Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

Game is a culmination of Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong 64, Jungle Beat, King of Swing and it's a blast.

It's got everything I'm used to seeing in a Donkey Kong Country even Bonus and Challenge rooms!

I'll give that a try.

You can swap the jump + punch down buttons

The button layout makes sense though.

Manage to play 1h and wooow this game is great goat game with fantasy life, but the kids kicked me out they wanted to play donkey, nintendo know how to make fun ass game, haters gon hate baby

Holy fuck what

I went down to a sublayer, unlocked some things then go back up again with a barrel, and while digging for bananas, I'm back to the upper layer where I first jumped down?

Just realized I missed a banana in the first layer so I'm headed back up to get that one.....holy shit....it's 10:30. Gotta force myself to push away here.

Goodnight DK bros. More bananas tomorrow.

Its just a miracle its this smooth. You're underground. You have no vision or you're in a tunnel you made and get limited hints at what's past it. It all just works intuitively.

I really lost some hours to this tonight and had to rip myself away. The game really hits a stride when you get to the third layer and your powers start playing off one another.

And people thought destroying stuff might get old….it doesn't.

Especially if you have great animation and sound design to make it satisfying.

Charge punching an enemy right in the face has to be one of the most satisfying gaming experiences ever

Impact feels so good in this game
I put the rumble on the strongest.

I do have to say I struggle with the camera a lot, I feel like it needs to be farther away from me

Map is flawless. Can look around, point to a coin and exit out and you are facing the right direction with all the same landmarks smoothly transitioned in and know exactly where to go.

I can't stop wrecking everything!

Who knew that Donkey Kong would inspire Wrecking It Ralph, and now Donkey Kong is all about wrecking stuff.

This game is honestly so much better than I anticipated. Absolute crack.

Mario Kart was the strategically correct launch title, but this is the much better game - for me at least.

Finally out of the depth and into the sky of Lagoon area. Such a difference, camera works better here (still some issues), there's waaaayyy too much to do. And I am a 100%ist so I can't leave an area until I'm done.

And I can't wait to get Pauline already but she'll have to wait in the rock.

I ended up playing well past midnight yesterday, and I need to go to work soon, but here I am, still reading this forum lol

Still on the first sublayer (but I have unlocked at least three ways down), with lots of bananas and fossils still to discover. I really should have invested my skill points into the improved sonar more... Speaking of which, is there a way to open your skills menu outside of a level up?

There are also two bananas where I need to jump on those disappearing platforms (one with Cranky Kong, and one near the water reservoir) and I have no idea how to get past those. Will I unlock some way to deal with those later, or am I (again) missing something obvious?

Started yesterday and just had a second session on my first break at work, entered Lagoon.
A bit over an hour and I think I was grinning the whole time through :messenger_smiling_hearts: Addicting and smooth gameplay, pretty art style with popping colors, stellar sound design.
To imagine this might be one of the first games I'll introduce my kids to when they are old enough to hold a controller is mind blowing. I started with Monster in my pocket on NES :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Couldn't wish for more and a welcome supplement to my DS2 playthrough.

Have fun everyone

This is me playing this game:

I did not expect this to be as good as it is. I half expected it to be a dumbed down kid's game, but my god, it's just so much fucking fun to play. Relentlessly, overwhelmingly fun, and somehow, they've managed to reach into the pleasure centers of my brain and gently squeeze them every time I smash another part of the map to pieces, or find another banana, or a map, or I just go berserk and start demolishing everything around me.

THIS should have been the Switch 2 launch game, because it's a statement about just how good Nintendo can be.

What a total banger. I thought it'd be good, but it's better than I expected. The tutorial level is like okay this is cool, then it just keeps getting better. Instant classic.

Proper fucking video game here.

FOMO wont get me this time. Planning on finishing Botw switch 2 before even thinking about buying DK.
I was weak and bought even though I'm only half through TOTK. Now I'm split on which masterpiece to play.

Also another good thing I've observed:

I've now played this game in handheld mode more - and good news - in MY experience - this game doesn't destroy your battery life like Mario Kart World or some of the other Switch 2 Versions of games. I was worried this would be a concern for Switch 2 exclusive software but the fact a game like this with its scale and higher fidelity lasts longer is great. Wizardry by the team!

Probably because it's not online. WiFi kills battery life in devices, from my experience.

Didn't actually think or consider that to be an issue. Switch 1 I barely had or played online, Switch 2 I've only really played MK and Pokemon online - so after Bananza that checks out from my experience.

DK has so many facial expressions, it's really amazing how much work they have put into animating him

I was sad that I wouldn't get to hear Seth Rogan again because DK is back to just being a gorilla and making gorilla noises but they really brought him to life

When pinning a fossil or banana on the map, it isn't visible in gameplay? What does pinning do exactly?

I know when you have maps, you can hold L1 to show the objective and revealed map targets - haven't pinned anything myself, but can you press L1 and see pinned things?
