So 2 more than 2 weeks after launch and still no actual date for Vulkan support despite being told "shortly after launch".
Also no patch for the crashes. Really awesome.

6700k @ 4.5
Well that's weird you should be destroying the game, and you're playing 1080p or 1440p?
1440p, its still runs good. but i could be gettting another 10-15 frames.
Hey all, running the game on an i3 4170, GTX 960 2GB, 8GB Ram. Framerate was steady for the first section of the game now it tanks to about 15-20 frames. Can't seem to get a consistent 30+ fps even on low.
Is this a result of the CPU?

I would say yes, take a look at this video from Digital Foundry:
[/QUOTE] Weird. I have a g3258... setting pre-rendered frames back to default.
Weird. I have a g3258(yeah, it's at 4.4GHz, but that's only 18% higher than that i3), and my game runs mostly fine. Definitely not below 30 fps. Are any of your nvidia contorl panel settings set to non default for doom? One option that made a big difference for me was setting pre-rendered frames back to default.
Where would I find that option?
For some reason I get micro stuttering on my laptop, even at the lowest settings. I have a 970m (6GB), i5@3.2ghz and 16GBDDR4. I mean the game looks great and I should be able to play at or near Ultra. Even my frame timing is fine at around 15ms - 18ms most of the time. I don't understand what the issue is. I have a G-sync laptop monitor too.
Well, that's a bummer. I assume it must be slower/worse than my desktop PC. Don't get any problems with Fallout 4 at near max spec and 60fps (with mods). Its your HDD/SSD.

I've got a 6700k (stock, haven't overclocked yet)
evga 980ti
averaging 70+ FPS(seems to stick around 74-78) at 21:9, 3440x1440 at ultra
When I turn on V-Sync, the framerate will drop from 59/60 to 54ish but stutters and feels like total shit when it happens. I don't like that and can't stand it so I have to play with V-Sync off, and deal with tearing. I'm usually sensitive to it but here it's not bothering me TOO much, so I can deal.
For a game that spent years in development, anything in the next six months could safely be called "shortly after launch". Give 'em a break, will ya?So 2 more than 2 weeks after launch and still no actual date for Vulkan support despite being told "shortly after launch".
What does Fallout 4 have to do with Doom? Games use two different engines which work in different ways.Well, that's a bummer. I assume it must be slower/worse than my desktop PC. Don't get any problems with Fallout 4 at near max spec and 60fps (with mods).
anyone have any idea why my gpu is maxing out at 85% while playing this? have a 980ti and still getting great framerate but i have a 144hz monitor and am getting about an 80fps average.

Personally, I'm going to laugh my ass off if the Vulkan patch doesn't actually do anything. It's not a guarantee of any improvement whatsoever, you know.
You don't have to deal, just enable triple buffering and vsync in the Nvidia Control Panel (vsync off in-game) and lock the fps to 60 using RTSS. It will be dreamy smooth and no tearing.
So, either I'm crazy or this game has practically no CPU dependency.
FX6300, GTX970, 8GB RAM - On Ultra settings and I'm getting 90FPS~ consistently. I'm fairly certain the FX6300 is well below the listed MinReqs.
...Unless of course 90FPS is now considered poor performance and 144FPS is the new 60.
Good to know they're just starting to gather data now on an issue that stuck out like a sore thumb since release day :/No. Only found this:
Today, we've updated DOOM on Steam to log your crashes in a designated folder on your computer. Feel free to send us your crash logs in this forum section linked below so we can investigate further.

This game has awesome frame pacing in borderless windowed, is that a opengl or id6 thing? 60 fps rtss + borderless windowed + vsync off, you don't even need vsync, it's silky.
Most other games stutter or judder in the above config.

The screen tearing is awful when I try this. Borderless doesn't seem to make any difference (The screen doesn't even blink when switching from fullscreen), Could be an AMD thing tho.

Nothing really. But if the HDD was the issue I was wondering why it didn't effect other games the same way. I assume Doom utilises my HDD differently from Fallout 4, then? And anyway i'm not sure if it is my HDD. I can stand perfectly still and slowly turn around and the judder is very noticeable. What does Fallout 4 have to do with Doom? I'll ttry limiting the frame rate as has been suggested. Just can't understand why this happens on my laptop and not on my desktop.
780ti at 1080p running at ultra with the exception of the virtual texture paging thingy, which is set to high. It generally maintains 60fps but I have noticed occasional locations where the frame rate dips, and one location in particular where the frame rate dipped sharply for no apparent reason, and lowering settings did nothing to alleviate the problem.
I'll be interested to see what impact the Vulkan patch has.
In the location where it dips for no apparent reason, did your gpu usage dip drastically also? Like did it go from 98% down to something super low, like 50%, and then go back up to 98% all in the span of one second?
I wasn't using an overlay to check GPU utilisation, but even dropping the settings to low had minimal impact, so something funny seemed to be going on. Once I moved to another part of the room I was in, the framerate went back to normal.
Well, I used RTSS and the judder is gone. I used the games frame rate display and noticed it never stayed at 60fps but went up and down really, really fast. Locked to 60fps and it's super smooth. It happens on my laptop, too, which has an SSD. I think it might be the system RAM.
If the screen wasn't blinking it probably didn't activate properly and you were still in fullscreen mode. amd or nvidia wouldn't make a difference.
It's not possible to get tearing in borderless windowed because it applies windows triple buffering, but you can get lots of stutter in others games, even when you lock fps to your refresh rate and the fps is constant. It's a hit or miss, depending on the game.
Edit: Forgot to clarify, I'm talking about b/l windowed with fps cap and and vsync off, for lower input lag. With vsync on in b/l windowed you would never stutter at 60 fps, but there'd be higher input lag.

980ti here and this doesn't work, consistent tearing as if no vsync is applied. Fullscreen with vsync off in game, vsync and triple buffer enabled in Nvidia panel and 60fps pimit in RTSS. Am I missing something?
Has anyone else noticed weird frame rate issues going past 1080p on a 4K display? When I run 1080p I got a rock solid 60fps that looks buttery smooth but when I go up to 1440 even the the counter says 60-70fps he actual frame rates look jumpy and sub 30. I tried full screen and border less and all the vsync settings but nothing seems to work.

Just a quick clarification.
Its my understanding that gaming on border less window, automatically enables triple buffering (its a windows thing, right?). So I should just need to enable border less window on doom, then cap the frame rate to 60 fps and enable vsync on driver panel right? In short, no need to force triple buffering in the driver panel, since border less window does that automatically right?
