful policies if he ends up softening them considerably for the GE, in order to try and convince voters he's not some fascist fear-monger?

Yup, let Trump represent the Republicans so there is no question in anyone's mind about what the party really stands for. And then proceed to crush him and the party in the GE. Watching the death rattles will be euphoric. Hoping something not so devoted to prejudice will rise from the ashes.

I honestly think the outcome that would be the most fascinating in all this is say, Trump losing by a significant but not huge margin in the GE. WIll we actually see a concession speech on Election Night from him or do you think he's just going to sue and sue and sue some more to keep ballots being counted and recounted and voided and whatnot?

It'll put the 2000 election recount debacle to shame I think. I don't even think if he loses 49 states he'll concede easily.

He's not going to answer you because it will reveal two things:

A) He has no idea what he is talking about

B) He is a racist prick.

Like it blows my mind that people say this things like it sounds good, but don't actually think about what they're saying.

Trump is in an entirely different category and you know it.

My favorite article so far:
http://www.nationalreview.com/artic...inton-why-hillary-is-even-worse-doesnt-cut-it

And contemplate this fact about history: We have had presidents whose competence once in office was better than we could have anticipated. Truman, for example. We have had presidents whose characters were subsequently revealed to be worse than they had seemed during the campaign. Kennedy, for example. We have never had a president whose character proved to be more admirable once he was in office than it had appeared during the campaign. What you see on your television screen every day from Donald Trump the candidate is the best that you can expect from Donald Trump the president. “Hillary is even worse” doesn’t cut it.

The National Review.
