Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

Shout out to the people who did the animations on Kong. Wonderful.

Does the camera and close-upness get better? I'm still in the first area, just got the "odd rock", but every time i start to enjoy breaking stuff or going down/ against a wall, it's basically just first person view because it gets so close up. It's nauseating for me.
Usually don't have an issue with camera, or ever get motion sickness with Nintendo games but this time seems different :/

Is it more open or better after this area?

Yeah I felt the same initially but im in the 3rd world now and its not as much of an issue.

FOV could be better in places for sure though.

There's something about this game that makes collecting the bananas feel much more worthwhile/less random than the moons in Mario Odyssey imo. Can't really put my finger on it. But it's really addictive.

I guess it might just be the destruction element being really satisfying.

Did you play Steamworld dig?

Digging is almost therapeutic, hard to put my finger on why

A few hours in and I'm enjoying the gameplay a lot. The level design is king when it comes to platformers and it's been better than I expected, honestly. From the reveal trailer, I was worried the destruction would somewhat diminish the tight level design but that hasn't been the case at all.

The destruction, malleable, and usable environments is what sets this apart. This is a full on Donkey Kong 3d game. It's not a 3d Mario game with some Donkey Kong moves. It's not precise jumping etc. It's just chaos with some jumping, as it should be. It's a very enjoyable game so far.

Also, music and sound design in this is exceptional.

this game is wonderful

And
usualy play hard modes buuuuut with thirs i play assist mode so i know wheres the crud i going

sooooo much better 98.5 outs 100
you don't need a assist mode for that.
I'm playing on the normal mode and you instantly get the ability to have some sort of guiding path showing you where you need to go.

I am enjoying the game but I do want to say that I enjoyed Super Mario Odyssey a lot more. Still, this is pretty fun. The part I don't care much for, unlike most here, is the destructibility. I am not sure how to describe what I feel, but I think it serves no purpose (feels a bit shallow, but perhaps that might change later) outside of collecting gold/extras or hiding other stuff—it does add another layer of "discoverability" to the game I suppose. The OCD in me wants to destroy everything possible, was doing that earlier but now I have just told myself to stop and move on lol.

Okay the intro was good, but once the training wheels come off and you get your first Bananza power... holy crap this game is incredible.

Seriously, this is some of the most fun I have had with a game in years. Just moving around feels so good, not to mention smashing everything to bits.

Fantastic game so far.

Game is fire.

Animation work is fantastic, music is great, and the stuff you can collect....makes a tiny part of my spine where it connects to my brain tingle.

Only 2 things are annoying me so far in the main mode.

  1. Having to jump into a barrel after a special stage, why? Just finish when I break the banana.
  2. Camera getting stuck (first person) when non destructible items are too close.

DK Artist 4 things.
  1. Lack of colours
  2. No way to change brush size bar zooming in or out. (I don't want to have to zoom out to make it larger 😑
  3. No motion controls, only mouse and it's cumbersome to say the least.
  4. No empty canvas, so if you clear a model completely you can't add anything as you need a bit of a model to add anything, sigh.

Bar those am loving it, should have been a release game instead of Mario kart world. This is so much more fun.
