DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part Two | Official Teaser

Started to play Ancient Gods Part 1 as I bought the deluxe version ages ago and mean't to get round to playing it.

Not even going to bother. Ancient Gods is everything that is shit about Doom Eternal ramped up to the extreme. Every enemy having a weakness is one thing, but when the game throws every enemy type under the sun at you in a small arena when all the fucking demons require a different tactic makes it an absolute mess. Can't dodge because you get stuck on something or crowded by demons who just tear you a new asshole while even while you're staring at a weapon wheel full of weapons in red because you're out of ammo anyway. It would be a whole lot more enjoyable if the game didn't force you to play like a meth addict constantly hot swapping weapons and weapon mods between using abilities to regain armour and ammo constantly. It's like the devs figured those few lunatics out there who actually have ADD and pound away at a dozen different keys at once should be the baseline for how to play the game.

Doom 2016 is one of my favourite shooters; Doom Eternal was one of my biggest disappointments in how it completely broke every approach to the game there is outside of how strictly they want you to play the game and god knows how it's suppose to be possible on a controller. Ancient Gods quadrupled down on it and I honestly don't know if I could be fucked to finish it even though I love where the story was going.

Definitely giving this one a huge miss.
As much as it pains me to read this but i sort of agree with you. Doom 2016 was one of my games of the generation. For me its almost perfect. I liked doom eternal but never felt the urge to replay it. Unlike doom 2016 iv played 3 times which is super rare for me.
Just now im trying to wade my way through dlc 1 and its not fun. Just really fuckin irritating tbh. I think they went OTT with the whole doom dance thing. Like u have to do it 24/7 in the dlc or ur fucked. It feels like work.

Honestly in terms of flaws I thought some of the level flow and overall design was weird. It didn't feel natural and felt forced at moments. If that makes any sense. At first I didn't enjoy the platforming aspects, but by the end of it, it didn't bother me anymore. That being said, I'm not married to them by any means. They could remove them and I would've been fine, haha.

I also thought the game felt pretty light in the content department, though the campaign felt pretty replayable. Not to mention they did events that made me play through it more to get the unlocks for a good while. But 2016 felt STACKED, which was awesome! A campaign, snap map, and multiplayer. I was so happy cause it felt like the first time we had a new AAA FPS come with a ton of content. Something I felt like we hadn't seen in a long while. Especially with that type of FPS. I thought Eternal would've had the same amount if not more, but it didn't.

I still wish the game had standard multiplayer. What was in 2016 was entertaining and fine, but it could've been SO much better, and with id doing it in-house, I thought that's what we were gonna get. But instead, we got Battlegrounds, which I appreciate them trying something "new", but that's not what a lot of the fans wanted. Including myself.

It's just wild to me that DOOM is what built the foundation for FPS competitive multiplayer and co-op. But we haven't seen a new DOOM game do that yet, and very well across the board.

Eternal was one of my favorite games last year, I mean, I'm a huge DOOM/id fan, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

I honestly don't mind Marauders at all. In fact, I appreciate them at times because they crank the tension up a bit. But ever since I got down the weapon combo to drop them faster, they're not really a threat anymore.

I absolutely loved the first DLC, it was Eternal cranked to 11. The Marauders weren't an issue for me. For me, the biggest issue were the Spirits. It's not enough to make me hate it by any means, but really, fuck them so much, lmao.

Excuse any of this if it sounds rambly, I woke up not long ago. 👀
I personally loved the platforming as a bit of a break between the combat and agree with what you said about Marauders.

I loved and hated the difficulty of Part 1, I loved the challenge but at times I wished it was slightly less difficult.

The eye turrets and spirits I hated but the spirits I think I was lucky, it was a fluke on occasions that I beat them relatively quick.

Doom Eternal is hands down one of the best FPS' ever made!

Have they said anything about the timing on the PS5/Series X upgrade? I feel like this DLC would have been the perfect time to drop it. Kind of disappointing tbh.
I honestly feel like they are too late with it to be honest, most fans have played and completed campaign and part 1 and will complete the Part 2 and most have already probably re-played the campaign already. They should of already been working on it long time ago last year and releasing now.

I have replayed Eternal campaign 3 times already, its just that fun,but im worried about the dlc apparently its much harder and cheaper than the main campaign(last 2 levels give me trouble on hurt me plenty), waiting to see this part 2 impressions

Wait so I'm confused.. so I see the slayer... but then they show a man in a mech suit that it looks like we fight? Would be dope if we actually got a Mech to control ourselves.

Still working my way through Eternal and loving it. At first I hated the platforming but it adds some nice elements and breaks up the monotony. Will tackle Doom 2016 afterwards to see how they compare.
