Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

Played the first hour or so; having a great time so far.

Smashing things feels good, as does basic movement. I love endearingly whacky it is, reminds me of the Rare games in that way.

So far so good.

I disagree with him though. Galaxy 1 a 10/10 game? Perhaps, Oddysey? Not in a million years. And DKB is like DKC in 3D? I'm certainly not seeing it when it comes to level design and just the locations overall.
As per him, this is basically SM Odyssey and BOTW rolled into one package.

Which is why reviews are irrelevant. Pretty much marketing, nothing else.

Yeah, I've heard that the banana gems are just as bad as the odyssey moons. Makes it a pass for me.

Odyssey and BOTW rolled into one package would be a megaton game that'd take great work to realize and result in 11/10 if executed correctly. I don't think this is that, but if it is, GREAT.

It's like if you took a sandbox shooter like Halo and combined it with a platform game like Astro-bot. "Oh they're just rolled together into one package, reviews irrelevant, all marketing"

It just makes it look like you never played the games at all, but you sure are an expert

Edit: One of my last posts was about Xbox fans using the empathy reaction in a passive aggressive manner lmao

You must be playing the game.

So maybe tell us how its BOTW and Super Mario Galaxy rolled into one?

I'm not playing the game yet, but I have played Odyssey and BOTW. The notion that a game design coming from both of these games is "just marketing" is preposterous.

My post stated that I doubt they truly accomplished this gargantuan task. Not in a literal manner. If they did, it's cause for celebration, not disdain.

Regardless of your opinion of threse titles. I like Halo CE a lot more than Halo Infinite, but by assessing the work of combining the sandbox shooter with the platformer, I'm not going to take my personal score for infinite and astrobot to figure out the average score for the new game or how much work or creativity it took to make.

It's simply dismissive posturing because you always have to spin Xbox positive and everything else negative. While this is obvious I have to assume you would have come up with a better story had you actually played Mario or Zelda.

What are you talking about, where did xbox came from. Lol.

I have BOTW, Odyssey on my Switch. And TOTK that I am playing right now.

It is preposterous if its not accurate.

Why should we celebrate comparisons that are false?

Just coonsuooome. Thats it?

No, your assertion is preposterous, I called you out and now you are backpedaling and changing recorded history. No where did you call it a false comparison to be debunked, you said "yep, it's just two existing games with marketing paint therefore reviews irrelevant".

Played for 15 to 20 minutes and went to bed. Destruction is nice. I look forward to getting home from work and playing some more.

You would have a point if you were playing it and could point out why its an accurate description.

As of now its a whole bunch of assumptions.

Not hard to break down whats good about BOTW and SM Galaxy and see if its there in Bananza. Am not seeing it, yet.

Played an hour before work. Goddamn it plays so well. Destruction is already addicting, im destroying everything, send help. This is gonna take a while to complete :D

Framedrops are a bit annoying tho and the HDR is like nonexistent.

You are projecting that I'm doing the very same BS you are throwing at me, are you high

I guess we have to wait for Super Mario 128 for the "this is what the system can REALLY do" game with time to turn on DLSS. He always HAS to be the star

Best Buy just texted me and said my copy is ready for pickup

Nicki Minaj Yes GIF

Those that have it: how far in the game until co-op is available? My kids are trying to figure out how to use their screen time effectively today.

Honestly, the only reason i'm as excited as I am is because Mario Odyssey was hands down the best Switch game and one of the best platformers i've ever played. I didn't have a single interest in a Donkey Kong game before knowing this had the same devs.

Got my copy and ive finished for the day.

Can my parcels wait another day for delivery?

Think ill do an hour or two on this and then jump back into death stranding 2

Looking forward the model editor/maker
Played for 10 minutes, this game is an autistic persons nightmare. I doubt they'd leave the first cave until they cleared it all out.
not going to lie I spend a good hour or more on the tutorial levels (start level) just clearing all the walls and gold. Hit the bananas at the end by accident (drop punch) and ended the level premature 😭 I hadn't cleared all the gold!

Even got the little guy in his hideout up top 😁

After the tutorial levels. It will appear under the pause menu.

When it looks like Zelda: TOTK then it's available.

Imagine telling 10 year old me at Christmas 1999 that I would be 36 before they brought out another 3D Donkey Kong platformer. I would've been excited to hear we'd get Donkey Kong Country 4 and 5 in the meantime, but still... here we are, finally! Played up to the title card last night (basically to the first 'real world' start) and gonna sink some good time in tonight of course.

Played for an hour before work like some others. Smooth controls and fun and addictive destruction and feels like you are mining kinda searching for gold. I haven't noticed the frame drops yet but am wary. My TV doesn't support HDR and I'm not so picky about resolution as much as framerate and apparently I can't tell (at the moment) when it's just one frame dropping during cutscenes and item interaction (which is what I'm hearing). No transformations yet but basically jsut got to the first world, Lagoon something.

Is there any downside to destroying too much or should I just go ham smashing through each level?

I'm excited to go look at my usual gaming stores before my first appointment to see if they have it in stock. I'm decided to keep having my games as a physical collection for as long as it's possible.

The game is $69 at Walmart. I was thinking about going digital but since it's $10 cheaper at Walmart I'm gonna get it from there after I clock out, assuming there's any at the store.
It should be $70 everywhere, assuming you're talking about US dollars. Mario Kart is $80, DK is $70.

Oh I thought it was $80 as well. Might just get it digitally then so I can start playing immediately after downloading.
